The group that deciphered the original texts and chose what to put in what we call the Bible added things that weren't of the texts in order to keep us in line and they took out things they didn't think we would believe. Lucifer and hell weren't in the original texts they were added. Different countries have different versions of the Bible also because they have taken from the book multiple times.

All bibles since 1881 use the Alexandrian text from a cult starting with Origen who didn't believe in the resurrection, the virgin birth or that Christ was God manifest in the flesh. Over 36,000 changes from the majority text that was used for the KJV. They used only 3 codices for this. Vaticanus, Alexandrinus, and Siniaticus which don't agree with each other. People do not adhere to the King James just to be "old fashioned". There are doctrinal reasons for this that every true Bible believing Christian should know about. Read Riplingers "New Age Bible Versions" for a full collation and outline of this. God bless.

I don’t mean to sew division because I love my Protestant brothers and sisters in Christ, but the Catholic/Orthodox Bible is much older than the Protestant one. It wasn’t until recently that I understood the difference, but for over 1000 years, the same 72 books were utilized in every Bible until Martin Luther came along. Even if you disagree, I’d encourage you to read them in learning more about our history as Christians as they give more insight into the time and period leading up to the coming of our saviour, Jesus Christ.
@avr01 Says:
I think triangulation is important. You must take what you read or hear, and triangulate in the scriptures. If it bears the fruits of the Spirit, brings you to do good, amplify your faith, and follow the Savior with full trust and give your life to him, I think we can be reasonably sure it is of God. God works out in the open, not in secret as the enemy does. "In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established" (2 Cor 13:1). What is meant by "adding/taking away from the word"? Various interpretations can be made, and others in the comments have made sound arguments that John wasn't necessarily referring to the entirety KJV of Bible, but I think it's safe to say that since satan may try to emulate fruits of the Spirit, yet fails every time, one can put Divine stock in the spiritual test shown in Galatians 5:22. IMHO if what we read passes this test, and can be triangulated throughout scriptures, we can be certain it is of God.

I agree we should stick to the scriptures. God’s power still works today though and people still have physical encounters with Christ, read the scriptures and it will tell you that the gifts are for today you shouldn’t deny that truth. I’ve seen many healing miracles and I’ve commanded evil spirits in the name of Jesus. I went on a mission trip two weeks ago and many people got supernaturally healed and came to Christ and I have video and audio of some of the encounters.

The teaching authority of the Catholic Church is obtained both from Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. Protestants tend to overlook the importance of Sacred Tradition in an effort to hold scripture as their sole basis of faith. Catholics do observe Sacred Scripture with high importance, as it is the inspired word of God. It is actually through the eyes of apostolic Tradition that scripture can be most fully understood, because they are so closely tied. The composition of the New Testament in fact, was not begun until nearly two decades after Christ’s death, and the books were slowly completed during the span of about fifty years. During this time, Christianity was based solely on tradition. That is, the teachings that were passed down from Christ’s apostles, which were received from the lips of Jesus, or through divine revelation or inspiration. Christ instituted His Church as the authentic authority to interpret scripture, and to transmit, instruct, and explain the essential tenets of Christianity. It is in this way that the teaching authority of the Catholic Church utilizes both Sacred Scripture as well as Sacred Tradition to guide the faithful. And we know Christ instituted Peter as the one in charge of His Church (symbolized by giving him the keys to the kingdom), the Catholic Church.

So, why doesn’t the curse happen then? It seems that Revelations makes a statement that isn’t true. Perhaps that is indicative of it not being part of the Canon. Furthermore, why would anyone think the Protestant Canon is right? Maybe the Eastern Orthodox or the Coptics got it right. You better make sure or the penalty for failure is pretty strong. Of course, experience teaches us that it is nonexistent.

