It's actually a powerful means to gain control.' [3:00] 'You're worrying less about what else you might be thinking about, and you're allowing your executive control network to more strongly connect with your body. So, it's a state of highly focused attention…' [8:11] 'You may not be able to control what's making you anxious, but you can control how your body's feeling, you can control how your body is reacting to the stressor.' [18:11] 'We don't see medication as necessarily being bad in the same way that we have with hypnosis [...] but it's still around because there's something powerful and helpful about.' [22:51] 'Being open and accepting [and] concentrating very intently is a good learning strategy.' [26:44] 'Providing intense emotional support can help people help their bodies cope with even a very serious illness.' How is it that in daily life I can imagine a fictitious event or situation and get a negative feeling from it, yet when I try hypnosis I struggle to produce any result. It's so weird.

People often talks about meditation benefits changing the brain. Is hypnosis doing the same or is it more a "in the moment" benefit?

24:23 Bombarded everyday and constantly by advertisements on TV, radio, billboards and other media.
@James-lj7rm Says:
20:39 Does Svengali come to mind? Do movies that portray hypnosis as evil, play a part in the negative notions? Stage hypnosis hasn't helped. Stage hypnosis is just for entertainment but, people can't understand that. They don't want to see themselves dancing and clucking like a chicken under mind control. Which is the idea of people who are not educated about hypnosis

@TheRealGreg Says:
I've been using sleep hypnosis for about 2 months now to help my anxiety and ruminating thoughts from an abusive narcissistic ex wife. It has been a miracle for me. I have really been taking my life back. (We have a daughter together so I still must interact with her) She knows how to push my buttons and be manipulative. I have finally found a way to be indifferent and remain calm. Hypnosis is really all about changing your subconscious programming and deleting old programs with new ones.
