Apologetics DO have to be careful not to come across as argumentative and combative. However, many Christian opponents are viciously argumentative and combative themselves!
@jordanwolff5243 Says:
Apologetics is really just using mental gymnastics to continue the lies of religious beliefs. At this point in the present day, the only way to continue being a Christian, Muslim, ect. is to never be under any aetheistic scrutiny. If you never check out why people might disbelieve in gods/angels/demons, you can more easily indulge in the meanest trick ever played, religion.

Once you die that’s it, you were lied to as a child, so was I, let’s break free from childhood lies and abuse, you’re an adult now right so you know how sad and easy it is to lie to kids, please don’t give them false hope, tell them your god is a lie and they should enjoy the one life they have in this puny universe, don’t let your trauma block them from being happy

Hello. I am an atheist. I define atheism as suspending any acknowledgement as to the existence of a god until sufficient evidence is introduced. My position is that *_I have no good reason to acknowledge the existence of gods._* And here is the evidence as to why I currently hold to such a position. Below are 10 facts I must consider when evaluating the claim made by theists that a god exists. To be clear, these are not premises for an argument concluding there to be no gods. These are simply facts I take into account when evaluating the claim. 1. I personally have never observed a god. 2. I have never encountered a person whom has claimed to have observed a god. 3. I know of no accounts of persons claiming to have observed a god that were willing or able to demonstrate or verify their observation for authenticity, accuracy, or validity. 4. I have never been presented a valid logical argument which also employed sound premises that lead deductively to a conclusion that a god(s) exists. 5. Of the 46 logical syllogisms I have encountered arguing for the existence of a god(s), I have found all to contain either fallacies or false or unsubstantiated premises. 6. I have never observed a phenomenon in which the existence of a god was a necessary antecedent for the known or probable explanation for the causation of that phenomenon. 7. Several proposed (and generally accepted) explanations for observable phenomena that were previously based on the agency of a god(s), have subsequently been replaced with rational, natural explanations, each substantiated with evidence that excluded the agency of a god(s). I have never encountered _vice versa._ 8. I have never experienced the presence of a god through intercession of angels, divine revelation, the miraculous act of divinity, or any occurrence of a supernatural event. 9. Every phenomena that I have ever observed has *_emerged_* from necessary and sufficient antecedents over time without exception. In other words, I have never observed a phenomenon (entity, process, object, event, process, substance, system, or being) that was created _ex nihilo_ - that is instantaneously came into existence by the solitary volition of a deity. 10. All claims of a supernatural or divine nature that I have encountered have either been refuted to my satisfaction, or do not present as falsifiable. ALL of these facts lead me to the only rational conclusion that concurs with the realities I have been presented - and that is the fact that there is *_no good reason_* for me to acknowledge the existence of a god. I have heard often that atheism is the denial of the Abrahamic god. But denial is the active rejection of a substantiated fact once credible evidence has been presented. Atheism is simply withholding such acknowledgement until sufficient credible evidence is introduced. *_It is natural, rational, and prudent to be skeptical of unsubstantiated claims, especially extraordinary ones._* I welcome any cordial response. Peace.

I think the biggest misconception about apologetics is that it's about persuading others of religious beliefs. I think it is more about giving people who already believe something they can hang onto as a justification for those beliefs. I suspect very few people are ever convinced to start believing by the arguments such as Kalam, moral and ontological. It's about letting people think that beliefs they already hold have some grounding in reality to prop them up.
@MagpieOAO Says:
We are to instruct others in gentleness and with love. Genuinely wanting them to be better off. Browsing the comments, you can see the anti-missionaries with scornful mockery and bitter vitriol. They aren't going to convince anyone, the point is instead to bully people into submission, or tear them down for their own pleasure. Which person would you trust has your best interests at heart? A gentle loving mentor, or a scornful seething mocker? That is why we must be patient. But also do not cast pearls before swine or give what is holy to the dogs. You will not convince the mocker. Show your enemy love and kindness. Proverbs 25:21 21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; 22 for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you. When we are judged, our knowledge is considered in our judgement. Those who scorn and reject with full knowledge of the gospel and kindness from those who sought to save them will receive greater punishment. Their own conscience will accuse them Romans 2:14 14 Even Gentiles, who do not have God’s written law, show that they know his law when they instinctively obey it, even without having heard it. 15 They demonstrate that God’s law is written in their hearts, for their own conscience and thoughts either accuse them or tell them they are doing right. 16 And this is the message I proclaim—that the day is coming when God, through Christ Jesus, will judge everyone’s secret life. Be prepared to give defense, but do so with love as the goal, not to 'win arguments' but to see them better off. Skill comes with practice and in particular, connection to the holy spirit. But Remember John 15:18 18 “If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. 19 The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.

