It hinges on how much agency we grant to ai devices. Google maps can tell me to turn right, but it has no agency. In a self driving mode, it’s the agency to make the car turn that is dangerous. I prefer AI in advisory roles, always buffered by humans (who can be made safer by AI oversight/alarms, etc.)

Why mandatory? The platforms that integrate that interface element he describes would be more desirable, so people would ise them without it being mandatory. Not only that, but it being mandatory makes it so the exception to that mandate, and there are always exceptions, is able to easily manipilate narratives by using the apparent legitimacy of the sources.
