use the pins like sabot or fin type methods for straight flight.

When I was a kid I used to take sewing machine needles, heat up the back end, and push the heated end into an airsoft BB. Doing the same muzzle loading thing with my 1911 green gas gun, they would go through 2 oranges. Sometimes the rind of the second orange would strip the BB off and the needle would go all the way through and get lost in the yard. That was idea of a home defence gun when I was a child so it always stayed loaded right next to my bed 😅
@icecrystal7965 Says:
As a kid, I played around with blowguns and darts just like that with my friends
We were probably in grave danger multiple times
Especially since the arguably more dangerous things we were doing, was launching bouncy balls with slingshots in an unfinished basement
Those bad boys would bounce from end to end of the basement at least 4 times before calming down

I missed something not too sure why you're in the garage right now but cool video I love blow dart guns
@TheOnlyToblin Says:
I had one of those blowguns as a kid, with 20 or so of those exact arrows. They were absolutely murderous and I even accidentally shot through a window once, while missing an apple. Propelled by my lungs, btw. Because it's essentially just a long tube with a sight and mouthpiece.
Absolutely insane penetrative power, even from the cold steel arrows.

I wonder if a sheath wrapped around the point (like a sabot round) would help aim?

When I was probably 11 or 12 years old my brother shot one of those darts with a blow gun at a couch cushion I was holding and the back fell off and the dart went through the cushion and right into my leg. I never forgot it.
@GTIFabric Says:
Many years ago I witnessed someone shot in the stomach with one of these darts from about 30 ft away. The dart went all the way into the plastic .
@rottenmeat5934 Says:
I remember something about the flex of an arrow in flight contributing a lot to the impact energy. Is steel really the best material for the shaft of a blow dart? Or maybe some kind of springy steel? If the shaft does wobble like an arrow, would a head be necessary to properly impact?
interesting subject.
@davetdowell Says:
Call that a needle? I once laid in a Hospital being treated with a Chemical injection into my leg. I had to stay awake so the could monitor me, and check they weren't doing me in. I lifted my head to see a surgeon with a needle that looked like a Broom Handle, that he was preparing to push into my leg. I put my head back down, and decided I didn't want to see the rest.

It's important to state that this video wasn't shot in Germany, where it's illegal to fix lights and lasers to any kind of gun, be it airgun or some other gun.

I got over needles when I was 8 and caught something nasty. The Naval hospital kept drawing so much blood I am surprised they didn't have to put some back in.😆

You could try filling the air cartridge to less than 5000 psi

Have you thought about making a steam rifle?
Maybe use hot compressed steam to compress air to shoot a projectile

Have you heard of the Alofs reloading magazine? A weird accessory for a double barrel shotgun that automatically ejects and replaces the shell when the shotgun is folded open.

I think for the revolver, it would be worth upping the dart shaft diameter further for durability if nothing else. I picture it looking really cool with basically 6 barrel length chambers rotating. Sorta looking like a micro Gatling gun. No need for any single additional barrel out front, I'd think.
Always fun to see these as in Canada, we're only allow 4 letter words and a middle finger for defense. :(
@MH-gb5ky Says:
If you make the revolver, pls dont forget to test it in comparison with the "nail+ear cone darts" shot from a HDS68 😁

excellent showing different ammo types for the high psi cartridges, would eb awesome to have them power grappling hook launcher, the titaner grapple type is almost teh same diameter as the cartridge. even more awesome for a scubaringer caridge that could eb fired by a crossbow....a scubaringer 12ga insert

When I was at university in the early eighties, we used a 1 metre aluminium pipe with a 4mm bore to shoot home made darts made from darning needles with a cigarette filter wound with thread and superglued. They would shoot around 50 to 60 metres and would stick into the brass kickplates on the bottoms of the Hall of Residence corridors.. They really hurt when they hit you!
