I love where I'm from and want to see it persist and succeed....but I'm among what might be the last generation that kinda sneaked through and was able to get "established"....but just barely....so maybe that means "where I'm from" doesn't actually exist anymore.
I look at young people and find it terribly tragic how so few of them seem to appreciate their good fortune (historically speaking) to have been born when and where they were.....but in truth I have to admit it's a bit much to expect anyone to love or defend a system that is fundamentally not working for them.

I listen to Tom almost daily these days. And whatifaltrudyard for years anytime he puts out some new content.
@thememphisguitarspa3413 Says:
It’s a great conversation, and of course we all enjoy data driven historical analysis. But this guy is the perfect example of why you need to listen to many theories and then use critical thinking. One thing completely absent from this conversation, which amazes me, is the historical parallels with the four revolutions he names and the imbalance of power and economics that contributed immensely to every one. And that happens when you have one percent of the population controlling and owning everything, and the elites - every time - will NOT compromise, and that is especially what caused the French, Russian and largely Roman revolutions and failure. There is no great civilization that has lasted longer than 250 before it falls apart from greed, corruption, bankruptcy and elitism. So he makes some fantastic points, but if that happens here or in other western countries, it’s not gonna be left versus right. It’s gonna be the 99% against the 1%. And the 1% owns the governments.
@nyrangers3150 Says:
This guys an idiot. There is no civil war coming. There isn't even a world War coming

@YourMommasMeatCurtains Says:
"as the left leaning people take power morality and religion ....goes away and it's replaced with kindness." That's part of the left's big lie. They use the word kindness while they otherize and dehumanzie you with their hate filled labels, and that's while these Nazis aren't openly standing to silence you, doxx you and destroy your life. That's not debatable, that did happen over the last 30 years, if you're denying it, you're the Nazi that said, "I didn't know"
@YourMommasMeatCurtains Says:
It's a poor characterization to say the sides are "the college educated vs the uneducated," Democrats are not educated. Going to college hasn't been synonymous with getting an education in 50 years, regardless of your PERCEPTION. Not going to college is also not synonymous with being uneducated. And going to college is CLEARLY also not synonymous with intellect. These are all logical fallacies central to the inbred left's ideology. I think his characterization is indicative of the left's malignant superiorty complex which is one of the primary causes of our divide and it also points to one of the primary sources of the problem - colleges.

@TheGenericavatar Says:
I doubt that is any mechanism that deliberately protects the ecosystem.
Rather, human instincts and psychology requires certain levels of various stresses to function normally because that's what we evolved to function normally with. Remove or reduce those stressors, and our bodies and minds are trying to react to stresses that aren't there or exist at far reduced levels. You can see that in how the human immune system works. Too clean an environment and we start developing allergies, even to our own bodies or biochemistries (auto-immune diseases, food allergies). People who grow up in rural areas with lots of dust and pollen have far fewer allergy issues.

@J_Nez Says:
Dude, you’ve never heard a leftist talking deindustrialization??? You’re crazy!!
Also you make way too many generalizations about the left. I think you forgot to realize that the economic left concerned primarily about the lower classes of all colors, is NOT the cultural left. Stop combining them. And nobody on the actual left likes the Democratic OR Republican establishment politicians. You have a lot to learn little guy.

9:10 wars always teaches us the hardest lessons an entire society has to learn after lost, because of the failures of powerful dumb people. Where ppl hv to take on the burden which gives them more power as a collective. When realized what or who was the cause of the war they get rid of or potentially murder the cause. This either creates a new society and ideology against wat caused the war or a new country and economic system

@Rachels123 Says:
Aristotle thought there was a way to go forward without a civil war. When the oligarchs take control of your government the way out seems impossible. Aristotle felt the middle class can use the same laws as the oligarchs to frame business among the average people side stepping big business. In other words, the middle class must come together in a grass roots fashion.

I respect Tom's proclivity to debate the logic of his guests, but I don't think I've ever seen him end a conversation in a different place than where he started. Dude just seems to not believe anyone he talks to. It's kinda always just "hm, yeah, but what if not though?"
