I'm not hearing any L and your detailed explanation doesn't describe an L. To me it just sounds like an R pronounced correctly with a single tap, not the lazy "ahhhr" that people do.

I thought this course was actually good until the 40th minute, same with chinese. They give too little information at the beginning before jumping straight into the listening skills.

Ridiculous that the first 45 minutes is the babying through basic stuff, then straight into listening comprehension that you're only going to get if you know every bit of vocab they use. That hasn't been taught. OH, and with the world's quietest audio to boot. Seriously. I whacked my headphones on because I couldn't hear, and the second listening 'lesson', I'm giving up. Feels like I just wasted an hour.
