Should Pastors name false teachers?

????

There are some people in the Christian church that say we ought not to expose false teachers or publicly name names. Rather, we should just focus on preaching the gospel. But is that biblical? People get all bent out of shape over issues like this simply as they, themselves, don't know their Bible very well. They read it every day, maybe, but still make mistakes. The biggest mistake? Reading the words as translated WITH TODAY'S understanding of those words and phrases! "Judge not!" is one I get over and over and it irritates me, for not a few sentences later Jesus then says "WHEN you judge!" It's reading it "literally" in a 21st century manner with no thought nor care for the "intended" meaning that was put in there... by men living 2000 years or more ago... in another culture... about events we don't always know exactly what happened in... IN A LANGUAGE UTTERLY UNLIKE OURS! Judge not doesn't mean "never judge". Besides, it's only half the sentence anyway, AND the sentence is taken out of context. In today's vernacular it would be literally translated as: "Don't judge others for something you are doing yourself without FIRST dealing with your own issue. THEN help them deal with the issue you've just learnt how to deal with yourself." Wordy, no? But that's the meaning. EG: Bob has a problem with pornography, and Jim wants Bob to stop and get closer to Jesus. However JIM also has a problem with pornography, but BOB's issue is public. Jim has still managed to keep his issue private. Jim needs to sort out HIS OWN issue with porn first, THEN he can help Bob! Same for issues like "Don't name names!" - it's a misapplication of other Christian practices - and the main one I see misapplied is: if a Brother has sinned against you, go and speak to them alone first to try and reconcile. If that fails, take two others from the Church with you. If that fails, take the matter BEFORE the whole Church. If that fails, that Brother is to be excommunicated. And that has been skewed into: "Don't name bad preachers! Tell them privately that they are wrong! Don't do it in public!" Problem? The false preachers and teachers are not committing a sin against you PRIVATELY, as is the intended meaning of the misapplied verse. They are preaching and teaching PUBLICALLY, so the response is therefore meant to be PUBLIC! Just as Paul and others did in the Bible.

I agree false prophets and teachers need to be exposed. However, I also agree preach Jesus! False prophets and false teachers, prosperity, woman vs man, Godly attire, the lifestyle and behavior of the godly and ungodly politics, etc. 100% these things needs to be preach, but among these messages where is the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

It's mainly the evangelicals that are false teachers I've noticed. Like John piper, Joel Osteen, John mcarthur, Rick Warren, Allen parr, Mike Winger, all female pastors. Joyce Myers. I mean the list goes on and on with the evangelicals. I'm IFB. Todd white & Benny hinn is the greatest example of what I'm talking about and it's all evangelicals being attacked by modernist. They target the weaker links in order to try and destroy the big one which is IFB.

I would have been like ok let me preach Jesus rhen, Matthew 16:11 How is it you don’t understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” 12 Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. - Jesus 🤣 This is a constant repeated theme through out the Word of God and this pastor speaking nailed it. Most people Dont understand there are 3 basic forms of Judgement the 2 we are not to Practice, those being 1 that ridicules abasing an Image Bearer of God, which tears apart a persons since of value, dignity, and worth and the other condemning- this judgement is what the Sadducees and Pharisees for practicing it points to one's guilt and takes upon itself to be Judge, Jury, Prosecutor and in their lives also the role of Executioner. the 3rd we are to practice and that is Discernment which Leads to what is Good, Correction and Reproof. It comes as no shock in this present age the only 1 form that is Good and commanded to be practiced is the main 1 people call Evil.

THERE IS NOT ONE PREACHER THAT KNOWS THE BIBLE BUT ME ,,,,,,,, JESUS
@derrickpurdy7011 Says:
The problem with that is the one naming names should be sure they aren't false teachers as well. Paul doing it is one thing but in these modern times, most so-called pastors are automatically suspect.
@djhu306 Says:
Hmmmm... Paul did it BUUUUT Jesus did not. Who's example should we follow? Did not Paul say "Imitate me as I imitate Christ," or did I confuse that with someone else? One can address heresies and matters of doctrine without naming names AND go to those brothers to try and win them back to Christ as is prescribed in Matthew 18.
@trashtoter Says:
so what happens when someone calls out that preacher for calling out hagen and copelen.
@aaronmonroe7932 Says:
If pastors do name false teachers, it's more than likely someone considers them to be a false teacher. Like In Paul's day. Paul called people false prophet and people was calling him false prophet.
@dokoria6526 Says:
The problem isn't actually the naming but the risk of blaspheming and grieving the holy spirit, which is a serious offense in the body of christ. Many people would view people who have a different doctrine to them as false teachers and would then call out their teaching as false even if it is trully inspired by the holy spirit. Doing so to their peril. Paul on the other hand - someone deeply rooted in the knowledge of christ and his gospel could afford to take the risk of calling out false teachers as someone who had been entrusted by God with spearheading the rise of christianity in the gentile nations.
@jayhawk2689 Says:
The entire Charismatic movement is occultic based AND they name names of discernment editors who expose them! They call us Heresy Hunters and that we should be removed.
@georgepierson4920 Says:
Since the Officially Autographed King James Bible with the red words and gold leaf finish is the final authority, where does that place God?
@georgepierson4920 Says:
Protestants claim that the King James 1611 Bible with the red words and gold leaf finish can decide who is a false teacher, yet, every Protestant contradicts God, the Church, the bible, and each other.
@dandugo2020 Says:
Should pastors be calling other pastors false teachers simply because they disagree with their doctrine? No.
@wenhari06 Says:
First of all I respectfully disagree. Most of the names Paul actually calls out were not false teachers. They were people who were either hurting him or the work of Christ. The second reason I disagree is that online content is a permanent record. Because of that we need extreme care especially when we dont leave room for growth and repentance. The decision to "call out" online, leaving a permanent record, with half researched facts may hurt the Christian witness in the long run because virtually everyone has been called a false teacher by someone. In the eyes of the world we are all wrong according to someone else. This is not a decision that should be arrived at loosely. Lets try address these things within our communities unless we have a good reason to take it public (online)

