On Linux Mint Cinnamon 22.1 I see there is no Synaptic Package Manager. How do we lock a new font as you showed without going through this process?

I am a Windows 11 refugee. Today I am running Linux Mint 22.3. The transition was simple and fast. A few days ago Installed this release on a new GMKtec G10 mini pc. It works flawlessly.

About a year after watching this first, I went and installed Linux XFCE on a old laptop that was on Windows 8.1 on which all softwares asking for an update were returning with ''this operating system is no longer supported''.
This will be a great opportunity to get used to Linux, as later if prices go back to normal I plan to build a PC and I don't want to have to deal with Microsoft's BS anymore.

Some things, 1. take your windows drive out and install it on an SSD, 2. every time you learn a useful consol command, add it to a txt file for later use, 3 use time shift as soon as you are up and running

Like many Mint users I started on an earlier version, namely v20 and upgraded to 20.3.
I'd like to upgrade to v22.3 but apparently this is not so easy. The recommendation appears to be to do a full install which means a lot more work to back-up and then restore existing data and re-install previous applications, for example Apache 2 and some of its modules. Bit of a nightmare!
IF there is a way to upgrade from v20 to v22.3, do you think you could produce a video to show how that can be safely performed?

I love Cinnamon Desktop as a replacement for Windows 10 but... BEWRE > 2 x monitors. I've spent months now, trying to get my system to avoid Cinnamon crashing every day (or 2) using Nvidia GTX 1050 first and then an AMD XFX RX 570 to 3 monitors. I have 2 x 25" Dell and 1 x 27" Dell for the 3. The Cinnamon/X11 appears to be the problem - its just not stable for 3 monitors and I have 1 monitor that's not the same model (size + Mhz) as the other 2. Finally created a fresh LMDE7 install found and AMD GPU crashed every day and now trying Nvidia. Found that you can indeed install nvidia drivers via the Software Manager (search nvidia-driver) in LMDE7, and Cinnamon/X11 is almost identical - up over a day now with Nvidia and hoping..... My point - I LOVE Cinnamon (and not going back to windows) but beware > 2 x monitors.

I am a big fan of flatpaks because they install easily, and they don't really interfere with the OS. The one thing I do miss is the vintage White theme, that was such a fresh look. Minty in fact.

What Linux distribution perfectly mimics the all gui functions of the Windows system environment?

Font installation clearly demonstrates this is a dud design. Far too many hoops to jump through. FIX IT!

Ubuntu won't install working snaps. They can not even show up as workable programs. Does MINT have the same issues. I've determined Ubuntu to be backward and requiring at least a six week course to start the user. One has to like or prefer diddling with textual input and have a broad understanding of script. For the year 2026, it tells me that things haven't really changed in 20 plus years of linux distributions. It will NEVER replace Windows, yet a Windows alternative is vital to save this generation.

#1 Kubuntu (strong ubuntu base with a more familiar and beautiful KDE environment)
#2 Linux Lite (strong ubuntu base with a lite and pretty XFCE environment)
#3 deepin (stable debian base with gorgeous dde environment)
#4 mxlinux (stable debian base, you can choose environment)

I've been using Windows OS for 26 years now. I think I'll switch to Linux. With the latest Windows 11 update, my very powerful laptop now first stutters, distorts sounds, and then the D drive disappears. I have to unplug all USB devices and restart to get it back. I guess if Windows doesn't want the D drive, I could give it to Linux, right? Maybe dual boot just to get my feet wet?

Even as someone who doesn't use Mint personally, I think it's a strong contender for the all-around best Linux distribution that's available. It's got a nice, clean UI, it's as easy to use and install programs as Windows is, and is compatible with most all the software one would care about one way or another.

After many years of windows a couple of months ago i suddenly woke up as to how bad windows 11 had become, so spent the last few months trying the various versions of linux until i was left with 2 Zorin and Mint tested both and last week jumped ship and deleted win 11 and went with Mint, 5 days of Mint and im so happy i did, most thing just work epson printer, razer keyboard wireless mouse, happy using thunderbird for my mail and libreoffice. discovering more every day and any problems solutions are out there, Windows is gone for good for me dont need it for anything.

I truly appreciate your video. I've been a Windows User for almost 30 years. I hadn't enjoyed using my computer for a long time because Microsoft has been changing every simple and useful tool, making them less user-friendly. Mint practically makes you feel like you own the computer. It comes with almost every tool you may need, which is perfect for people who are thinking of transitioning. It runs like old Windows systems—especially Windows 7—but it's much more customizable, way faster, and much more efficient and thanks to Valve's Proton I am able to play almost every game with little to no performance loss.

I switched to Linux Mint Cinnamon a few days ago.
I put it on a USB jump drive, popped it in and my life is changed. I love love love Linux.
I ran it for a few days, but after shutting off ny computer and rebooting, Linux is failing to start.
Grok suggested it is because I used Etcher and it fails to copy a necessary file. I cannot boot in Windows because it's asking for the bitloader password. I have no idea what that is and I assume Asus has it.
My fastest easiest solution was to order a new jump drive from Amazon for 18-ish bucks and hoping that will work.
I'm hoping I'm back to using Linux shortly.
I was so unbelievably happy to be surfing. The web, streaming radio, listening to YouTube, and I haven't even got into all the unbelievable customization options (because it won't save on the jump drive, Linux).

mum let me use her old laptop to install Mint, i used this video to help me through install, there were a couple niggles getting there that i needed to get my head around, even with that its not been the frustrating FIGHT you often get with windows, which can be a fight every step of the way. i am typing this from Brave on Linux Mint. OMG this is like windows back in the 3.1 days (But way better looking) when it was simple, powerful(Ok as powerful as it could be on that old tech), stable and easy to use, and the customisation, well a girl could have serious fun, this has convinced me to jump ship on my entertainment PC, maybe its been easy for me because i am coming from Android which has Linux at its kernel, maybe not. either way windows as not been this nice to use in more years then i can count.

Windows telemetry is a good thing. It allows Microsoft to collect the information to fix bugs and glitches for everyone. Also Microsoft cloud security keeps track of what viruses and trojans and malware and spyware and ransomware is being detected so these can be wiped out quick and scanned for first on all computers. Also screen shots helps people find what they did in the past but also allows Microsoft to know what bugs and glitches visually look like on the display when you report it in the feedback hub. This all helps everyone. I LOST THREE WINDOWS 10 LAPTOPS. A LENOVO AND TWO DELL INSPIRON LAPTOPS. Hackers literally ruined the hardware of all three computers. I had to switch to Windows 11.

Moving away from windows has never been more appealing, however I didn’t want to move to linux since the first thing linux videos do is open the terminal. This video showed that many things can be done with the UI, and it definitely lowers the barrier for entry, as I can learn the terminal over time than having to immediately interact with it upon installing linux. Thank you!
