As a South African, I remember what started the xenophobia. Kwazulu Natal has an active king who rules the land alongside the Government.
A certain group of rich drug dealing Nigerians in Durban city of Kwazulu Natal started making claims that they ran the city. This conduct reached the Zulu king who went on air and told his people such disrespect deserves a good beating for undermining his rule. This is where it all started and the whole country including non Zulu districts like Gauteng also followed suit claiming they also has similar problems with their local Nigerians
After the beat down the Zulu king took back his words but the damage had already been done. The Government was also pressured to take action and strengthened laws by jailing the drug lords.
This happened a long time ago before 2010, I myself am a Zuluman from Kwazulu Natal Durban and I saw this mess with my own two.
Those naughty Nigerians ruined it for everyone.
Things are much better now since the old Zulu King passed and his son took over. Smaller Xenophobic eposodes come and go, these are usually turf wars between vendors, nothing serious.
Don't feel shy to visit our country, things have blown over and time heals all wounds.

This devil single handedly promoted the arrest and false imprisonment of 5 innocent black youth, the youngest being 14yrs old, using his own money, (which he never uses especially to pay his bills), and platforms to continuously campaign for the conviction that landed them in prison for 6 to 13 years scaring them for life. If he were anywhere near that place, he would not be alive today because he would have been beaten to a pulp by angry mourners. He has single handedly promoted and executed the January 6th terrorist attack at the Capital building in DC, and he is at present refining his plans for a civil war with his home grown white supremacist terrorists groups. Man i can go on and on but i don't have the time and you don't have the space. Goodness knows that the majority of Black people here in America are conservative and are tempted to vote for that thing, but we are also very intelligent beings and voting against our best interests is just not something we take part in often unlike some of our counterparts. We absolutely appreciate what you do here Zack but when it comes to American politics dude please let that topic remain our cross to bear, goodness knows we have huge issues even having our votes counted in this country.
