Again Dr.Turek no making any sense
@frenlyneybur7544 Says:
So many people like to say christianity is bad because so many people have abused people in the name of christianity. But when it comes to islam, we call it the religion of peace.................... sure....
@Konfessionen_org Says:
"Objective moral standard that is God's nature:. Such as slavery, oppression of women, genocide, infanticide, and genital mutilation of children.
@anthonymitchell9793 Says:
You can't get objective morality from a subjective belief in a subjective denomination of a subjective god.
@STL-sl7zv Says:
Terk's argument that "you cannot judge a philosphy by its abuses" is true. However, the problem with that is that we are not judging religions based on their abusers, but rather their strictest adherents. It's rather conspicuous that Terk cannot explain how exactly the crusaders, Christian enslavers and pilagers of women were acting against the will of God. If he indeed holds that the bible is the direct word of god, then all of the people he calls "abusers" were simply following the word of god in a much more devout fashion than he chooses to. This is the slight of hand most christians use on the public, they: 1. Claim that the bible is the direct word of god, and therefore is the unshakable code of morality for all humans to live by. 2. Disregard the word of god if it is found to be too offensive to their sensibilities. Whenever you bring up to christians that the direct word of god is to conquer, enslave, not eat pork, in some cases perform human sacrifice (just to name a few) they will instantly say things like "its metaphorical, we don't practice this anymore, this was not actually what god wanted" and so on. Put another way, isn't it interesting that god supposedly gave us his word directly and the people who follow his word most literally are branded by their own fellow believers as extremists? If it is true that the Bible is the word of god, then many modern christians have a lot of explaining to do. They need to explain why they get to look at the word of god and decide whether the words are metaphors or not. How can you simultaneously believe that the direct word of god has been handed to us and it is the most necessary foundation for all of human life and morality, while also claiming that much of it can now be disregarded? As if the omniscient creator of the universe gave us these rules and codes with the expectation that we follow them feverishly or be damned to eternal torture, but roughly 2/3's of it is incorrect, immoral, metaphorical, no longer practiced, hardly even spoken of, etc. All monotheisms have this same problem, but christianity and islam are particualrly bad about it. Simply put, the bigger the claim, the higher the burden of proof. People like Terk make no attempt at proving anything. It's beyond annoying. They simply appeal to ambiguity or make banal statements like "dna is complex, so therefore the creator I believe in is obviously real." Before anyone tries to argue the contrary, I have seen a lot of this guy's work and have heard his arguments many times. I implore you to do the same before you try to answer my critique.
@jferreira8259 Says:
We need to explain the obvious... OMG....
@theobserver3753 Says:
Atheism has no morality to ground itself. Everything is based on opinion which is nonsense.
@rudysimoens570 Says:
The truth is that believers DO horrible things ON THE BASIS of those bronze age man-made myths, doctrines and rules how to behave to "please" their imaginary celestial dictator! The bible is literally FULL of not only scientific nonsense but also FULL of disgusting and discriminating morals and dictates! Anyway, science and especially evolution have already debunked the crux of christianity and the crux of all the other religions I know of! And there is not a shred of evidence for the existence of ANY god or Allah or whatever name they gave to their non-existing skydaddy!
@cainebarrettduggan5337 Says:
So why are we to think that Gods morality is correct
@davemoak8436 Says:
Using hypocrites to validate an argument against God is like using an umbrella to shield yourself against a hurricane.
@chrisbaldwin3148 Says:
Sorry, but Turek's "No true Scotsman" fallacy doesn't work here. You can't go around claiming that church leaders torturing "heretics" and slaughtering untold indigenous peoples because of their perceived self-superiority isn't a function of the religion itself. If the religion of Christianity gave truly meaningful moral guidance, the church leaders would have the moral knowledge and fortitude to reject such atrocities. "I bring not peace, but a sword." -Jesus (supposedly)
@patrickburke3946 Says:
Hey David When someone plays Beethoven wrong do you blame Beethoven or the person playing Beethoven. When someone plays Jesus wrong you don’t blame Jesus , David
@geo-pi3zo Says:
What's baffling is that nowadays we can say that it was "objectively" bad ,but at that time ,they thought they had the "objective" moral right ,and we are facing moral troubles these days that in a couple of generations, will be deemed "objectively" wrong ,only for someone to say that they go by a moral standard ,with no way proving that moral standard even exists.
@Politebanana1 Says:
Religion began when the first con man met the first fool. All religion is man made and it shows.
@jagged2tiger Says:
They thought they were doing good “ literal definition of subjective morality” but they weren’t doing good according to Frank turkeys religion. There I interpreted franks point into reality
@jagged2tiger Says:
Turek doesn’t understand what morality means. If god instills morality in people this example would still apply. Morality in Each person is subjective. Oral it means the distinction between right and wrong. By definition this is subjective from person to person
@YESLiterallyJesus Says:
Frank is one of the most obnoxious people on the planet and a disingenuous debater. Don't use science to argue for god. Just say it's blind faith and we would respect you more for not lying.
@MrFossil367ab45gfyth Says:
All because you think your doing good objectively doesn't mean you really are.
@rooted5976 Says:
You dont blame the original artist for the performance of a lousy cover band...
