When science is settled, science is settled; nothing new to see here! But is science ever really settled? Why would anyone go into a scientific field if there was nothing new to discover or even learn? Scientists interpret data, science does not. Frank shares a conversation he had about this very issue with the guys on The Babylon Bee podcast. ???? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????????????????????????????????? So let’s get this straight, from the apologist- Science doesn’t say anything scientists do… Do you trust science…. Two titles from him talking about how scientists can be bias and him not actually addressing the science itself, but then he also says this?! “A scientific way to show God exists”…what?? Didn’t you just question science and said science doesn’t say anything?? Can anyone explain how this isn’t hypocritical of apologists?

I can see why Frank's so skeptical of scientists. He's assuming they're probably charlatans and grifters because he himself is.
@PringleDinglesonThe3rd Says:
Flip it: Religion doesn’t say anything, believers do
@CreativeYousername Says:
If you distrust scientists, I hope you bring the same distrust to every aspect of your life. Part of life is trusting in people with different skills than you to do the jobs that you can't do yourself. If you trust pilots to safely fly you to your destination, or a mechanic to change your oil, then you should leave it up to the consensus of scientific professionals to critically evaluate data that I'm sure you are unable to evaluate yourself.
@mbkkt9094 Says:
Why does Frank keep talking about science when he repeatedly demonstrates his inability to understand it?
@garrethoien6666 Says:
Well why that religion what data are they using. How could he not see that by swapping the word science for religion it undermines his own belief system….faith I guess

Then again, how often do I hear the words "The Bible says" from believers? Most people easily grasp the meaning of those phrases namely that "Scientists say ..." or "Believers say ...".   It's just that in each case, when the other phrase is being used, people are making an appeal to authority and in certain contexts, it's fine to do so.

A creationist HAS sat on a plane with an atheist. Richard Dawkins mentions it in his book “The God Delusion”. The guy was an evolutionary biologist and as soon as he mentioned this the creationist turned white and went to get another seat. An enlightening conversation stifled and lost because of religious dogma. So yeh. That’s how it normally pans out. With the creationist defalcating his trousers thinking he’s in the presence of Satan. 😂

