Turek is onto something when he says most people around the world believe in god. The recent rise in "Nones" in the US to 29% can be a bit misleading. Pew studies have shown that the number of atheists has remained relatively constant, around 4%. So what's going on. Occam's Razor applies, the simplest answer is that the religious are failing to do the job of maintaining religiosity in the culture. This is what we'd expect, people who believe in god and the supernatural but leaving religion if the religious are failing to maintain religious cultural. The funny aspect of this failure is that it is human nature and not religious dogma that drives people to blame others rather than blaming themselves. Religious people are blaming anyone and everyone for the failure of religion to maintain its hold on people in the modern era. This is fine by me. One cannot fix a problem if one is trying to fix the wrong cause, in this case a belief atheism is to blame. So I'm actually all for it, keep blaming atheism so we'll continue to see a steady rise in the percentage of Nones in America. I sometimes wonder if the Evangelicals ever stop to ponder just how immoral and repugnant Trump is to the moral and good people of America. My guess is the Evangelicals will double down on immorality and go for some even less moral than Trump once Trump is out of the picture and continue to blame liberals, atheism, and communism for all their religious persecution complexes.

When I had a discussion with an athiest at my workplace, it didn't go as smooth as you made it seem it should and that's probably partly due to your speaking ability. So anyways I had gotten stuck on the Cosmological argument when I had said how can nothing come from something he refuted with well what about your God and of course I said that God was eternal. He did not want to accept that even though the universe had been proven to have a beginning that had to have a beginner. To speak the truth, the only reliable way to convert an atheist is with the following tactics:
1. Pick off those who have no critical thinking skills for whatever reason. The elderly, the mentally handicapped, and the young ones should be the most effective targets. And those who are emotionally vulnerable for whatever reason are very nice targets as well. If they are susceptible to scams or cults, they are also ripe to be converted.
2. Alternatively, outbreed them. Islam is one of the fastest growing religions. You know why? Because they have on average a lot of kids. That doesn't have anything to do with interactions with atheists, though, so ignore that one.
3. Erode their personality with clever information control. This one requires a lot of time and teamwork, though. The way this works is you befriend them and convince other Christians to befriend them as well. As their social environment consists mostly of Christians, their beliefs and attitudes might slowly align. But make sure to replace parasocial contacts as well. I dunno how to do that last part but it should theoretically work out this way.

Here's the thing. If there's a beginning, that means A begging. Which means what actually happened. Did it begin with the BB? Or did it start in 6 day creations? Where stars, the sun, the earth, air, water, the mountains, the rivers, the oceans, the lakes, birds, animals, fish, (insects, bacterias, viruses?, microbes, etc) and two humans came to existence in fully formed, fully grown and fully matured out of nothing in 6 days. I think the Transcendental Argument is a pretty powerful argument. But the Bible tells us that "The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple." Psamls 19:7. The '' BASIC '' message of God to the human is that '' YOU '' believe in God and be kind to other human beings and in the RETURNED God will reward you with a new life in Paradise.
* The Quran ONLY guides you how to become a good human being "Nothing Else".

* No one can force you to become a good human being.
* You MUST work HARD to become a good human being.

As Frank has said many times, there are plenty of evidence for God's existence (now, if the it will be accepted as such, it's another story). Then, when atheists don't have answers (where in most cases no one is allowed to infer the "God of the gaps" as a reasonable option) their answer is: we just have not found it yet... like, "... give it some time, science will discover it".
At this point it is pretty much obvious that while they are waiting, they have "faith"... (and they would never admit to it) but sure enough, at a minimum, they have "hope".
So, Christians have hope and faith (which must be discarded according to atheists living by evidence) while, atheists have not yet evidence for questions that only God answers by requiring faith and hope.
It is self-defeating to present a God who gives us free will, except for when He forces Himself (or the knowledge of) upon us. Even if I was God I wouldn't want that!...Lol... and for sure I would not follow that one either!
One must really think and ask himself what is the character of God or, when/if He created us, for what purpose? Who is God and/or what He wants from us?
In the heart of the question (Does God exist?), for a Christian it is spiritual and existential, meanwhile, for an atheist it is intellectual and inconsequential.
I usually ask them first: Why not God? Based of their answers, I can then start drawing the level of honesty and seriousness to the conversation.
