It makes sense, given that your brain requires the body to be healthy, to function properly. Imagine the unhealthy geniouses throughout history, how much greater their thoughts and ideas would be if they looked after themselves well.

honestly, this is why i run, sure it gets me fit and i can do longer and faster runs,bu getting out running through nature, even the city-forests, it all helps me think, or not think, i have places i run quicker when i think i cant, can go further when im on the edge of failure. anything physical outdoors can be nothing but good, in my opinion.

You altered suffering it by altering your attitude around something that is a spiritual activity.
@eastofwarden Says:
Glad to know he's still climbing after that lil' bear-man was born, not easy to manage being a good caring dad and also getting to do what you love.
@pelicanseal Says:
As you present it, Mishima's assertion that the body "has its own knowledge" runs into contradictions with how we can (consciously) "apply this practical wisdom", much less find the words to describe the supposed unconscious benefit of getting into shape. Language represents thought... language is thought. Hence, the knowledge that our body accumulates may be rich in fine details and expansive, yet it is still consciously knowable to us as we begin to talk or write about it. Another point: philosophers and bodybuilding have gone together - in the Western intellectual tradition - since at least the Ancient Greeks! Plato, for example, was a gifted wrestler. We have furthermore from Socrates that "it is a disgrace to grow old through sheer carelessness before seeing what manner of man you may become by developing your bodily strength and beauty to their highest limit." I really wish I better understood why PewDiePie finds Mishima so appealing, especially after courting alt-right controversy earlier in his career. I question why PewDiePie would broadcast Mishima to an audience of 111,000,000 subscribers given that context.
