My amazing and talented wife Lisa is releasing her new book Radical Confidence, which you can preorder - and get the bonuses she's created for you - at https://www.radicalconfidence.com. When you read this book, Lisa will teach you 10 No-BS Life Lessons to become the hero of your own life and take MASSIVE bold action to achieve your potential! "The best way to predict the future is to invent it." - Alan Kay In today's era of ever-accelerating change, it might seem impossible to predict the future with any degree of accuracy. Likewise, it might be easy to assume that the only way to do so is through sophisticated AI algorithms and data science. Incredibly, Jane McGonigal and her colleagues at Institute for the Future have been able to predict several of today's most disruptive trends as much as ten years in advance. Through her innovative use of alternate reality games, hyper-specific journaling techniques, and something called 'future backcasting', Jane continues to not only lay out seemingly impossible future scenarios, but also help prepare people to be proactive in building the future they want to see. If you like what you see in today's episode, then I highly encourage you to check out Jane's latest book, Imaginable: How to See the Future Coming and Feel Ready for Anything?Even Things That Seem Impossible Today Order your copy by clicking here: https://amzn.to/3JwImO2 SHOW NOTES: 00:00 | Introduction 01:40 | A New Approach to Futurism 13:23 | The Psychology of Predicting the Future 22:50 | Rehearsing Catastrophes 32:56 | How to Practice for the Future 38:18 | Crypto, Government, and Privacy 48:31 | Future Backcasting 53:54 | The Future of Web3 Gaming QUOTES: 'The brain normally assumes things will continue as they are. But what that means is it can be very hard to wake up and realize this thing that used to be true is no longer true, or this assumption I had is no longer helpful.' [09:54] 'We do try to have this balance of positive and shadow imagination, because really, any future is going to have complications, but also perhaps unexpected benefits where people use it as an opportunity to create positive change.' [15:31] 'To start your process of having to adapt or deal with a crisis or disruption from a state of confidence and clarity, rather than anxiety, confusion, feeling helpless - it really changes the way that you emotionally experience things that can create a lot of suffering.' [26:53] 'Try to backcast all the way to as far as what could you do in the next 24 hours to make this future more likely. Just force yourself to roll up your sleeves and do something to start trying to have an impact on this future.' This woman breaks stereotypes. Absolutely amazing thought leader. She is manufacturing a future today. Future generations will ride the wave she and her tribes generate. I have become her fan, truly. Watch her body language. She is laid back, but talks about earth-shaking stuff with great conviction. She is detached from her ideas as if looking at them objectively. yet is personally experiencing real-time.. watch her feminine energy

Wait a minute... Was the pandemic literally created out of this thought experiment? It took just 20000 (how many exactly?) people's imagination to create this future.

One of the most underrated experts on the world. Her approach to games and life gamification is so helpful... Especially for Millenials and Gen Z... I hope her highest peak of fame is still in her... future ;)

Wow. She's much more normie and ignorant than I remember. In the first 10 mins almost everything she said was false or contradictory. Sad day.

She’s literally talking about the Law of Attraction. We could use the same principles to build a more idealistic reality. Collectively imagining utopia may be a better use of our time.
@menty-22 Says:
Just make sure to not give people who choose evil, ideas.

Tom Bilyeu. I have you as a very wise and educated man and I'm not sure how to think about this book and interview. We create the "future" with our thoughts, with our mind "imagining". And this woman makes groups of "studies" where they say they "predict" terrible scenarios for the world, are you realizing that they are creating that? Imagine groups of 500 humans thinking on the same horrible scenario. And you are giving them more power exposing all the people that follow you on your channel (like 44 k views) to all the propaganda, controling and horrible scenarios she is using as an example here, unconsciously everyone is contributing to create that disgusting reality. We don't predict, WE CREATE.

I think man kind has a chance. If we can leave the planet and populate the universe, a major change in our thinking must happen. We can not have a world where populations must grow at all We must change our consumption and discard. We need things to last and be repaired. We need to share instead of constantly replacing. If we can make big change we may make it. One other thing. We need to understand that right and wrong are at least mostly a matter of prospective. We are right, and the other guy is wrong

Using a monarch butterfly as a symbol? Too late, already taken, but my guess is this lady is aware of that.

It's called predictive programming, desensitization, etc. You see it in movies.

Mind blowing conversation - thank you Tom!
@cherylblanc7058 Says:
When you speak of ageless voting, teachers of children have the biggest influence on their minds, like pushing agendas. They have the children 7 hours a day 5 days a week. Who are teaching the teachers? Children are easily persuaded. You see this in taking God out of the schools. This will lead an all government controlled socialism. I don’t think the future of man kind should be left in the hands of the the youth that have no real understanding of our historical past or current events. Can a child comprehend or understand WAR and all its ugliness. ( Ooooh a red button. ) I love children and they have a place in the future, but not voting. Let’s start on educational toys and such.

That interview was eye opening. If you love meditation, quantum physics and visualization, you are already practicing these techniques. Jane explains how people can help themselves navigate change without being terrified of it. Kept my attention and opened my eyes to the roles we all have in creating the future. It empowers people away from victimhood. Great job. Everything happens for us, not to us. Unless we’re just existing.

Hey I have to say I love the Tom Bilyeu franchise. I consume it in all if it's many forms. I almost died from AGS. It causes many, many other problems other than mammalian meat intolerance/allergy. My heart sank when I heard you guys describing an AGS pandemic scenario. It sank even further when the guest eluded to the fact that when postulating future scenarios the people really " liked" the alpha gal scenario. Alpha gal syndrome is not "what mask to wear at the cookout" alpha gal is " my liver is so inflamed it does not matter if it's mammalian meat or not, ALL nutrient dense foods caused an anaphylaxis type reaction, complete with hives and airway restriction. " alpha gal is being so anemic you have to eat red meat because the allergic reaction is unpleasant and at some times life threatening, but when you are definitely going to die if you don't eat something, you get to eating. All told imagining a pandemic from an unknown or novel organism is very different from imagining a pandemic predicated on an illness people are already suffering from and in my opinion is in bad taste. Also did everyone forget that inward thoughts generate outward reality and contemplating nightmare scenarios might not be the best use of our time? Just saying. As always I'm coming from a place of gratitude beset with humility. Love you and your team, Will Lyons. Wor

They are manifesting the wrong outcomes for humans by creating this videos or ideas.The mind is powerful. We should create videos that are more about helping humans develop their brains in positive way.

@JakeInvest Says:
Young people can be manipulated, min voting age is a terrible idea. I think if anything we should increase voting age haha, but definitely not lower it
@JakeInvest Says:
Pandemic taking away our freedoms and anything to take them away is what we all think about for in the future, and we will prevent it any way possible
@HitenPatel Says:
Woah, that was a bit of an eye opener.
@peacheeesss Says:
She must be stopped. She is literally pushing Agenda 2030. We must work against these psychos.
@peacheeesss Says:
"just because we have privacy for 100s of years ... the world may go another way ... it doesn't have to be that way." Think about what she is saying.
@peacheeesss Says:
"cool to have 23 and me to have law enforcement search suspect family DNA." Think about what she is saying.
@peacheeesss Says:
"cool to have expiring currency" Think about what she is saying.
@peacheeesss Says:
She wants us to accept the "you will own nothing and be happy." Very sick. WEC plant. Fight these bastards!
@alliegee24 Says:
If you're relieved that the government can track DNA to find criminals. Just wait until this country goes full communist. Then you look or say anything wrong and the big ones in power will track you down. I don't want to be right, but this is what they're trying to achieve. Total power.