The consequences of adding and subtracting to the Bible is you will add or subtract AGAIN in the future to suit your agenda. Catholic bible was and still has 73 books. Who made it to only 66 books?
@MrGuitarman8000 Says:
Paul called himself an apostle I'm thinking? He heard the Lord speak to him and was given a task to preach. Being saved covers that but he wrote and explained in many gospels. The bible is living! Only 66 books and Moses, David, Solomon, prophets etc inspired by God wrote the as a unmovable pure truth. Plus established churches of and for Jesus Christ the WORD. One of the twelve yes and no Thomas was not counted until he believed and called Jesus my LORD and my God. GOD! So you can have great knowledge and a puffy title but not know God and be exempt from the title apostle. It fits because Mathew was voted in by the group and Paul was brought in by light a miracle and Jesus voice! Like Manasseh and maybe his brother Aphriam seemed to be added to the twelve tribes of Israel replacing the one not mentioned? Crazy story but look up in NUMBERS, the the stories. Reuben, S = Simeon, G = Gad, J = Judah, I = Issachar, Z = Zebulun, E = Ephraim, M = Manasseh, B = Benjamin, D = Dan, A = Asher, N = Naphtali.

Good grief! The Catholic church chooses a fallen human to be the spiritual leader of their faith (POPE). I don't see that choice in my NKJ Bible. But, God did say this would happen at the Garden of Eden from the tree of life...
@JDDK28 Says:
This actually IS a stark point. Because the church also adds to the Bible today. They add to say we don’t need to keep Torah, even though Messiah DID keep it and we’re supposed to imitate Him. They add to say we don’t need to eat clean because of Paul’s vision in Acts, even though the scripture is a reference to other people and not food. And people will fight to the death to not have to obey, and still say they follow scripture. The whole Bible is applicable. As said in the video, all 66 books.
@theeternalsbeliever1779 Says:
The single boldest example of adding things to scripture is by far 1 Jhn 5:7-8 where KJV translators added everything from "in heaven" to "on earth" in order to make the trinity doctrine appear to be biblical. It completely altered the theme of the letter where John talks about the relationship between the Father and Son, as well as how Christians can be part of that relationship.

Logical fallacies abound in Christendom. "The church fathers don't always agree." *_It does NOT matter if there is agreement, for Truth is NEVER a democracy on which to be voted as the 4th century church fathers had done, gathering to DECIDE what scripture was to mean._* In the late 4th century, Church Fathers ADDED to scripture to force upon its flock the new idea of Trinity and a blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which is the only unforgivable sin. Instead of having "denominations" which each have their own view of what scripture means, we need to give up such egoistic fixtures and return to *_utter humility to God Almighty!_* For too long members of the church have remained humble to the perversions of man holding their *_interpretations_* to be sacred. When given a chance to shrug off the abomination of Trinity, Martin Luther and other Protestants ignored the opportunity and preferred to remain with the 4th century abomination. 😎♥✝🇺🇸💯 There is logic in scripture and in God's Truth. Too many "modern" Christians-in-Name-Only mangle logic in order to teach blasphemy, like the Pharisees in Christ's day. Some achieve logic but still fall short, clinging to old traditions because of confirmation bias. We must *_empty_* ourselves on a regular basis, giving up ALL we *_think_* we know in order to connect more perfectly to God's wholesome Truth. Please forgive the copy and paste. The following comes from a reply to a post where the author was asking whether this scripture refers to sll of the bible, or part, and couldn't remember what council it was that the books to be included in the bible. Not if you understand it's context and all the scriptural and historical proof that makes it clear John was referring only to the book he was then writing, the book of Revelation. The other books of the bible were not brought together into what we now have as the bible until over 250 years later at the Council of Nicea (held at Nicea in 325 AD)! The following is from off the top of my head, so I didn't include specifics (books, some dates, etc..). If someone wishes to know these and can't find them by googling them, I'll find them, and relay them). The books that were canonized, and recognized as holy writ, and that later became the Bible, were decided there. Prior to this council there were numerous 'books' (usually in the form of a scroll) that were primarily found separately, or in very small collections of 2 to 5 books during the time of the apostles, and early Christianity. No, the early Christian's for the up to the early 3rd century, and in most cases, beyond (the Gutenberg press wasn't invented for another 1100 years, and books were very few, and expensuve) DID NOT HAVE our modern day bibles to read or quote from. Some of the books extant at the time of the Council of Nicea were not included in the canon that became the bible. What books were to be considered inspired and holy, and therefore canonized, was hotly debated, at least until after the council, and likely for centuries later, as protestants and Roman Catholics to this day disagree on whether the Apocrypha or pseudopithriga should be accepted as part of the bible). Furthermore historians believe that 1st and 2nd John was written after Revelation. It is found last in the bible, because it was chosen to be last because of it's subject matter; the future, or the last days. Therefore, it's rather silly to believe that John The Revelator was referring to any book aside from that which he was currently writing, the book of Revelation. This is especially true for Roman Catholics, as the Roman Catholic Church held that the pope could receive revelation for the church and the world, that could then be considered as scripture, until the council of Trent, in the early 19th century. There's also the problem that the apostles received revelation after Jesus had risen from the dead, and ascended to heaven (some argue that revelation ceased with Jesus's ascension to heaven, therefore there could be no more scripture). There's also a number of scriptures in the Old Testament that predict that revelation would be poured out on those in the last days. Then There's also the problem that Moses states essentially the same thing, referring to Deuteronomy. If not, and someone believes Moses is referring to the bible, then we would need to tear out and ignore all the books of the bible from Deuteronomy on. I don't think any true Christian would want to do that! Yet another problem for considering the Bible as complete, containing all of holy writ, is the fact that more than a handful of books of prophecy are mentioned in the bible, that are nowhere to be found in the bible. Hopefully, anyone who knows the history of Christianity and the bible, will realize it's foolish to say that the bible says, anywhere, that revelation, or scripture would cease, and that the bible as we have it contains all of God's revelations and scripture, for, and to mankind. The very same John, John the Revelator, said about Jesus's doings and sayings: John 21:25 New Century Version (NCV) If every one of them were written down, I suppose the whole world would not be big enough for all the books that would be written.

