My amazing and talented wife Lisa released her new book Radical Confidence, which you can order - and get the bonuses she's created for you - at https://www.radicalconfidence.com. When you read this book, Lisa will teach you 10 No-BS Life Lessons to become the hero of your own life and take MASSIVE bold action to achieve your potential! Are you feeling you are lacking motivation or are unsure how to achieve your goals? Then head on over to https://unstuck.impacttheory.com. There you can register and get access to a free workshop. So it's safe to assume that you are likely having a biological experience. The external expectations involuntarily placed on you amount to pressure and loss of self-identity, values and beliefs. On the other hand, the internal expectations you willingly place on yourself can put you into a state of anxiety with doubts, disappointment and indecisiveness. So take a step back from yourself for a moment and consider the number of decisions you passively make everyday while living a less than fulfilling life. If you're not happy with where you are, how you live, what you do, the money you make (or don't make) and the success you wish for but never have, it comes down to indecisiveness and lack of action. Mel Robbins is an American attorney, best selling author, motivational speaker, and straight shooter. She's introduced two of the simplest tools anyone can use starting right now to go from autopilot to decision maker moving towards your dreams. 'I hope you have a massive a-ha moment, but it's not going to mean shit if you don't take action and do something about it.' This is Mel's wish for you today. You can trick your brain to do what's important and beat the habit loops that keep sabotaging you everyday. It's time for you to stop fighting for your excuses. Stop arguing against the dreams you want and wish for, and start making the decisions for better results day by day, hour by hour, and second, by second. It's as easy as counting down, 5-4-3-2-1, and go! Trick your brain to do what's important and beat the habit loops that sabotage you everyday Change yourself and gain the ability to start dealing with the problems you're experiencing SHOW NOTES: 0:00 | Introduction to Mel Robbins 0:14 | Use This Rule Everyday 13:16 | Stop Living on Autopilot 25:00 | Confidence Is A Skill, Anxiety Is A Habit 32:18 | Don't Waste Your Life 48:06 | Master Your Body & Mind 58:47 | Take Control By Doing This 1:12:37 | Build Desire & Get Inspired QUOTES: 'You can truly trace every single problem or complaint in your life to silence and hesitation. Those are decisions.' [1:33] 'If you're stuck that's the problem. The problem is you're in your head, you're thinking. That is the universal problem, and it all starts with the knowledge of what to do and then you hesitate and you think about whether or not you feel like doing it.' [10:29] 'You have about a five second window in which you can move from idea to action before your brain kicks into full gear and sabotages any change in behavior.' [15:07] 'Confidence is the ability to move from thought to action because when you're a confident person you believe enough in yourself and capabilities that you're willing to try.' [26:08] 'People are making a fundamental mistake. You are withholding the very support, empowerment, and celebration that you need to change, and to do the hard work, and to face the things that you're scared of, and that's why you're not changing.' [33:07] 'The thing about jealousy is that it's just your inspiration that's blocked. Jealousy is sort of the insecurity that you have that blocks this inspiration.' [46:58] 'Most folks know what they dream about and what they want, and yet they spend all of their time and energy arguing against what they want.' If we plug in a speaker to our mind - we would all be in an insane asylum. But worse, we listen to those insane thoughts (at 31.50). We have the power to stop it if we do the work

I am just now finding her while binging several of your videos this morning in Dallas!!! I have already shared this to multiple people in my life and I haven’t even finished it!! Lol Stay tuned for my own 5 second rule life application and results! What’s funny is that I am in this specific place in my life. I forced myself to go to the gym this morning with chronic pain flare-up in full swing, because I knew I needed to. I didn’t want to with everything within me, but I knew I had to force myself to get my shoes on and go. So after watching this, up until 53:48 btw, I just had to comment. This is confirmation to me that I am rightly moving forward on this current path of mine. Thank you, both. You fucking rock! 😎🤘🏻🎸

This is a great rule, but there may be some people this doesn't completely work for. There's a method I use called 1) feeding your demons 2) the corridor which overcomes the last remnants of subconscious resistance - and you don't have to know the cause of the inner conflict for them to work. To optimise the 5 second rule that Mel talks about, as soon as you finished the countdown move a body part - any body part as that will tip you in favour of just moving if the 5 second countdown is not enough. Hope that helps
@lodiwish Says:
I've been doing the countdown 54321...and it has been a great tool. Thanks.

Thanks Tom and Mel. Similar to the hi-5 trick, I've always fist-pump in front of the mirror, like a bro gesture, and it really works!
@mazihenry8530 Says:
Not only do we not feel worthy, or that it is unfair, but also in many cases we are not even aware there is an alternative way of being.

Cannot believe this video doesn't have more views. i'm going to watch it tomorrow if i don't wake up wanting to be better.
@simpleton2090 Says:
What’s weird is that emotions are not material. They are literally just thoughts that stimulate physical reaction within you. A physical reaction you can control.
@GregoryAustin32 Says:
Great interview! Thanks Tom and Mel for this great advice. I listened to it during my morning ride. The 5-second rule works, but I have to really mean it to get moving. I'm a big fan of the mirror high-five!

I remember going on my first holiday after being chronically sick for a couple years. The flight sent me into a state of debilitating pain needing assistance at airport and spending 2 days in bed there. The next year going on holiday I thought i cant go through this again so i started learning and watched mels videos on anchor thought. I was sitting on the plane and kept going to my achor thought over and over again and before i knew it we arrived. Prior to returning home i sat at the beach at did my anchor thought. Amazing how one video made such a massive difference to me

Thank you again Tom! I was using a similar technique, instead I’d say ‘just do it, 3, 2, 1, go’. I am applying this 5sec to my everyday life.
