Yours is one of my most favorite channels . Great content, well paced and fun. Please don’t cater to the Tik Tok generation and start shortening your videos. I’ve unsubscribed from 3 channels that went from 25-40 min videos to 4-9 mins and they’re terrible. Sell out a bit a do product reviews. Partnership with another channel? Add a hint of Benny Hill. Your Linux info has been a huge help as I attempt to integrate Linux into my skillset. Keep calm and carry on. Thanks for the videos

The USB 3.0 PCI-E video was super helpful, because I had downgraded an old ATX motherboard to an older Mini-ATX motherboard on my I7-330 CPU, and didn't notice it didn't have any USB 3.0 ports. Though, I am looking to build a future office PC that does not need to play video games (like it will mostly be in Office 365 products like Excel). Will you do a video about building an office type PC or have any recommendations? Thank you kindly
@KevinBenecke Says:
The other thing is the fact that with the pandemic ending, we have more people out and about as well as going back to work which means not as many people watching videos.
@burgermeister7244 Says:
Chris, Good for you for sticking to your principles and not accepting sponsorship or using mid roll adverts. It's NOT ALL ABOUT MONEY. It's about enjoying the content you make, and knowing that viewers enjoy the content as well. God bless you, man. Keep it up! Joe

A video about cloning a drive would be very handy ..I always struggle with that

I really look forward to your videos. I've done a bunch of Pi projects from them. The latest is a Pi 4 RPOS OMV 6 server to replace the Pi3 Raspian OMV 4 device from years ago. My favorite subjects are: SBCs of all flavors Pi builds, like the NAS and such Programming with the Pi and python. Would like to see more content on... Using something like the VIM or RockPi for small projects around the house or shop. Home automation for non google / alexa connected use. Using Ubuntu Studio to do things like you do for media production. Thanks and please, keep up the great work. I've learned a lot from you.

One thing that I find myself doing is having to search youtube for "explaining computers" just to see your content. I believe this is because your videos don't run ads, and youtube has no incentive to put them in front of people. So I've missed out on your content for about the past half a year due to this alone. But I think I speak for everyone who is a fan of your work when I say this, you are unforgettable chris, and I really hope that your way of making content changes hearts and minds about how we all create and consume content on youtube.
@nosville22 Says:
Medieval history channels report reduced views as well and it seems it's youtube reducing recommendations even despite the bell being rung, some decided streaming is a good way to apease youtube algorithm.
@firehandszarb Says:
I think a lot of people really appreciate your videos, very informative and your 1980's open university aesthetic is quite entertaining which aides in learning. Youtube has a nasty habit from unsubcribing users from things too which can't help (many times I have had to go and reclick the subscibe and notification buttons for a lot of channels). I for one am really looking forward to your new videos, I really hope they appear in my recommended list too, but if not I will regularly do a search.
@jasethorp2661 Says:
pi pi pi lovely😀
@joegee2815 Says:
It's probably the algorithm. I don't like to miss any of your videos but for some reason YT stopped recommending. If I think about it, I'll seek out your weekly videos but often don't.
@tanevw Says:
You could also create a Patreon. It probably brings in more than yt membership