@nothingbutthetruth613 Says:
This idea that Jesus looked at the Pharisees and said they were sticking to their traditions at the expense of the original biblical laws is absurd and completely made up. Show me one tradition practiced among Jews today or even back then that contradicted the bible. Traditions are solely in order to enhance the already practiced laws in the bible. It's never a separate thing. This story was just used as a way to disparage the Pharisee and this is one of the ways they concocted in order to do this. It is nonsensical and ridiculous. The irony of all this is that he is talking about adding things that the bible doesn't say but the nt almost exclusively does this. The bible says there is one God, not a trinity. The bible says nothing about a second coming. The bible says you can't die for someone else's sins. The bible says we could overcome sin by ourselves. This is all completely changed in the nt going directly against this commandment not to add or subtract anything
@LoCoWi Says:
The prophetess of the Seventh Day Adventist chur.......um... organisation Ellen G White, wrote in one of her books, The Desire of Ages, that Jesus had older brothers. In their attempt to justify this non-biblical erronous teaching, they assume that these older brothers were in fact step brothers by Joseph's previous wife/marriage. Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. It's blatant addition at it's finest.
@robertajaycart3491 Says:
Per the Bonus Question: I mean, even Scripture alone has proven to be a great way to teach whatever you want (Justifying Slavery in the South for an example.) This is why Peter warned of people twisting scripture to their own destruction (2 Peter 3:215-17). To prove it is more than just a nebulous of believers, you can use Scripture itself: They would have to show that no where in Scripture does it describe the church as anything more than a body of believers. We on the other hand can cite numerous passages that show Christ instituted his Church to be both visible and invisible, to very much have a government resembling the government Moses built, with offices that were passed on: Paul refers to all who glory in the cross of Jesus to be “the Israel of God.” (Galatians 6:11-18). Elsewhere the Church is called “the New Jerusalem” (Hebrews 12:18-24, Revelation 21:9-10) So far that would be a body of believers, the Church. How then does Scripture describe both the Israel of the OId Testament, the Israel of God- the church? Israel is described in Scriptures as a an "ekklesia" (Deuteronomy 31:28–30- greek septuagint "church/ assembly), the same word used for Church in the New Testament. (Matt 16:18) Both are also called God’s Bride/ Jesus’ Bride (Jer 2:2, Ephesians 5:25-32,Rev 21:9-10) a House, (Ex 40:37-38, Eph 2:19-22, 1 Tim 3:15) A Holy Nation (Ex 19:5-6, 1 Peter 2:9-10) and a Kingdom (1 Sam 24:20, Luke 22:28-30) And just as Israel described as all these had a government, Christ's Church is described in Scripture as his Bride, the house of God, holy nation, a kingdom, and a government: Isaiah 9:6,7 "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the GOVERNMENT will be upon his shoulder...Of THE INCREASE OF HIS GOVERNMENT and of peace THERE WILL BE NO END, upon the throne of David, and over his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and for evermore. " And as with the government of Israel, there was a hierarchy to rule and judge over the people, one which Jesus modeled his Church after: - Moses installed 12 leaders of Israel// Jesus installed 12 apostles with his authority. - Moses installed 70 presbyters// Jesus commissioned 70 presbyters (Luke 10) with his authority to preach and minister. - Moses installed a hierarchy of government to rule and judge the people (Ex 18:13-26), appointing judges in every town (Deut 16:18-19)// Jesus appointed his apostles to sit on thrones Judging the twelve tribes of Israel (Lk 22:29-30) l, and appoint elders in every town (Titus 1:5-7). - Moses instructed the