Thank you for using the Word so valiantly. One question, I may be wrong, but I understand that Rick Warren welcomes Buddhists, Hindus, and other religious leaders to share their faith from his church's pulpit, he has said that if we love the pope, we love God. I love the pope because he is a fellow human but was he equating him to God's liking, especially since the pope is known to be such a figure in the Roman Catholic belief. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I hope this isn't true. But since we are being honest among brethren on this subject, and you, Frank, have said numerous times that Rick is a good friend of yours I'd like to understand this. Maybe you can give me some insight about it. Thank you.
@ELIASMARTUS Says:
Hey Cross Examined.........there is a big problem here with what you said......Paul only mentioned people out of his Church, in his own circle not outsiders which a lot of people don't understand. Nowadays in every Church are people that criticize and judge other Preachers and Teachers, not from their own Church. I hope you see the difference.
@ricksaunders8074 Says:

@BrianBadondeBo Says:
Paul was constantly on defense, it's only natural he'd have a paranoid mindset like that. The disciples who actually knew Jesus sent emissaries to keep an eye on Paul and keep him in line
@robertzedwick4368 Says:
I certainly agree with you Dr. Frank, that we should absolutely expose false teachers (like flat earthers). However, some preachers (not limited to them) misinterpret scriptures and end up falsely accusing others, like faith teachers. Your example of Loraine Livingston is one of them.
@Jtesfaofficial Says:
If you read the rest of the verse in 2 Timothy 4:10 you'll realize that deserted just means he left (departed) Paul. He wasnt calling him a false teacher. How? Because in the same verse he mentions people that departed from him like Titus who clearly wasnt a false teacher so that verse isolated could be lead to dangerous theology if read alone. If he was naming Demas as a false teacher or one who walked away from the faith then why would he group people that have been faithful in the same sentence? It's a rhetorical question. Read for yourself. The phrase in love with this present world then means something else other than what we with our western eyes think it means. Notice it didn't say he was Worldly. He just loved the world. But I agree with all the other scriptures mentioned
@StrengthandHonor Says:
“Therefore, although I wrote to you, I did NOT do it for the sake of him who had done the wrong, nor for the sake of him who suffered wrong, but that our care for you in the sight of GOD might appear to you.” (2 Corinthians 7:12) “My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment.” (James 3:1) Now, for the record, I agree that "false teachers" should be exposed--NOT because I (or others) say so, but because THAT is what we (as Judeo-Christians, ambassadors of truth and light) are required to do, because it is our charge and duty to do so. (2 Timothy 2) “These things you have done, and I kept silent; You thought that I was altogether like you; But I will rebuke you and set them in order before your eyes.” (Psalm 50:21) “I charge you therefore before GOD and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season, Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering, and teaching.” (2 Timothy 4:1-2) “Therefore, do not be partakers with them. For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord, walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth) finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with unfruitful works of darkness but rather expose them.” (Ephesians 5:7-11) “But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the Word of GOD deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of GOD.” (2 Corinthians 4:2) “But you are a chosen generations, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light; who once were not a people, but are now the people of GOD, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” (1 Peter 2:9-10) “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of GOD abides forever.” (1 John 2:15-17) “For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smoothing words, and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.” (Romans 16:18) “For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light less his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light that his deeds may be clearly seen that they have been done in God.” (John 3:20-21) “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Luke 16:13; Matthew 6:24) “But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of GOD, who will render to each one according to his deeds. Eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness--indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, on every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek; but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For there is no partiality with GOD.” (Romans 2:5-11) Joshua 24:15 John 8:32 & 14:6 1 Corinthians 2:1-9 Psalms 23, 28:7, 34, 35, 37:30-31 & 40 Ephesians 6:10-18 Strength and Honor!

The Apostle Paul did. Why shouldn't we?
@JD-ss4qf Says:
Kenneth Hagin was no false teacher. He taught what Jesus taught. A difference of doctrinal opinions now days constitutes a false teacher. Paul warned people of those who left the faith, in Love. He loved them. People now days do not love the ones who are teaching anything a little different than their also flawed doctrine. Good thing that we have God to sort it all out later.