Love your channel, I only watch SBC videos. Making them snappier would be nice
@arthurmint Says:
Just want to say I love your videos, they're honestly so informative and helpful. The problem is, for a while I had to stop using YouTube during an exam period, but this month when I came back to YouTube you were no longer being recommended to me on YouTube home page :( Ir's 100% the algorithm because the same has been happening for tonnes of my other favourite creatures. I wish you luck with your strategy and have turned notifications on so I don't miss another video :)
@acmaras Says:
I personally think you have one of the best channels on all of YouTube. I like your style and have learned a lot from you. Please don't shorten your videos. I have noticed you haven't been popping up in my suggested videos lately. Thanks for everything you do and for the knowledge you've shared. Greetings from the Chicago area.
@ChrisBohling Says:
Thanks!
@MILGEO Says:
I foolishly clicked on and watched this video thinking that it had to do with PCI channels and possibly a change of some kind related to that. I haven't built any new PC's recently but remain interested as the PC world evolves. I'm in the US and pop by once in a while.I generally use windows, Intel machines,
@dnoodspodu1159 Says:
Do not change your style, please. I subscribed to you precisely because of it; and on the bass of your academic experience and age perspective. Aside from you I only watched Linus Tech Tips, which is of course [at least now] a totally different style and scale and to some degree content. You are older than me, Linus is younger than me. Such two pretty much totally different channels and hosts make a good mix. I do not feel a need to look for a third one, nor would I have time to watch it
@savvysymbiont Says:
Youtube stopped feeding me your channel uploads a while ago. Had to do a serach to find you this time.
@petewasher9426 Says:
As someone who works in electronics but also picks up sbcs as a hobby, the challenge for me is the latest boards are jumping way out of spare beer money or impulse purchase territory, and into something you have to have a real need for. This is disengaging, and could be driving some people/traffic away from your videos. Perhaps some sessions on getting something useful/interesting from the world of esp32 chips and dev boards, or more on industrial type protocols would still be of interest to your channel?
@jeffbarnard3050 Says:
Chris, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! But I do not think you are thinking this through right. You need to start Explaining Computers School of Technology. Create a course, calculate the cost of the equipment needed to like do automation projects. People join ($) for the topic they get a syllabus; they buy the merchandise from Amazon (A store that you configure and get some money from). I can tell you exactly what to do and you will make a very comfortable living and if you listen carefully, it will be easy. If you want to know more message back.
@velochic Says:
Thanks!
@Jfteksp1 Says:
I personally love your content, and find it useful as well as entertaining. I can't afford to support the channel more then I do by watching and such, but I hope you keep going and if things get better here and I can help I most defiantly will. Please keep up the good work.
@stephenpearce3880 Says:
What do you use for your 3d graphics, studio setup. How about picoW projects, maybe remote sensors using picoW's networked back to a Pi for data collection? E.g weather station v2, or hpusehold energy consumption, or house alarm
@tomahawk1705b Says:
It's a great channel with lots of interesting content. Perhaps you should get into smartphone and tablet repairs, evaluations or screen/ mainboard and battery replacements.
@BTech2077 Says:
I think that in the last few months people are not spending so much time watching videos, as the COVID numbers are coming down and people are using this time to spend time outside with friends and family. Hope you keep up the good work! Btw Amazon store front is a very good idea.
@ThePeteW Says:
I agree mid-roll ads are annoying. But the ones that are placed at a suitable break in the video are much more tolerable than the ones that (I guess) the content creator has allowed YT to shove in whenever it likes. They really are annoying as an ad appears mid-sentence completely ruining any flow.
@MayankJairaj Says:
For me it is actually the parts shortage, in my country, everything is out of stock, the original raspberry pi distributors are scalping and the ones selling go out of stock in seconds. I do hope this will end quickly. Also really appreciate the ChromeOs flex video. refurbing old products sounds like a good topic idea to me
@geoffhalsey2184 Says:
A suggestion for a future video(s). The phenomenon of the Homelab where tech enthusiasts buy used enterprise servers and other professional devices to use and run at home. Reddit has half a million people subscribed to Homelab and over 100k to Homeserver. Many seem to have gone way past practicality and evolved their rack servers into an art form. I a bit of departure from the world of the SBC, but perhaps one that will attract new viewers to your channel.
@gietie96 Says:
Hi Chris, been watching you for about a decade now and I run a Youtube channel myself. Here are some things I'd like to share: Videos now appear to get views primarily from YouTube recommending it rather than via the classic subscription system. This means that you have to make those impressions count. Other YouTubers are heavily optimizing the first 30-60 seconds to 'hook' the viewer in (which is needed more than with people who are subscribed and know what they'll be getting). This is why you now see videos with the first 30 seconds are action packed and get right to the point (sometimes even with semi-subtitles to hook people who "hover-view" - when you mouse over a video and it starts plays in the mini-frame without audio). Big channels like LinusTechTips are also experimenting with dropping their animated intro's as it drops user retention during that crucial period. It really seems that getting the viewer retention is key in the new system. I'd wager that unfortunately for you, the algorithm doesn't like your style of video, as for many of your videos the action only starts after 1 minute. Another thing channels are doing is changing the video thumbnails and titles if they see the video is not performing well, some even have 2-3 different thumbnails made in advance (Look up "Clickbait is Unreasonably Effective by Veritasium). What I'd also like to add is the choice of video topics where I'd say two things work really well for views: - Timely topics, like you're already doing very well with the new OS and SBC releases. Get on the brief wave of traffic as quick as possible. - Topics that pique interest/your imagination. I think the best example of this is one of your most popular videos - the $1 computer (How could you possible get a computer for $1 ?!) The last thing about piquing interest is also important for video titles; I'd say in some cases it would help to make your titles not so overly descriptive and more playful. I think a great video title you had was: Windows 11: The Good, The Bad & The Ugly. This speaks to the imagination and is way more playful than "The Pros and Cons" for example. This all is of course very much up to you with on the one hand: how much you value your current "authentic" video style versus the possibility of increasing traffic by changing it up