people to consult the judge (Deut 17:8-10)// Jesus instructs to take matters to the church (Matt 18:17, cf Acts 15:1-22) - The judgements of the hierarchy were proclaimed to be the judgements of God (Deut 1:16-18) // Jesus gave his church the power to bind and loose in heaven what it binds on earth (Matt 18:18) , and the judgment made by the council in Acts 15 seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to them (vs. 28) The authority to govern did not end with the first generation of Israel (Moses’ generation), nor these Laws being written down in Scripture. Their offices were passed on throughout the generations. So too were the offices of the Church’s government, as we see in Acts 1, when Peter proclaims that Judas’ “office” of apostle (Greek “episcope”- overseer,” BISHOPrick” v. 20) be succeeded by another. “Episcope” is the greek word used in Scripture for “Bishop,”described Paul as “an office” (1 Timothy 3:1), which the Apostles appointed through the laying on of hands, as Moses did with Joshua, and instructed Timothy and Titus (also Bishops) to do the same but not hastily (1 Tim 5:22), calling the Bishop “the Steward of God” (Titus 1:7). Paul even instructs Timothy to only entrust what he learned from him to other faithful men to do so with others also. (2 Tim 2:1-3). What Timothy learned from Paul included teaching to not be hasty in laying on hands with just anyone, but those who were above reproach to meet the qualifications to become a Bishop (1 Tim 3:1-7), and to teach them also to entrust what they learned to faithful men to then teach others to do so. This is the pattern of Apostolic Succession, modeled after the government of Israel, but heightened to a visible and spiritual level, guided to all truth by the Spirit as Christ prayed for all who followed the Apostles to be one (John 16:12-13, 17:20-23), so that the members of his body aren’t tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine crafted by cunning men who don’t have the authority (Eph 4:8, 11-14) Lastly, we see an early church writing from the 1st century speak of Apostolic Succession by Clement, who all early church fathers and historians unanimously knew was the same Clement Paul spoke of in Phil 4:3, who’s name Paul says is “in the book of life.” Clement wrote in his letter to the Corinthians: “Through countryside and city [the apostles] preached, and they appointed their earliest converts, testing them by the Spirit, to be the bishops and deacons of future believers. Nor was this a novelty, for bishops and deacons had been written about a long time earlier. . . . Our apostles knew through our Lord Jesus Christ that there would be strife for the office of bishop. For this reason, therefore, having received perfect foreknowledge, they appointed those who have already been mentioned and afterwards added the further provision that, if they should die, other approved men should succeed to their ministry” (Letter to the Corinthians 42:4–5, 44:1–3 [A.D. 80]). So throughout Scripture and the extrabiblical 1st century writing of a companion of Paul’s mentioned in Scripture and in the book of Life, the Church has both spiritual and visible properties, resembling the governing hierarchy of the Old Testament Israel Moses installed, with successors to carry on and lead the church to the truth of Christ, So it would seem that in order to disqualify the church as being ANYTHING more than just the body of believers, we would need some sort of decree in Scripture or by a Church Council declaring that the government of the Church shall no longer reside in the successors of the Apostles, but only in Scripture. It simply HAS to be relinquished by the existing authority in order to be true, or else the men who reject the authority in favor of another (Sola Scriptura) are following after the examples of Korah, Kohath, Abiram, and On in attempting to taking authority from those who God gave His authority to. And as Scripture shows, it ended in disaster for them (Num 16:1-3, 31-33)
