I strongly dislike Trump and am scared of what will happen if he wins, but trying to shoot him is evil. I feel sad for the man who died and the one injured because they were just volunteers doing what they believed in. They probably spent every weekend going door to door and posting signs. I supported Bernie and can't imagine my friends and I getting shot at a rally for it. I can't imagine my relatives getting shot for volunteering for Kamala Harris. What happened to just saying, "I respect you as a person, but I disagree with you on electoral politics." I had a Republican roommate back in the Bush 43 era, and we had real conversations about politics in which we learned why we believe what we believe. Have you ever read "Futurological Congress" by Stanislov Lem? I was introduced to it many moons ago in a college course about how sci-fi reflects larger societal concerns (the simplest example being 1958's "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and McCarthyism).
FC explores how words and language can be manipulated to change, not only their definitions, but cultural/historical significance.
It is, hands down, my favorite book that I constantly recommend to people; despite the fact no one ever follows my suggestion.