When I hear someone say “science says” or “ follow the science”, I get very nervous. Science doesn’t belong to any ideology. Science is the never-ending search for new knowledge. That’s what science means in Latin by the way. Knowledge! Not wisdom, not morality, not social policy, but knowledge! What we do with that knowledge is when wisdom, morality, and social policy come into the picture. Knowledge isn’t so easy to come by. Sometimes what we think we know for certain, like the earth looking flat when we stand on it. Turns out not to be so certain. Of course I trust in BASIC scientific truth. Things with overwhelming evidence like gravity or the role humans play in the warming of the planet. But even the best scientists can get things wrong. The brilliant astrophysicist Sir Fred Hoyle believed the universe existed in a steady state forever and had no beginning. But his view once held sacrosanct by all astrophysicists, no longer holds. It’s been superseded by the Big Bang theory. That the universe had a beginning and is still expanding. In the 20th century some of the most respected scientists in the world including Nobel prize winners believed in Eugenics. The reprehensible idea that the human race could be improved by selective breeding. The National Academy of Sciences, The American Medical Association and the Rockefeller Foundation supported it. By the middle of the century it had been thoroughly rejected as quackery. No reputable scientist would have anything to do with this idea. So we all need to get over this notion that just because someone, like a politician, bureaucrat, or even a scientist employs the phrase “science says”, means whatever they’re saying is right. It might be right, but it might also be wrong. And if it’s wrong, it won’t necessarily be a bunch of scientists who say it’s wrong. It might be one guy. Just ask Einstein. 100 scientists wrote a book explaining why his Theory of Relativity was wrong. Einstein responded, “If I were wrong, then one would’ve been enough.” It takes a lot to convince scientists to accept a new theory. Especially if that new theory refutes what they’ve always believed. In some cases, what’s at stake? Their entire career! Richard Feynman, one of the most eminent physicists of the 20th century famously said, “science is the belief in the ignorance of experts.” What Feynman is saying is that a good scientist should always maintain a healthy amount of skepticism. Science is by its nature provisional. Science would stagnate if we merely accepted proclamations of past authorities. So how do we do good science? This is not a new question. Since the 17th century, scientists have employed the scientific method to guide their work. It’s not a perfect guide by any means, but it’s pretty darn good. The method involves formulating a theory, predicting the evidence that should be found if the theory is true, collecting data, analyzing the data, and refining the theory and presenting evidence to other experts. The philosopher Karl Popper added something else to this. He said, “A subject is scientific if and only if it can be falsified. In other words, if a theory can’t be tested or proven wrong, it’s probably not good science. This is just one reason why we have to be very careful about putting too much faith in models. They often can’t be tested. Models are predictions of the future based on current data. They can easily get things wrong. First of all, the future, in case you haven’t noticed, is very hard to predict. The further we go out into the future, the less secure the prediction. Secondly, the data may be incomplete or even erroneous. It’s human nature to want definitive answers. But science can’t always offer those. Furthermore, science is not concerned with fashion, authority, or majority opinion. Case closed is not a scientific expression. Science is never closed. If it was closed after Newton, we’d never have Einstein. Science has to be first and always about pursuing knowledge. Not about advancing a social agenda no matter how noble it might be. Science has no political party. Politicians should use the best available science to help them make informed decisions. But remember, scientific knowledge is not the same as wisdom. As the saying goes, “knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit.” Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad. So let’s continue to look to science for knowledge. Knowledge we can use to improve the world. But let’s not fool ourselves that science has all the answers to all our problems. It doesn’t.
@ShadowTheNinjaKitty Says:
I would say this is true, but I think that for topics that are largely settled people say “science says this” as a way to say that most scientists agree on this. It’s true that science is made up of scientists, but for example I think it makes sense to say “Science says that gravity exists”. Or something of that nature. Of course science itself doesn’t say anything, but enough scientists throughout the years have shown that gravity exists that “science” can be personified and can be said to say that gravity exists. It’s more like saying “the field of science, or the culmination of the science on this particular question says this”. For many other less settled things I don’t think you can say “science” says anything. It’s important to know science itself doesn’t say anything so you know that science is not monolithic and doesn’t have ultimate authority. That’s less important for pretty settled issues, but more important for others. When it comes to COVID, honestly it depends on what you’re asking. If it’s vaccines in general work, of course. Science as a whole has showed they work. It’s based on basic immunological principles. When it comes to if the COVID vaccines work, there’s nuance there. There’s levels to which they work, and it depends on which one.

@STREEEEEET Says:
Science in the scientific sense should only be used when it abide by the scientific method. Most people don't give a thought about this, but if you're strict in your approach, much of what is called scientific is not real science. Take evolution for instance, it's an educated guess that people like to pass it as scientific. It doesn't even get off the ground when you apply the scientific method. Where do you see this natural phenomena of one species turning into another one? How do you test your presumably cause (aka hypothesis) ? It's a castle build on sand.

Science says. All men (and women) lie..wait that doesnt sound right. Who said that..oh right...THE BIBLE SAYS THAT.
@dragonsigner Says:
science is nothing but understanding..and God does say. Lean not on your own understanding , but Trust God in all your ways. Another one is its better to trust God than man.. Don't PUT your trust or faith in man because man will always fail (lie to) you.

So glad for sites like this and AIG, ICR, Creation ministries and the like that have really helped believers to see the fatal flaws in evolution and how much evidence there truly is for a Creator designing this world. For real, the closer we draw to God the more he helps us to see things in this world through his lenses. The more we do that the more we discover just how blinded we were. Sometimes when I look back at that and what God has done it amazes me that God was able to deliver me from everything. He is our Rock and our sure foundation.
@StruckDownNotDestroyed Says:
Here's one I see regularly. The disagreement of theologians and the presence of multiple denominations somehow discredits the Bible but disagreement among scientists over science doesn't discredit science. Yeah, that's not biased at all.
