You probably base your knowledge about your parents on your direct experience with them, right? No one is going to call you anti-intellectual for doing that. It would very strange if you based your knowledge of your parents on "intellectual arguments", instead of your direct experience with them.
Why is the opposite true for God? Because God tends to not show up for most people in any substantial way. It tends to be crazy/delusional people who claim God directly showed up to them. That's why the stigma exists. If God showed up to people regularly, the stigma wouldn't exist, and this wouldn't be a problem.
