I can explain what really happened in the early 70s that split out productivity from compensation. We made money worthless..... by going off the gold standard. We gave the government and elites the ability to just conjure money out of thin air.....but still expected the slaves to work really hard for it. At its core this signalled the end.... it will just take 100 years to collapse. Why bust your ass for something that someone else can just conjure out of thin air? That magic money does two things it keeps the rich rich and pays the poor not to work. Basically it returns us to fuedal system that has no middle class. Either you are a master with access to the magic money printer or you are a slave doing the work. The biggest idiots are rhe people that still trade their life, blood, sweat, and tears for the worthless dollar. Its like a melting ice cube. Its impossible to save enough ice cubes to be secure. Because at some point your stack is melting as fast as you can replace the melting. Meaning that you are working for free not to be secure. The only way to be secure or get ahead is by owning the ice cube maker and paying people to do valuable stuff for society in exchange for nothing. So the "just get a job" narrative is really give us something valuable in exchange for my magic beans. No thank you. Bad deal.