The 3 essential parts of apologetics? Make evidence lacking claims, make more evidence lacking claims, then do more of the first or second. Effective isn't really part of the process.
@Bomtombadi1 Says:
1) lie 2) never answer questions directly 3) change the subject at all costs
@Matthew_Holton Says:
The three things that are essential if you are going to be a successful christian apologist 1) lie about atheism This is the main one, and Frank is really adept at this, he does it all the time. You know the usual tropes 'atheists just want to sin', 'atheists believe the universe created itself out of nothing', that kind of thing. 2) Lie about science This is also something Frank does and so does just about every other apologist. Lie about the evidence for evolution, lie about cosmology, astronomy, physics and most especially archaeology and history. Say things like 'science confirms the bible!' and 'archaeology proves the old testament' etc. 3)Lie about what the bible says This is less obvious but also very important. Do not admit that the bible supports slavery (it does), that it commands human sacrifice (it does) or it contains numerous failed prophecies, forgeries, false claims, contradictions, immoral commandments etc etc --- once you have these 3 vital skills mastered you are ready to make serious money from credulous believers!
@oscargr_ Says:
Apologetics is a science,.. 😂😂😂 It's the science of the supernatural. Its finding ways to explain the lack of evidence. Finding ways to fight cognitive dissonance related to biblical doctrine. It's not about finding truth, its about defending preconceptions. Its still the Kalam, the fine tuning, the ontological, ....

There's a difference in head knowledge and anointed revealed knowledge from God, vail lifted. It's a personal fellowship/relationship with God. @rachelhayhurst-mason7846 Says:
I watched an interview by Prof. Harry Prosen, explaining how his new book apparently biologically "solves" the problem of the human condition. The overwhelming reader response was that the biological evidence would blow you away. Every piece of biological "evidence" used was hypothetical, based on established presumptions not fact. Even worse, the stories used referenced words like 'spiritual', 'psyche', 'instinctual' (ie intangible, not 'biological') and The Bible multiple times. Here is the conclusion of his book: our nervous system "proves" that humans are not bad but instead good. Our nervous system "proves" (with no explanation as to how) that our morals are inbuilt and that Adam and Eve are actually the heroes of The Bible, not the villains as recorded. The whole time I was honestly waiting for that breakthrough evidence but was instead left confused. The argument I always hear against God's existence is "lack of scientific proof", yet when an atheist Professor tells what can only be described as a story, like-minded people lap it up as if it's irrefutable! All I was thinking is "this whole theory is stealing from God and branding itself as fact"! This convinced me of the hypocrisy of the common argument that Christians extrapolate meaning by twisting facts to fit. Honestly, I've found more reliability in the historical evidence for Jesus Christ. Anyone who refuses to see it simply doesn't want to.

