2g per kg is way too much imo, unless you're very serious in the gym and think the very small amount of extra gains is worth it compared to eating like 1.2g per kg. Been studying protein needs quite a bit. Also been packing on a lot of muscles during the last year not going over 100g protein a day (I started at 80kg, now at 86kg). Too much protein can hurt your kidneys and the amino acid Methionine can increase the risk of cancer if you're taking too much in. Listen to Stanford Professor Christopher Gardner (he's on Youtube) if you wanna hear a completely different take on protein needs. Also, too much animal protein is toxic to the body.

Dr Gabrielle Lyons just explained a new study that is very good on protein and you can take up to 100 G at a time for muscle protein synthesis

A lot of good information here but I was struck by something in the conversation. An almost desperate wish to ‘not die’. It struck me how sad this seemed because it highlighted a lack of hope or faith for something after this life. The meaning of life has to be much more than just continuing to exist. My faith in God helps me in dealing with my mortality and knowing that there is something much better waiting for me after this life. Just a few random thoughts. Begin the comments on how stupid I am to believe I’m God in 3,2, 1….

Tom needs to do some reading before asking questions and stop interrupting.
@Grant83023 Says:
Someone should tell this fella we have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason, to do more listening than talking, constant interruptions
@phylpott1 Says:
Thank you, Tom. Impact indeed... 😊
@lukenettekoven8469 Says:
Peter, you're such a gangster in how you take the time to explain these complex concepts to all of us normal folks.
@ptortland Says:
OMG! Peter has such outstanding and profound information. If only Tom would shut his mouth and stop interrupting every 10 seconds and trying to get a personal medical consultation out of Peter, it would be so much better an interview. I almost stopped watching the video because Tom was so annoying. But the value of Peter’s information overshadowed that… Barely.

Damn, those venison sticks are EXPENSIVE! $125 for a box of 24 sticks, so eating 4 a day as a snack they would only last 6 days! I have no doubt they are worth every penny, but I would guess that is way out of most people's budgets
@pinnick Says:
Peter: Sometimes, I eat Greek Yogurt. Tom: this seeeeems impossibllllle.
@colinberry6921 Says:
What is the venison stick brand that he recommends?
@richardmiddleton7770 Says:
What about the recent study suggesting upto 100g of protein provides better synthesis than 30g? 100g was the highest the study went upto so it could be even higher and my guess is it is unlimited! This stands to reason as early man would not portion out his protein after a kill!
@mementhusiast Says:
15:29 I like this guy but is he really gonna say he casually eats a $20-25 snack? 😂 Those venison bars look great and definitely good/healthy for you, but that price is kinda high for the average person, especially if you're purely eating them for protein.
@semaaral2498 Says:
Love this will try ASAP.. Thanks a lot. Did you share the whole recipe pls? Thanks..❤
@kevinnaidu8789 Says:
Too complicated...go look at the longest lived people & do what they did.
@kevinnaidu8789 Says:
Tom lives in absolute fear...that'll take him sooner than he's ready to go😂
@OrkunBasar Says:
Why does he have to interrupt Peter so much? Yes it’s a conversation but let the guest finish his point first. It’s so rude.
@annasena9414 Says:
Tom, you need to have both IF experts and this guy on a panel together, because they are saying the opposite things. I intermittent fast for autophagy and this guest is saying it’s not true. It’s confusing.
@utubesgreat4me Says:
Heading says ‘I eat this snack everyday’ yet the video is 2.5 hours long? That’s a long time to tell us what the snack is.
@pwcoon Says:
Tom talks way to much!!!! Sometimes is best to listen!!
@mariejones7136 Says:
I do my own experiment.intermittant fasting and keto diet and 45 hours a week of fasting my ketones go to 2.8 and this week my glucose was 60...i do take berberine when i eat..

Q: "Do you guys look at the microbiome at all?" A: "Nope, don't know what to do with it yet, nobody knows what to do with it, anyone who says they know what to do with it, is trying to sell you a supplement " Seriously!!??? It's amazing that a guy who claims to be a "scientist", makes such a bold and irresponsible claim... Perhaps he should study it more... Here is just one example. https://news.uchicago.edu/explainer/how-microbiome-affects-human-health-explained#:~:text=Research%20is%20underway%20on%20how,sclerosis%2C%20depression%2C%20anxiety%2C%20rheumatoid

Let’s not concern ourselves with animal suffering at its slaughter (we harvest plants, not animals gentlemen); let’s just concern ourselves with the cortisol we ingest as we pursue bodily perfection.
@mariejones7136 Says:
Geez just do whats best for you..i eat 2 meals a day keto diet and intermittent fasting and 21:37 48 hours of fasting most weeks...i eat grass fed grass finished meat and wild caught fish and organic pasture raised eggs and veggies..no fruit ...im in ketosis and my glucose is low.. excercise a few days a week. I will be 70...

