In what sense is The Lord of the Rings a Christian work?

????

People in the West may have heard the Christian story so much that its familiarity breeds a kind of apathy. So rather than speaking academically about the historicity of the New Testament or allegorically about Christ's rising from the dead, Tolkien aims to make us FEEL that Christianity should be true. I just read an article how Tolkiens Lord Of The Rings series was burned by Christians who claimed they were satanic. Which is not only moronic but ironic since Tolkien was a follower of Jesus .

I have a question, how do you guys deal with the fact that there are fictional gods written by tolkein? I as a christian want to know for sure that its ok for my to enjoy storys like lotr and even write my own fiction that contain fictional god or gods". How do i go abiut understanding this?
@kenwebster5053 Says:
1, It was written by a Christian. 2, It is a tale of good vs evil choices. 3, It is a tale of sacrifice for others. 4, It is a tale of redemption from evil. (Bilbo, Frodo, Theoden & the men of Dunharrow) 5, It is a tale of resurrection. (Gandalf) 6, It is a tale of passing from this fallen realm into an eternal paradise, at least for the elves anyway. Perhaps that is sufficient points.

Only movie Aragorn is reluctant to step into the kingly role. Book Aragorn wants and expects to be king, and has spent most of his 87 years working toward that very goal.

Isn’t LOTR demonic? It has magic in it and we should stay away from all of that. So shouldn’t we stay away from lord of the rings?
@MartinBielkovic Says:
Correct me if i'm wrong but the last time i checked a wizard is a satanic sourcer. And from what i've heard gandalf is a wizard but he is not human he is suppose to be an angel. So what kind of angel do we know is satanic? 🤔hmm i dont know the fallen ones! The underdog becoming the hero? Gandalf turning into a ball of light after he dies, these arent christian themes, these are common tropes in literature and film, cant believe they would use some of these vague examples as evidence that its christian. Despite this a few of the themes that i researched were a little christian. However, From what I've seen I really think you shouldn't watch this movie and if you feel convicted of me saying this, its probably a sign.
@BillyRuffian10005 Says:
No. Gandalf was a narrative problem. For Frodo to be the story's hero, Tolkien needed to get Gandalf off the board so that Frodo and Sam could carry on alone and be the story's heroes. So no, Gandalf is not a Christ figure, Tolkien had a narrative problem to work out, and he chose to do it that way.

Do you know what the scriptures say about wizards? this is insulting to compare Jesus to a wizard for one and it is not the "weak" that save the world. Jesus Christ is the savior of the world, and he is Mighty! not weak.

what would you say about gandalf using a real spell when he slammed his staff and said "you shall not pass" three times? Witches of the craft website. They talk about a magick staff with a K which Crowley taught to do. They refer to it as a spirit staff and how to use it to do one's bidding. Spells of magic website for witches talk about a spell called "Loki's fire" and casting instructions say "as you speak the final part of the incantation slam your staff point first into the earth and release the binding rune you have been using control the energies of the spell" (which is supposed to control fire and so forth). Llewellyn 2021 witches Spell-A-Day almanac website talks about a spell banishing money problems in the new year. We read about the banishing type spell used by the wizard Gandalf. This is practised by Bill Johnson. "Mix together equal parts copel, sage and eucalyptus incense (potion) and burn over a charcoal, fumigate your home with the smoke and as you do do chant 'i am prosperity I am wishes fulfilled and needs met, I am the crown of success, I banish all debt and financial devastation, IT SHALL NOT PASS into the new year, it shall have no place in my life, seal the energy at the end by saying 'so mote it be'" so mote it be is from the gnostic mass done by Aleister Crowley that appears over and over again. Also on Led Zeppelin's album but they put the spell wrong as they say "so mote be it" not "so mote it be" This Crooked Crown, Witchcraft for the everyday and the extraordinary website says "you shall not pass, a defensive protective spell if you read the title in Gandalf's voice you are doing it right they say. You shall not pass is what I call an 'act of defencive spell'." The author of the website says "it's a security system, essentially it's a passive dorment spell that sits and only activates when someone or something happens outside of what you've been programmed to do. It's one of my favourite and used protective spells ever, it calls for rose thorns it calls for fingers, toenails, hair and blood depending on what you want to banish"

Gandalf in the story (if i remember correctly) is presented as a wizard; isn't that forbidden in the Old Testament in the book of Leviticus 20:27, Deuteronomy 18:11 and 2nd Chronicles 33:6?

Deu 18:12  “For whoever does these is an abomination to יהוה, and because of these abominations יהוה your Elohim drives them out from before you. Deu 18:13  “Be perfect before יהוה your Elohim, Deu 18:14  for these nations whom you are possessing do listen to those using magic and to diviners. But as for you, יהוה your Elohim has not appointed such for you. Do not be tricked these movies are made to push you way from fallowing Yahuah. Don’t listen to these men on this matter it will lead you astray. You can never depict magic as good in any form.

One thing I think a lot of people miss when Frank talks about these type of movies and superheroes, saying not everything is Christian. While that may be true, not all movies or stories had the intention to be biblical, that doesn't mean they aren't still there. Jordan Peterson put it really well when he said all good stories are inspired by the Bible. ( I may be paraphrasing that) even C.S. Lewis has said that Christianity is the true "myth" because mythical stories are what inspired him ti find the truth which is Jesus. A lot of you may disagree with what Frank is saying and that's fine, but for a lot of us, we are inspired by stories and imagination and finding Jesus in more than just a flat out Jesus representative. We like stories and adventures, that is one of the ways how we find Jesus.

Have you ALL LOST YOUR MINDS??! Why would a worldly satanic movie like Lord of the Rings give Jesus Christ any glory? Don't you know that even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light, don't you think Satan would try mimic Jesus Christ through movies like Lord of the Rings.? I am seriously shocked Frank can even entertainment such a wicked thing? How can this man who proclaims to be saved side with evil ? Can Frank be saved. ? Sometimes it takes just one action as wicked as this to expose his true condition before God. Like Rahab the prostitute who's one action in helping the spies in Joshua 2, her helping was justified by works was accounted righteous. So the opposite can also be said for Frank..this one action of siding with Satan exposed a serious error in his judgment. How can a godly man side with Satan.?

Lord Jesus is way greater than a fireman. Fireman: ran into a burning building to save your little son but came back empty handed, telling you he didn't want to be saved. Christ Jesus who created billions of galaxies, is greater than a mortal fireman with limited knowledge and limited love.

Off-topic but it might help some: My wife felt burdened too much a couple day ago. She described the life she wished for herself: with having a family, building a house and enjoy the love of GOD "a bit more" in this lifetime. She told me that she is aware of GODs love but she often is overwhelmed with the amount of burden she got and why she can't suffer a bit less and "live" more, making it hard not to get depressed and less loved by GOD. I told her an analogy wich came into my mknd at that moment: "Imagine a father of two. One child is healthy and enjoys the regular life. The other is born sick and suffers constantly from pain and living in hospitals. Both are loved by their father but often when the pain overtakes the sick child feels alone despite the father being at his side and doing everything to comfort him while suffering together. The fathers love overflows in these moments regardless of the recognition of his sick child, even while he only can endure through the lived out love of his father...Who do you think shouldn't feel less loved?" In the midst of our suffering rest assured you're not alone. Infact, you couldn't be closer to HIM because HE is right there in your pain. GOD is good. Always!

Tolkien was influenced by the values of his faith, but he didn’t make an allegory for it. He explicitly rejected that type of interpretation of his work.
