@Ubizale Says:
You can burn any book in my country of Sweden. Noone really thought about regulating this up until now, because until now we haven't really had to deal with any issue like this. Then, last year this danish guy started to burn the quran in public and there were riots from the moslem community. Most swedes were shocked by such violence, but then moslem leaders in Sweden started to condemn the violence and initiate discussions, gaining respect from the the rest of the swedish community. The government wanted to put an end to burning the quran, but it was up to the high court to decide and they ruled it ok (because how the law is written).
So then this iraqi guy turns up burning the quran in front of a mosque on a religiously important day and almost everyone in Sweden is shocked. But this time the swedish moslem community shows great restraint and goes for peaceful protests and tries to initiate further discussions. The rest of our people are mostly impressed by them and want to listen to them.
But then again Erdogan in Turkey decides to make our domestic conflict of use to his personal agenda. And then the IOC follows up. And ... world politics ensues and everyone with a YT account has to have an opinion.
OK, I get that no country is an island in this globalized world. The law has to be changed or reinterpreted. Almost noone in Sweden thinks bookburning is any good way to make a political point of view, but we do need to be able to criticize religion as well as any other part of society, and we need time to work out how a new law should function. It will happen, our moslems have earned it. Don't worry.
But I fail to see what the LBTQ community has to do with anything of this and why there are iraqis burning the rainbow flag (burning the swedish flag I can understand). The LBTQ is such a small faction of the swedish population, yet they have already taken a stance against burning the quran, so why burn their flag? It's just stupid. Jesus! Be a man, Mwekassa, leave the poor sods be, and concentrate on real issues.

Why is it that Muslims are the target of public provocation? From Logical perspective, there are two main reasons. One is political. An agent of an unfriendly nation can potentially fabricate a rift between the islamic nations and the targeted nation. Second, Muslims are incredibly easy to trigger. In my view this guy is an abhorrent person. This doesn't have anything to do with the spirit of free speech. He tweeted it for his stupid deed. Yes I do not believe those nations will change their law to accommodate others just like Pakistan or Saudi rid their blasphemy law change

why is this disrespect? Sweden for the last 10 years have had a huge and increasing problem with immigrants and refugees, whom refuse the swedish way of life, and want to bring sharia and the islamist culture to an christian-culture country. This is simply a response, saying: no, we dont want that here.
Is it a little extreme? yes maybe, but the swedish people have no other way to challenge what is happening with the whole islam problem.
I think you need to look at this from the Swedish side, and not from your narrow islamist view. Sweden is a christian country. dont try and change that, becouse this is what will happend.
@vicispatronus2075 Says:
Another thing, a lot of people are giving crap to the west while we face terrorist attacks from muslim extremists. Yet I have heard NO ONE talk about the camps China have for Muslims, that is hypocrisy if anything. Russia won't stand up to them, The Middle East won't. The west points this out, but the west get crap for trying to help out the religious rights of Muslims in China. This is the biggest hypocrisy of it all. And it"s China, Russia, The Middle East etc who are responsible.
@vicispatronus2075 Says:
After listen to the interview with the first woman I both agree and disagree. If say I would burn a rainbow flag, I would probably be chased and hated for the rest of my life. If I burned the Swedish flag very few would care, if I burned the Bible some would care, if I burned the Tora more would care. One thing to remember is that most swedes don't believe in any religion. I think that one of the major issues in Sweden is that a lot of immigrants who commit crimes etc in Sweden claim to be muslim, even if it's obvious that they have very little knowledge and don't care. Another perspective is that most of the jews that are being treated bad in Sweden are being treated bad by extreme people who call themselves Muslims. So the situation is a lot more complex. In Sweden there's also a lot of frustration about extreme Muslims, where daughters out of accident just fall out of a balcony. There has also been muslim groups who have demanded Sharia laws for their people in Sweden. That will never happen.
I don't agree with you on one part though, most swedes wouldn't care if you burned the bible, however what I agree on is how people would react if I burned a rainbow flag. I've been politically active in Sweden. I wouldn't call myself an atheist, but I don't believe in any religion either. Once I started an argument that it should'nt be allowed for a woman to get a child on their own without the child knowing who their biological father is. Then I faced a lot of hate, but my point was that if you really care about children it should be their desicion if they want to know who their biological father is. Then these people say well 2 women could be good parents as well, and I say that's not the point, the children should be able to decide not the adults. Then they say, so "oh you are saying that 2 women would be worse parents?". Then I once again say it shouldn't be the choice of an adult if we say that we care about children's rights', then I get hated.
Another thing to remember is that the 2nd burning was done by a citizen from Iraq, the police knows that according to the law it will be hard to stop. So the disrespect in general is not shown by Swedes. This has been legal for a very long time, but just in the last couple of years extremists, (none of them being swedes), started to do this.
Another thing that is important to point out right now is that Sweden have big issues with gangs from the middle east. And there have been Imans in several mosques who have helped out to recruit extreme religious people who are willing to kill others. Sweden have already had two terrorist attacks committed by muslim extremists. This always gets lost in the debate. It's happened in Germany, France, Great Britain, Belgium etc. So it"s not like the west are watching the situation for no good reason. Every time Muslims tell their people to fight there will be idiots who are willing to commit terrorist crimes. So when people encourage others to stand up I think it's very important to stress that it must be within the law.
@vicispatronus2075 Says:
Hey, I'm Swedish. I would like to give my perspective. First of all this is not common in Sweden. 2nd of all the two times it happened recently it was after Sweden applied for Nato. A few years back it happened as well, then it was Rasmus again. So this is definitely not a common practice of swedes. These are people who just want to stir up trouble. Technically it's not illegal to burn a book in Sweden regardless of which one it is. Once in the last couple of times the police managed to prove that it was a hate crime so it got rejected. What people abroad don"t seem to understand is that the police don't want this, the people don't want this, because it will pull away resources from the police to protect one idiot. However it is legal, so while the police have tried to stop it, they've been overruled by courts. The politicians are not allowed to interfer in individual cases, so if they interfer they can be charged according to the law, as the authorities in Sweden are independent by the law. So even if the government don't want it they can't stop it. As an average swede I don't see the point of buying a book and burn it to provoke others. The issue is that a lot of people seem to think that the Swedish people, police, government stand behind this, but they don't. There has also been investigations where Rasmus the first person have been linked to financing from Russia. People don't seem to understand how much Russia and Turkey wants to keep Sweden out of Nato. Turkey is trying to do Russia a favour. It's a bit suspicious that this happens several times when we try to join Nato. Another thing is that it's allowed to burn the Quran is several Nato countries, and it's been done so as well, but for some reason it's easier to only focuse on Sweden.

Well, good for Sweden. It is a secular country that has built it's society on Judeo-Christian principles. They can do whatever they want in their country. We need to stop this European obsession. Muslim and African countries should stop the self-victimisation and European obsession. There is absolutely nothing wrong with whatever is happening in Sweden.

It's inappropriate to trash someone's religion, however it doesn't warrant the life of any one, much so as deities should be deities enough to avenge themselves. But it will be surprising not to hear of destruction of lives and property in nigeria and some other countries as a result of this.
@ladyOshun1 Says:
Guys, God will deal with the person that burns any holy book- why are we getting so upset and making it personal? Where is your faith in your God to seek justice himself as the religions teach?
Let it slide..However, in the future, if a jewish or christian holy book is burnt under similar freedom of speech circumstances, and serious consequences happen, then we know the world has an inequality issue and the global corp elite who follow those religions are complicit- riot then about discrimination rather, not the actual burning of the holy books