1:13:11 If I could go anywhere in the world (universe) without another living being - I STILL WOULD TAKE IT! IT'S A NO-BRAINER IMO.
@patrickm3807 Says:
Why are you guys taking rapamycin? Do you both have stents and/or transplants?
@thelatestgreatest8082 Says:
The more this guy talks the more foolish I realize he is. Tom, you should never have people like this on again. You should vet your people a little better. This guy is a complete fool
@thelatestgreatest8082 Says:
This guy talking to Tom is a complete fool. The way you know is he has a clear-cut answer that goes across the board for everyone. Everybody is different and needs different things. And bottom line fasting is the absolute best thing for longevity. And that has been proven time and time again
@RobCGilliam Says:
Just seems like way to much protein for those looking to maintain ideal weight and muscle. Back when I was lifting weights hard core in my 20s I may have hit protein numbers like 150-200 g some days with growth hormone topped out I'm sure. But most days it was probably 100 g. I got up to 190 @ 10% body fat (5'10") on this level. So I look at this now in my early 50s. I'm 170 lb and around 10% body fat. Right near an ideal weight for my size. All I want is to maintain the this 170 lb and muscle tone. It does not make sense that I need more protein than I did to build a lot of muscle in my 20s. My main curiosity is the minimum amount to maintain homeostasis in an active body. Right now it's 30-40 g three times a day eating between 10 am and 6-7 pm. Seems the talk is always about growth and not maintenance.
@techgayi Says:
The protein overload this guy is recommending is outright dangerous, especially if its mostly from animals!
@sprestyly Says:
I don’t eat that much protein, but I’m gaining muscle mass at age 60.
@nonlinearthinking Says:
The reason prevention remains verbal hype & theory is because nothing in our economic model is able to profit from prevention. The entire model is dependent on post illness drug focus & insurance with practically no discount for good maintenance. Its the loss caused by linear education where any value addition implies plus and never from subtraction. Unnoticed most innovations are created by subtraction. If the drug industry is now bigger than food & even defence than the challenge is to figure out new model for profit. Sadly without profit there can only be BS moralising. There has to be new economic models based on prevention. Currently prevention is an individual moral responsibility dependent on self discipline amidst this media blitz where sweet is the only reward.

I see Peter Attia and it's a hard pass. He is such a joke. He's an arrogant, know it all with no hard science to back up his position.

My son at his stage of body building has to consume 180 of protein; and he has found it extremely difficult to eat that much protein; I tried a ketones diet last year in January to March, ( very difficult diet to follow ), and when I started; I was 238 lbs. from, in those three months I lost over 30+ lbs, which exceeded my goal; so I stop the keto diet at, on or about 205 lbs. Well, that didn't matter I continued to lose weight at the same rate and it finally stopped on or about 172.4 .. which in case you cannot picture it; I lost a massive amount of body mass. Basically, picture a PoW, and now I also, like my son have to consume a massive amount of protein, and no joy; so I threw a bunch of carbs in there and after two months I finally gained ten, ( 10 lbs. ), of lean muscle, ( working out every other day ), so be careful with keto. We have an abundance of deer in Tennessee also; but there have been cases of deer brain disease; found, so have a professional butcher prepare your cuts. Peace

Sometimes I am surprised at how "surprised" Tom gets with nutritional info shared with him by experts. Peter has been speaking about these topics for awhile on different popular health-focused podcasts.

Certified trainer and biologist here, albeit not currently commercially practicing in biology. There is plenty of great information in this video! Though regarding doing one thing in your life, whether this be caloric restriction, intermittent fasting, or elimination of a given micronutrient, you may still get cancer and be gone in 6 months. Thinking this simplistic way about health, disease, and your life is just that, simplistic. Perhaps a key is to focus on what you want not on what you don't want, living a life based on appreciation, joy, and love rather than letting fear based thoughts and energy overtake your moments.
@kevinburtnick7818 Says:
It's interesting how both Peter and Tom are evidence-based thinkers, yet there's not a shred of evidence for macroevolution, despite their discussions implying otherwise.

Done with Attia at this point. Didn't DeLauer just have a vid saying you can eat up to 100 g of protein (according to a new study). But guys like this talk with absolute confidence whether it's now or previously and whether right or wrong. Science changes? Ok. Won't skip a beat - sorry for convincing you otherwise a couple years ago... But listen now!!! Pffft. Best of luck to him in his adventures but I am outta here.