love should be the motivator, salvation the end. Apologists do not cause anyone who is here to bash Christianity to examine the evidence. Most Christians are POORLY EDUCATED on science, history, and philosophy. By entering in to a forum to discuss what you have not studied will yoeld only BAD RESULTS from the God haters. I find almost NO SEEKERS anymore and only GOD HATERS that ignore ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING that hurts their ideologies and dogma based in willful ignorance. The FACT that DNA CODE CANNOT SELF-CREATE AND SELF-ASSEMBLE INTO CELLS...is a game ending moment that neither side understands. Even the best of apologists still act as if "there's a chance" when speaking on the issue! STOP APOLOGIZING FOR OWNING the atheists on the science! It's GAME OVER on the UNASSUMED OBSERVATIONAL SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE! WE WON! There is not a possibility in our earth...let alone a billion earths...let alone a universe...let alone TRILLIONS UPON TRILLIONS UPON TRILLIONS of atheists imaginary universes! The Apologetics Issue: Why Presupp/Based Apologetics Should Be The Only Apologetics. I'm sure you have heard the famous expressions from atheists: -Give me proof beyond a reasonable doubt. -Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. So what would the claptrap actually be? Direct spatial evidence of God himself? (And considering God is the cause of the spatial, wouldn't that be an oxymoron? A rhetorical request?) Cause otherwise it wouldn't be "proof beyond a reasonable doubt", or "extraordinary evidence", so to say. Which is impossible to do, which in turn keeps their "unconvinced" card in play. Opening the stage curtains to the greatest theatrical play: Trying to woo one with the maxed-out potential of playing hard to get. -The evidence is unconvincing! You MISS the point. You cannot be convinced! (Did you mean the imaginary multiverse cope by any chance?) -i can be convinced by any proof/evidence actually. ! Like what exactly?! The HELL do you want?! (puns indeed intended) -..Like direct spatial evidence of God. ..You are invincible. And with that, the push for proof is.. shooed. End of act. And sure enough, they don't want the charade to end either, ascertained and self-evident by their incessant prompting for proof still and all. Oblivious to the bare ludicrosity of it all. Or is it out of compulsion, or just compulsed? Reckon it's their fixated attempt at concealing their pseudo standing in the charade. Added they want to save the opportune to strut their weaving skills, it's their whole shtick after all. The dodgy champion of beliefs, dodging even it's very belief! K. yourself O. Anyone asking for proof at all on THE MATTER OF GOD to begin with is already a cocksure sign that they are of the kind mentioned above. Affixed to do the aforementioned deeds, nay, hell-bent on it. The classical apologist dishonors God by elevating these children to the position of judge with God being the one on trial, laughable, of course it results in gavel pummeling enthusiasts. Now what the based apologist, formerly pressupp does is confiscate it. The classical apologist often say that based apologetics is the death of apologetics. Exactly, because there is nothing to discuss about the existence of God when everybody already knows that God exists. It/classical apologetics in fact only works to feed and strengthen the atheist's delusion. The definition of atheism starts with the letter "a", without, wilfull rejection of God right from the get go. You can't step into their materialist house (worldview) after that and cause any change as their worldview is already set. They are in fact eagerly waiting for you to step in and show you their invincible mental gymnastics. All debates or discussions on the matter of God with no basis on God is a circus, their circus. There is nothing you can do to make them concede that God exists within/by agreeing to the confines of their own terms, which only serves to, I repeat, feed their delusion. Issue: God was not the God you can reason to, God is the God you can't reason without. Colossians 1:16-17, Romans 11:36. The only thing you can do forth is lay to waste their baseless play house to absurdity for them to get the message. If they still choose absurdity over knowledge, then shake the dust off your feet and leave them. The classical apologist is like the fool who builds his house on the sand. Colossians 2:8. The based apologist who base their house on the scripture is the one who builds his house on the rock. Matthew 7:24. The based apology also works as a powerful gun (Atheist Mouth Zipper: AMZ) to shut the mouth of unbelievers, the goats, and move on to the sheep who will hear the Lord's voice. John 10:27-28. It ties the unbeliever's very own supposed skepticism of God into a knot, resulting in an abandonment of all previous acknowledgements. Beauty in irony. Romans 1:22. Why call it Based and not Presupp? It reveals the baselessness of the opposition all the more as their ultimate authority: their reasoning without basis, is naturally reduced to mere opinions and all.
@StruckDownNotDestroyed Says:
Jesus sent His disciples out to proclaim the gospel and reason from the word of God but He also said, "if they will not hear your words, shake the dust off your feet". Matthew 10:14 Leave them for God to deal with. Engaging in pointless debates, arguments and trading insults will do nothing but enable more mockery and bring you down to their level. "Do not answer a fool according to his folly, Lest you also be like him" Proverbs 26:4
