If Frank is taking the stance of support for borders against foreigners, I would want to just leave them with a couple thoughts.
First off, I would ask him to review what the Bible says of when a foreigner resides in your land.
Second off, I wonder if Joseph and Mary applied for citizenship when they entered Egypt with Jesus?

I've done an entire documentary series on the topic in my home state of Wisconsin (the last film won the People's Choice Award). Politically, classical liberals (many focused on Enlightenment reason) and conservatives (economic or social, broadly tagged) can find the 20% of things they can work on, then actual work on them. Problem is, the poles are radically separating, and the loudest seem to silence the Mainstream Middle. Religiously, if you look at virtually any issue, the Radical Left is in direct opposition to God and his Word, whether it be on marriage, abortion, leading children astray, ignoring legality (as in citizenship), or you name it. That's because the Radical Left has eliminated God and become a religion unto itself, replacing the Holy Trinity with its own trinity of "Racism, Sexism and Homophobia" (plus creating a whole subset of creeds, based upon nihilism itself). Unfortunately, they have dragged many of the classical liberals (who believe in aiding the poor or "underdog," for instance) into their cauldron of confusion (57 genders, males in women's bathrooms, men competing in women's sports, etc.). Neutrality on these issues is not an option, and sooner or later you'll have to decide which side you stand on. Jesus himself said, "Those who walk in the darkness don’t know where they are going." As Frank said, let your spirituality inform your politics, but don't seek out a perfect leader. Jesus Christ is the only such person who can save our world.

The political process of governance is supposed to be a give-and-take, compromise-reaching, negotiating process. But today, BOTH sides have made it a winner-take-all. That's not how it was set up or intended. But because Christians see it as a "fight between good and evil", you have a non-compromising approach. Good thing Frank sticks to theology, because he doesn't understand economics. Rising tide suggests everyone would equally benefit from a policy, but it doesn't happen that way. Rs emphasize trickle down economics, while Ds have been known to use Keynesian economics.
I don't want to debate the pros and cons of either policy, but neither of them implement a rising tide. The policies are meant to assist a certain demographic, with the hope of a ripple effect to others.

I think you missed the young man's point Frank. He was saying that Christians have actually picked a side politically, despite the fact that neither side completely represents Christianity. There are some very un-Christian things about the Conservative side, yet they are heavily endorsed in our churches. Take for example Donald Trump - the man claims to be for Christians despite the fact that he is proudly rude, a serial liar, sexually immoral, corrupted by greed and a racist. Which is what the young man was trying to say - if it weren't for the Liberal side pointing out his flaws, he would have doubled down on these traits. Yet we side with Trump just because he says he's for Christians. It's absurd.

For democrats: they have the desire to care but do not understand the repercussions of their actions.
