Why Oppenheimer Quoted the Bhagavad Gita | Sadhguru

????

Sadhguru speaks about scientific explorations in ancient Hindu scriptures to elucidate that the most practical way to explore the nature of the existence is by turning inward. He also speaks about American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer's famous quotation from the Bhagavad Gita after the very first atomic explosion. #oppenheimer #bhagavadgita #sadhguru Get 14-day free access to Sadhguru Exclusive, the largest video catalog on Mysticism & Spirituality. Killing 80,000 people in one sitting is ok in a country declaring itself Christian? Makes sense to me .Oppenheimer was playing God and did his best to ruin the world not to save America.

@pizzalot Says:
Bhagavat Gita was written to motivate people to commit war and war crimes. Previously they were ahimsavathis thanks to Buddhism. A gita was needed to brainwash them and to indulge them back into war and destruction. German scientists took up reading Gita during WW2 when their Christian philosophy questioned their nuclear bomb invention.

When a person has insecurity or feels a threat towards something he keeps fighting it. This guy oppenhiemer thought he has got a great invention but it is dangerous so he tries to rub it on Bhagavad Gita but he did a wrong thing.

It is called misquoting and it's exactly the same as what you're profiteering from.
@apoorvbarwa8698 Says:
Speaking in an american accent... wow ... why did opppenheimer quote the gita ... he had great knowledge of sanskrit and gita. And most importantly this is a great tactics used by these con men to diviate from the real message the Bhagvata Gita gives ... It never says "This is all the possible knowledge possible in this world" ... but people like this take advantage of a sacred scripture and present it in a way to gain for themselves
@jaidaeva1884 Says:
Why do we care why oppenfeimer spoke of the bhagvad Geeta .. we are lucky it's out heritage and contains absolute truths .. someone quoting it doesn't add or take away anything nor should it be of import to us..

Transliterated into English, this verse reads: "Kalo'smi lokaksayakrt pravrdho Lokan samahartum iha pravrttah Rte'pi tvam na bhavisyanti sarve Ye'vasthitah pratyanikesu yodhah" And in English translation, it means: "I am Time, the destroyer of worlds, who has come to engage all people. With the exception of you [the Pandavas], all the soldiers here on both sides will be slain." It is important to note that while this quote is related to Oppenheimer's statement, it is not an exact match. दिवि सूर्यसहस्रस्य भवेद्युगपदुत्थिता । यदि भाः सदृशी सा स्याद् भासस्तस्य महात्मनः ॥ “If a thousand suns were to rise up simultaneously in the sky, the brilliance of this Great Atman was similar to that.” Arjuna after viewing the universal form is utterly dumbfounded with fear, awe, and a host of other emotions. So he asks the Bhagavan: BG 11.31: आख्याहि मे को भवानुग्ररूपो नमोऽस्तु ते देववर प्रसीद । विज्ञातुमिच्छामि भवन्तमाद्यं न हि प्रजानामि तव प्रवृत्तिम् ॥ “O Best among gods! Please tell me who you are, of such terrible and fierce form. I bow down to you, please be benevolent! I wish to know you who are the source of everything, for I don’t know your nature.” The Bhagavan replies: BG 11.32: कालोऽस्मि लोकक्षयकृत्प्रवृद्धो लोकान्समाहर्तुमिह प्रवृत्तः । ऋतेऽपि त्वा न भविष्यन्ति सर्वे येऽवस्थिताः प्रत्यनीकेषु योधाः ॥ “I am Death in the form of Time, the destroyer of worlds, I have grown now. I am engaged in dissolution of the worlds. Even without you, these people assembled on the battlefield would not continue to exist.”

Sadhuguru said that because in reality, Oppenheimer did mentioned Bhagwad Gita when the nuclear bomb was exploded in world war. He probably read about Oppenheimer. Nothing mystical about it.

Quote about the "thousand don " is in correct. The verse describes the radiance/Prakasam /Lumin e of the Almighty, It goeslike this "if in the sky onthoysand Suns were to rise simultaneously, that radisnce/liminence NAY resemble tgat if the Great Doul" So, it is not about the weapons such as atom bomb explosions Verse 12, Chapter 11, Baghvad Gita: दिवि सूर्यसहस्रस्य भवेद्युगपदुत्थिता | यदि भा: सदृशी सा स्याद्भासस्तस्य महात्मन: || 12|| divi sūrya-sahasrasya bhaved yugapad utthitā yadi bhāḥ sadṛiśhī sā syād bhāsas tasya mahātmanaḥ divi—in the sky; sūrya—suns; sahasrasya—thousand; bhavet—were; yugapat—simultaneously; utthitā—rising; yadi—if; bhāḥ—splendor; sadṛiśhī—like; sā—that; syāt—would be; bhāsaḥ—splendor; tasya—of them; mahā-ātmanaḥ—the great personality divi surya-sahasrasya bhaved yugapad utthita yadi bhah sadrishi sa syad bhasas tasya mahatmanah Translation BG 11.12: If a thousand suns were to blaze forth together in the sky, they would not match the splendor of that great form. Commentary Sanjay now describes the effulgence of the universal form. To give an idea of its dazzling radiance, he compares it to thousands of suns blazing simultaneously in the midday sky. Actually, God’s effulgence is unlimited; it cannot be quantified in terms of the effulgence of the sun. However, narrators often describe the unknown by extrapolating from the known. The simile of a thousand suns expressed Sanjay’s perception that the splendor of the cosmic form had no parallels.

If you are body conscious , the way of body and outer world and others becomes significantly important in your life and you think that all outside is real world and I will control all outside world. If you are soul conscious , you go deep within and you realize that only thing I have to and I must control is me and my nature and world will change for me. If I take control of myself I take control of my world and there is no real need to change or control entire world. Now, you also have the choice which direction you want to pursue.
