In Totalitarianism, the state controls everything and there is no value for an individual’s thoughts or opinions. On the other hand, Communism is a political ideology that believes in a stateless or class less society.
Totalitarianism means total control. But in communism there is no total control.
The society is all-powerful in communism. It is the state that is powerful in Totalitarianism.
In Totalitarianism, the individuals have no share in the decision-making. In Communism, it is the community that takes all major decisions.
Communism believes in the common ownership of everything. On the other hand, Totalitarianism is a system, which believes in the state ownership.
In communism, the community is the sole owner of resources or the means of production. But in Totalitarianism, it is the state that handles all resources.
By the way, totalitarianism is right wing and communism is left wing. I hate both.

I'm not so sure people will wake up just because we speak out. I have some experience in trying to help a person with a mental illness get better. She couldn't see that her fear caused her to act in a certain way, which in turn caused her to experience events that confirmed her fear. It was a cycle, and self-created. The ONLY way I found to help her to climb out of her own pattern (and I was unsuccessful) was to not react at all to her actions, which should have given her the space for cognitive dissonance to occur within her - the world was not conforming to her expectations, so either the world was wrong, or her expectations were.
I see the same thing happening for people that are not awake.
They need to be presented with a personal situation that they experience first-hand that shows them that either the world is wrong, or their assumptions about the world are wrong. i.e. they themselves get punished for doing "the right thing". There seems to be no other way, as shouting loudly at them simply serves to strengthen their conviction that we're loud-mouthed racist bigoted far-right trolls.
More than that, they often need several identical experiences like this so that they can test out their own theories about it. Cognitive dissonance does strange things to people, and more often than not they double down on their convictions before changing them. Also, they need someone they trust to point out that their actions resulted in their own imprisonment. It's a long hard road.
