????

Warpinator free utility for making network file transfers between two computers running Linux, Windows, Android or iOS. Video includes installation in different OS, demos, preferences, and tips for dealing with potential setup issues. Warpinator was developed by the Linux Mint team, and has a GitHub page here: https://github.com/linuxmint/warpinator The flatpack page for installing Warpinator in Linux distros where it is not included in the software installer is here: https://flathub.org/apps/details/org.x.Warpinator The Winpinator -- Warpinator for Windows -- website is here: https://winpinator.swisz.cz/ Warpinator can be found in the Google Play store by searching for (wait for it) 'Warpinator'. And there is also a Github Android page here: https://github.com/slowscript/warpinator-android Finally, the Github iOS page is here: https://github.com/williamMillington/warpinator-iOS The two Linux distros shown in the video are Linux Mint 21, which I review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s74cta1cpRY And Zorin OS 16, which I review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTMBFtl_xs4 Oh, and my ExplainingTheFuture 'AI, Robots & the Future' video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaGIo_Viazs For additional ExplainingComputers videos and other content, you can become a channel member here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbiGcwDWZjz05njNPrJU7jA/join More videos on computing and related topics can be found at http://www.youtube.com/explainingcomputers You may also like my ExplainingTheFuture channel at: http://www.youtube.com/explainingthefuture Chapters: 00:00 Introduction 00:43 Linux Foundations 05:39 Warpinator for Windows 09:08 Mobile OS (Android & iOS) 11:25 Settings & Fixes 14:22 Simple File Transfers (wrap) #Warpinator #Windows #Linux #ExplainingComputers

Can you select multiple files for transfer?
@pa4tim Says:
10 years ago I tried without luck to connect my phone to Linux. 4 years ago I switched to W10/11 due to some applications I needed. This week back to Linux Mint and loving to be back again. Today I tried warpinator and it went so easy and fast as in the video. Linux is come very far in being user friendly. A lot has happened in 4 years

Duly installed and working. Thank you very much! I'd been wondering how to get my Windows stuff into Linux.

Thanks a lot for the video.
@luigiprovencher Says:
How do you connect manually if they don't find each other?

I am totally new to this channel. If I had to imagine what a "computer expert" looks like ITS THIS GUY 100%!!! This is the face of "the computer guy". anyhow Im going to attempt this warpinator and winpinator on my PC android and my linux mint computer (pretty new to this linux stuff as well). lets see how it goes!

8:28 That zebra-like animal is called an Okapi, you can also call it a zebra giraffe. In nature it only exists in the Congo.
@joeMW284 Says:
I've never been able to get this to work. It sees the other device but is unable to connect. It's frustrating. Yes, I made sure my firewall is off.
@ChaiBronz Says:
Do both computers need to be on for Warpinator to work? ie. If I want to grab a file from a computer in the basement which is currently shut down, Warpintator would not be able to access it?
@cimbakahn Says:
ExplainingComputers: Thank you very much for this information! I really appreciate it. That Zebra stripped creature is called an Okapi.
@dci-WatchTutorials Says:
The animal is an Okapi. Here in Japan they are easy to find at zoos. Cute name too.
@ronaldronald8819 Says:
Cheers mate! So much easier then setting up nfs under Linux, with the added bones that i can in an easy way copy stuff from and to my phone.

Outstandingly clear and much appreciated presentation of Warpinator's functionality.
@Raxxa00 Says:
Nice! Although personally I prefer using Syncthing or Resilio Sync for sharing files between OSes

Warpinator and KDE Connect are the two most useful tools that made me stay with Linux this last 4 years,i don't miss Windows,not a single day

I'm also made with love in Poland! 🤣
@strikemaster1 Says:
Its a shame that warpinator cant browse other computers like a true networking system/program. In other words; you can send files but not receive on the same box. But thanks for a very good display of teaching... well done sir.