MID 2022 UPDATE Thank you for the updates. Sorry for the tardy note but I had to have a think about how to proceed after the update. CONTENT and ADS I have been spoiled by watching American television. I like short videos without adverts; 10 to 12 minute videos, with a maximum video length of 15 minutes. I also hate sponsor integration since the scripts are so bad. MEMBERSHIP Sorry, no. SUPPORT Thank you for the storefront. Some items would be hard to get otherwise. I do like having an educator explaining something he knows about. If I visit a video more than once I found it useful so I try to give extra acknowledgement.

Loved the Raspberry Pi content and the explanation of M.2 SSDs. In fact I priced out a Raspberry Pi with an Argon One M.2 case and an SSD and realized that I was getting close to the price of a low end Mac Mini. So, ironically covering a "low-end Mac Mini M1" as a "high end ARM SBC with case and SSD" would make sense. As a PC/Raspberry Pi user I how available are Docker images for Mac M1 computers? Do AMD64 images work on Apple M1 with Rosetta? For example, I am interested in Apache Superset, but it is not supported on Windows/WSL, so would it run on Apple M1 or would I be in the awkward position of buying the last of the Intel based Mac Minis or Macbook Pros? Also would be interested in benchmarks comparing "high end ARM and RISC-V SBCs" with Mac Mini. And not just benchmarks, but system (Linux and Docker / Docker images) and end user/creator (languages, IDEs and video editing) software availability.

After 2 years of lockdowns, I am desperate to spend more time outside, and have watched far less on YT than during 2020-2021. I'm sure I can't be alone in this. And now it's summer.
@BruceHoult Says:
Clearly you need to do more RISC-V content! The RK3588 ARM boards look very interesting (though in short supply still). Both SiFive's uncoming (not yet announced or named) board using INtel's "Horse Creek" platform (which has SiFive P550 cores) and a board StarFive have been giving hints about using their "Dubhe" core (which I strongly suspect is just P550 renamed for official Chinese consumption) should give RK3588 a run for its money. The gap is closing!

Hi Christopher Barnatt, I really appreciate the video contents you have made and its extremely educational. To show my support, I have subscribed to your channel and this is the 1st channel I've paid on Youtube despite I have been a Youtube Premium user for a while now. Please keep up the good work and looking forward to more videos from EC.👍👍
@jozefserf2024 Says:
Your work is excellent, no doubt about that, but how about more videos on real world concerns? For example, stuff like online privacy, routine PC maintenance, Open Source software alternatives to well known brands etc. It's no surprise that gaming focused channels are the most popular, so maybe a little upgrade advice for those so inclined?

I love your channel, but since some time ago, the videos are not showing anymore on my home page of YouTube. Every Sunday morning I saw your videos when I was taking breakfast. But, as I mentioned before, since a few months, I need to look for your channel manually to check your new content. Definitely YouTube changed the algorithm and now I don't receive anymore on my home page content that I like, but news propaganda.