@freddyguy8582 Says:
The idea thah the bible and Christianity's morals and reasoning doesnt change over time is obvious false and demonstrable. Sociey at times gets sick of these defunct moral arbitors and drags them kicking and screaming into progrssive policy. All it takes is the numbers in the pew to start draggkng and the money to stop flowing and then they seem to find progressive attitudes 😂😂😂
@Demonoicgamer666 Says:
David makes a good point the Old Testament gives you clearance to justify almost anything.
@coleycole5344 Says:
Atheists are so lost in their hatred for God that they don't actually think out their arguments.
@timg7627 Says:
“The unchanging objective moral standard that is gods nature” Interesting for Frank to say this because the argument for all the multiple atrocious commands directly from god in the old testament are said to be the old covenant and no longer apply. Which is odd if god has “unchanging moral standards” Just another example of how people like Frank have no idea what they’re talking and just make up nonsense to suit their agenda after they’re forced into a corner by logic and reason.
@LordNinja109 Says:
When that specific god or philosophy specifically states "Go kill", then yes, yes you can.
@Jots_and_tittles Says:
It would be impossible for there to be an objective morality based on God's nature unless God doesn't have free will. If god does have free will then he is free to change morality as he so chooses. That would necessarily make morality subject to the will of god, which by definition would make morality SUBJECTIVE. What was immoral on Tuesday is now moral on Thursday, because god feels like it. In order to be considered Objective, morality would have to "exist" independent of god, which would necessarily make god subject to it, thereby rendering god not the source for morality.
@MarioMancinelli82 Says:
Of course you can judge. God flooded the world and killed innocent people. Where is the morality ?
@jshadnot Says:
So Turek has the right objective morality and those other Christian’s had the wrong objective morality, gotcha lol
@schwann145 Says:
God told the ancient Hebrew and Israelites that slavery and rape were good. You absolutely blame the religion for what the religion teaches and allows!
@klauge763 Says:
I can't listen to these athiests. Their arogance is nauseating. Their egos are so huge that there is no space for anything else in the room, no space to even learn anything new.
@BlackOperations530 Says:
This David Silverman looks like he has a black eye
@piijay14 Says:
First of all David.....The Name of God...is not a Name......its a title...a subjective title! If I worship my wife....that makes her my God!! The U.S. currency reads "In God We Trust" ...but whom are they talking about? What God are they referring to.....mines....yours..... his....hers....??? We don't necessarily know cuz GOD is not a name! So remember that next time somebody says..."In the name of God!
@LMR458-KC Says:
That would be like blaming lebron james if someone robbed a store wearing his jersey.
@codythompson759 Says:
Yeah and all these confused gender-fluid kids think it's a matter of opinion too but we know that's not the case. The truth is our friend not the enemy.
@Goodnews4man Says:
The hard answer is so many Jews serve Satan; Jesus Christ said as much. Satan had the world to offer Jesus who turned him down. Of all the peoples of the earth, just who do you suppose he turned to next? "The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil", Jesus said. Hard answers, indeed. Paul was heart-broken for his brethren. He was willing to suffer the torments of hell if they might be saved. God will save a remnant.. of all Israel, not just Judah, btw. Who is the true Israel? Not of fleshly heritage, but the children of the promise, which includes us all. Another hard answer. Provoking jealousy for the sake of salvation. Turn back to God, Judah!
@kiwisaram9373 Says:
So if they were all atheists, what they were doing would be okay!
@justjones3777 Says:
FACTS
@Firebreath56 Says:
If I do evil things in the name of Christopher Hitchens, would David hold Hitchens responsible? Would he believe Hitchens preaches evil? I don't think so. So maybe he shouldn't use the same fallacious reasoning on God.
@JayBandersnatch Says:
If the god of the bible is the holder of objective morality it should be morally acceptable to stone unruly children, homosexuals, and men who pick up sticks on the sabbath today as it was in mosaic law. Objective morality is not SUBJECT to time it is done or the people who do it. If owning people as property was objectively moral in leviticus than its objectively moral currently.
@Steve-TruthIsRightWing Says:
Some people just want religion or God to fix the world and have no clue that the world is a paradise for the non believers and a prison for the believers.
@normanwestern9450 Says:
Another Jew that hates the gospel and religion
@piijay14 Says:
David also has to realize that just because someone uses the term GOD don't assume they're referring to the Almighty Creator of the Universe or the God of the Bible! The term GOD is just a title....not a name! Our U.S. currency reads:"In God We Trust" but who or what God exactly are they referring to? We can't just make assumptions! Sure Hitler use the term 'GOD! But let's be intelligent enough to know that the term 'GOD' is indeed subjective!
@VeraciousOne94 Says:
I've been looking for these words, so many people think an obnoxious or hateful christian is proof that somehow christianity is false. I think it's just low IQ people using fallacies, once again
@Awwfulclasher Says:
The problem is that they believe that it was God's morality
@Bomber_Boi Says:
How could anyone claim to know what someone did or didn't say 2000 years ago? Idiots like this tend to forget that the Bible was written by cavemen who never even met Jesus when he was alive. Only the fully indoctrinated have such severe cases of cognitive dissonance. Monotheism needs to face the same end as the other 10,000 gods and religions that came before it. Secular societies should refuse to allow authoritarian indoctrination in the form of modern religion to continue to exist
@jaredsouter4879 Says:
God is a made up figure by man to explain things less educated people didn’t understand
@joelkinnunen6148 Says:
yeah but when a religion does to this day so much more damage than good it should de destroyed...
@reecetrahan6169 Says:
Frank is always so relaxed. It’s like God is talking through him.
