Crew-2 Mission | Return

Crew-2 Mission | Return

????

SpaceX and NASA are targeting no earlier than Monday, November 8 at 2:05 p.m. EST, 7:05 UTC, for Dragon to autonomously undock from the International Space Station and splash down approximately 8 hours later off the coast of Florida. Aboard the spacecraft will be Crew-2 astronauts Shane Kimbrough, Megan McArthur, Akihiko Hoshide, Thomas Pesquet, who were launched to the space station from historic Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Saturday, April 23, 2021. After performing a series of departure burns to move away from the space station, Dragon will conduct multiple orbit-lowering maneuvers, jettison the trunk, and re-enter Earth's atmosphere for a soft-water landing at approximately 10:33 p.m. EST on Monday, November 8. After Crew-2's safe return to Earth, SpaceX and NASA will target no earlier than Wednesday, November 10 at 9:03 p.m. EST, or 1:03 UTC on November 11, for Falcon 9's launch of the Crew-3 mission to the International Space Station. The webcast of Crew-2's return to Earth will go live about 2.5 hours prior to undocking.

Thanks Elon Musk, we don't have to rely on Russian Soyuz to shuttle astronauts to the international space station. Else Putin may sanction the service and astronauts have to eat each other!!

💰💰💰I'd rather see wasteful funding as gambling, control substance usage, boozing just for the sake to keep up a habit, sexing in emptiness, intentional polluting, intentional chemical dumping, lavish military spending to be used in accelerated science advancement especially energy, agriculture, medical, and AI advancement inside SpaceX. With all those wasteful money, we would have been able to learn to live healthy sustainably on another planet. You don't need 14 super cars, 5 ex partners, 10 bedroom mansion, imported food from draught destressed countries, gold, diamond, gem stones to be universally infinitely happy.

Can some one explain. fair enough they say that all things inside the earths atmosphere move at 1000mph but once u break from the atmosphere, are you moving at your own speed or at 64,000mph as that's the speed of the earth around the sun ? And then for crafts like voyager and the space x star man what happens when they leave earths orbit around the sun ? Do they then speed up to 540,000mph as that's the speed of the sun around the galaxy? Can you confirm all this

What Elon has been doing is not just technology innovation. It is far exceeding because the results shines with glory and honor. I bet countless people’s eyes are wet when watching SpaceX videos. As a COO of a technology company, I barely to imagine what kind of efforts and determination behind. Person of year 2021? Not good enough to describe Elon.

What a bunch of wimps! Real astronauts of yesteryear weren't treated as if they were infirm. Who's going to greet them on Mars when they get there, little green men with wheelchairs and stretchers? Today's "astronauts" certainly don't seem anywhere as vigorous and tough as Musk's excellent hardware which reliably and comfortably takes them to and from the ISS. Perhaps they need a Gold's Gym membership.

Just a suggestion for improvement to these broadcasts: Obviously, as with SpaceX satellite launches, narrations are always included but those broadcasts have an on-screen representation of the various milestones - MECO, 1st stage separation, MVAC deployment etc. Why not do the same with these much longer broadcasts seeing as there are long periods of relative inactivity; it would allow those not watching the live broadcast to fast forward to the milestones & make much more efficient use of their valuable time. Milestone inclusion may also encourage greater viewership; the thought of a 3hr broadcast probably discourages all but the most geeky of viewers.

Why still not in 1080p? Come on, we know SpaceX has the capabilities, since they stream each of their own launches in 1080p. And with everything apparently broadcasted from SpaceX headquarters, I really don't understand why they need to limit themselves to 720p...
