LBH the Niger miltary know that the Americans wont leave at the end of the year. So what a great way to put alittle heat under them so they hopefully leave sooner instead of deploying US troops to help in a coup. Actually there is more to the 101 base situation. Around July 23, Niger asked the US to downsize their personal and vacate base 101. The US claimed that they had done so, so the Russian and Nigeriens were shocked to find that they had lied.
That's why America isn't shouting about it being their property or saying anything aggressive because the US troops should only be at base 201! The whole embarrassing situation has meant that America is no longer trying to negotiate to stay in Niger and is looking for somewhere else in Africa to move their troops to.
