This is actually an issue that I have struggled with in the last few years. Not struggle for myself, I've been married forty-seven years.
As time goes on the recommended age of marriage has been getting older, and older. Many suggest you wait till you get out of college before you get married.
However, God created us with the ability and the desire to create children at a much younger age. And because people are being told not to marry until much older, they are then faced with this overwhelming urge to procreate as God intended, but without being married.
And now abortion has become one of the leading solutions to being pregnant out of wedlock. Which is extremely wrong.
Paul said that it is better to marry than it is to burn with desire.
So I am questioning this concept that young people should wait to get married, and in the same token their parents should encourage and council these young couples in their marriage or it will also cause problems.
Now, in a society which has largely rejected God, sex without marriage has become extremely commonplace. And having children out of wedlock is one of the chief causes of poverty in this Nation.
I think that it would be wise to rethink our ideas on early marriage and find a way to help these young couples cope.

The issue I have with this answer is it is a wordly answer dictated by the society we live in. I agree with him though. In today's world divorce is prevalent.
But biblically we should get married young aaaannnd we should not divorce.... If we keep the order of relationships that God gives divorce seems almost as unlikely as being a 30 year old virgin.

This is bad advice Frank. Sure, worldly councelors, and worldly statistics tell us to wait to get married. But our oversexed society and the hormones God gave us create an intolerable situation for many young people today. Like Paul said, "better to marry than to burn". God is with the innocent, and will bless their marriage and their lives together as they walk with Him. Parents, it's your duty to guide your children and vet their prospective mates, including their families!

I personally don't agree and here is why if you read the word of God daily and you are young like me and I am 18 there is nothing wrong with it especially if you are young;However, you do need to wait 2 years to get to know that person first cause time is way to fast for 1 year and when you do get married and have intercourse with that person you need to make sure its the right one cause you dont wanna unite souls with someone who doesn't love you.

My wife and I were a "fresh 20" when we got married. Our pastor counseled us not to get married. His marriage didn't last and we are married 48 years now! But we were both the youngest in our families so we probably were mature for our age. We always identified better with older people!

This was a very American answer. Frank seems to only see the world through the lens of his country. Puberty is nature's sign that the body is ready for marriage. In different places of the world, mental maturity comes at different times. American minds mature around 40 years old, if ever. But in some superior cultures, past and present, maturity grows to marriage-ready as soon as early-teens.

Of course he has a point and being that young, most people haven’t matured enough to understand who they are and what they want to do in life.
But the Bible does say something about this.
«But if any man thinks that he is not acting properly and honorably toward his virgin daughter, [by not permitting her to marry], if she is past her youth, and it must be so, let him do as he wishes, he does not sin; let her marry.»
1 Corinthians 7:36 AMP
It says “past her youth”. And actually looking up what that means, the amplified has a note, saying “reached her childbearing years”.
Which probably means that people got married earlier than 18 in biblical times, with the father’s consent.
There are no correct answer and every case has to be considered individually. In my opinion it’s important to be matured (mentally), and people mature differently. Some at 18, some at 25.

But you need to be aware of the statistics.
Anybody who is getting married at a very young age needs to be humble enough to realize they don't know what they don't know.
They need to listen to the wise counsel of people like their parents, their pastor.
If a young couple gets married and is very open to the wisdom of those who have been married far longer than they have they'll have a higher chance of success but if they get married thinking they know everything and don't need advice from anyone, danger.

I would say it does not matter the age of when you get married but more of the mental state at the time. My husband and I met at 16, engaged at 17 and married at 18 (but not a fresh 18!) Next year we will celebrate 20 years of being married! Yes, there are uos and downs, all marriages have them. But there is also beauty in marrying young. And for the record, neither of us were homeschooled.

i also wondered about this bc the Bible does seem to describe young marriages. i feel like people get uneasy bc history has shown child marriages and things like young women being married off to really older men for monetary and high social status reasons. i feel like what applies in today’s culture is slightly different than back in the day, so it is a peculiar question. 🤔

I think as long as both are honoring God, mature, and doing it for the right reasons, then it’s between them and God to judge. Why shouldn’t they? I also think other factors like what is culturally acceptable and approval from important people in their lives (i.e.blessings from parents) can play a role. Some cultures marry younger than others and others like to wait for the things Frank mentioned. Thankfully Christ is king over culture so let each couple decide. I feel like it’s fine and ppl only ask about age for reasons like protecting children and as long as no one is being taken advantage of, abused, lusted after, etc. then it should be done in prayer. Some people have married young and have faithfully served God throughout their lives. I think some are not okay with it bc of concern for safety and/or cultural beliefs which is also okay as long as they don’t put down people who did marry young and have a healthy, God-honoring marriage.

Plenty of people aren't emotionally mature enough even at 40 to marry. Most young men aren't ready for marriage until at least the age of 25 ( that is when the brain matures). Since the majority of the responsibility for providing for a family falls to the man ( God's design) he really ought to be spending his youth preparing in that direction, while the young woman should likewise be learning useful housewifely skills, home management, and sharpening her skills with children. Some are ready younger, some never. Time to get back to scriptural gender roles and understanding God's purpose for marriage. God speed any couple contemplating this essential life decision.

This is not Frank Turek's area of expertise. So it's understandable that what he "knows" is based on a long standing media lie. The statistics that are always quoted are based on a study that compared 14-17 year old marriage to 26-30 year old marriage. The 18-24 year old group was not in the study. However, the so-called "reporting" on implied or outright stated that was the case. And it's been repeated so long that it is accepted by Christians. I've heard "Christians" say they'd rather their kids fornicate their brains out than get married before they're 26. Real statistical studies show marriage in the 18-22 range has the lowest incidence of divorce. Divorce rates go up exponentially the older one gets. And it's no wonder considering the baggage from previous relationships and sexual partners they bring with them. When two people start out young, they haven't become set in their ways. And while they are from different households, they are both eager to differentiate themselves from their parents way of doing things anyway. So they decide and learn to do things as a couple. They learn to live life as a couple, not as two individuals with their own way of doing things. They don't have the baggage of past relationships, because they didn't let themselves get entangled emotionally or physically with someone they were just dating.