I can't get my Windows desktop and my Ubuntu laptop to see each other. They are both on my network, both have the same three digits in their IP address. I've tried playing with ufw on my Ubuntu laptop, and have allowed input from ports 42000 and 42001, and have set and unset the 'Group Code'. At first my Windows 10 desktop recognized my Ubuntu laptop, but now, neither sees the other.
@othni Says:
Can I send a file to another computer that is NOT in my local area network? Another computer in the internet? I really do not see how can I do it with Warpinator
@wunderwerkleben5029 Says:
Hey thanks for the great instructions, I used it for my MeLe Q3C to control the telescope. Now I can upload the Camera frames over the network to my Linux Mint PC for editing without a mobile hard drive. Greetings Tom from Bavaria, see you......

I am using this little tool for transfer files between Linux and Android, it is simple to use and quick, but there seems no way to install it on the Pi, or how do I do that ? Update : I finally got it installed on the Pi after some confusion, I need to install Flatpak first, from there I can search for the app to install, it did not actually install but download, I manually installed it. It took quite a while to install with multiple other downloads, and it halted in the middle I don't know it was my network or the remote server problem, anyway I got it running on the Pi after 15min. I tried to connect my 2 Android phone/pad with the Pi, the Pi can see both of them but failed to connect, said something wrong in the firewall and port 42000 must be open, strange was that the Pi can see both of the Android device but they can only see the Pi ! I reboot everything including the router and try again but same result, I then boot up my Mint Debian to try and everything worked fine, I have not changed anything on the network I don't know what caused that.

thanks for information :)

FTP?
@blank2559 Says:
Hello does someone knows what to do when both PC sides get showed as offline inside win- or warpinator and wont allow to send anything
@kevgermany Says:
Interesting. Especially the Android/Windows side. Looks like there could be issues with public networks. Security... Guess it's not going to work for backups to a NAS box
@furzkram Says:
Installed on orangpi, works. Installed on Windows 10 - doesn't work. Changed adapter settings from auto to use adapter - no change. Disabled Antivirus - no change. Added Firewall rules incoming and outgoing for TCP and UDP for the used ports - Wrpinator on Orangpi now SEES the Windows machine, but can't connect, Winpinator still can't find any other computers. Giving up. I don't have enough lifetime left to waste it on Linux.

I've been trying to do exactly this for years and now I can thanks to you!
@konasteph Says:
You have NO IDEA how many years I have battled Samba. Now it works, now it doesn't. Linux updates often bring in a new version of samba, well. thats it, scratch my head again trying to get Samba working yet again. Taking a thumb drive to the other machine was often the best way to do it. So far, warpinator has worked for me.. it has to pass the test of time, Samba sure has NOT!
@brucelytle1144 Says:
Would like to see a Raspberry Mint Pi...
@stamatisperrakis4298 Says:
By the way, the zebra like animal is an ocapi
@koplingdangas Says:
Thank you! It's so easy, click and go!
@GabrielW386 Says:
For the longest time I was using adb.exe in the command line to transfer. 'adb pull file.txt'/'adb push file.txt' and then sometimes mtp in Explorer.
@puffintube Says:
Can you recommend a utility for sharing files over the Internet, not just on a local network? I use Resilio Sync, but this program is free to use for personal use only. Maybe you know some free analogues? Thanks!
@panjo40 Says:
the question that i have ,is do the computers have to be switched on ,or can the receiving pc be off,I have ,say a thinkpad running MXlinux,but i also have another laptop with Win10,can they be used,even though i do not always have the Win 10 connected to the Ethernet cable thanking you
@MrMoonpie001 Says:
Thank you Chris and very informative and valuable to me as well! I am bouncing data all around now days and it is nice to have a program that can make it over these different platforms. Do you know what other file types this can handle?? PDF or .MOV or any such stuff! Thank you for all you do, it is good to see you old friend!!! Rich aka moonpie001
@cranksv477 Says:
I'm really enjoying your videos Christopher. I am waiting for delivery of a Raspberry Pi 4 8gb that I plan to install OMV6 a to replace my Pi3 and OMV6 using your video as a guide. Do you think Warpinator can be installed in OMV6 to cure slow file transfer speeds I am suffering??
