The DART mission is a test of a technique that could be used to mitigate the threat of an asteroid on a collision course with Earth should one be discovered in the future. DART's target is not a threat to Earth. While no known asteroid larger than 140 meters in size has a significant chance to hit Earth for the next 100 years, only about 40 percent of those asteroids have been found as of October 2021.

Planetary defense is NASA's obsession with protecting people from an asteroid impact. It is stereotypically claimed that asteroids are a danger to humanity or to the planet. However, it is written that without asteroids the earth would not exist at all. Every asteroid impact is something completely natural and therefore must not be disturbed by manipulative behavior from NASA.
Any assumption that physical space travel would be a step forward is fundamentally wrong. It is sensible to stay on your planet and live with the asteroid impacts; after all, the asteroids are our fathers, mothers and Friends, not our Enemies.

But, question: If the spacecraft is crashing into the asteroid, the purpose is to change its direction...Now if it is done, what are the chance that it might be wrongly directed towards earth? Maybe sending a hundred little asteroids towards earth? Maybe taking a 1000 years to hit? Hopefully NASA planned to deal with this too. 😉
If that is the case, seems like going to Mars might not be a bad idea after all?
