Eliot Ness: The Untouchable Lawman

Eliot Ness: The Untouchable Lawman

????

In the 1920's, the mob ruled Chicago. Al Capone had lawmen, the police force, and politicians under his thumb, but it was Eliot Ness, a federal agent with the Prohibition Bureau, who became the biggest thorn in Al Capone's side. Along with his band of Untouchables, Ness would make history for his fearless raids on Al Capone's bootlegging operations, earning himself a place in the annals of criminal history. ? Did Ness really lose the "game" in Kingsbury Run, didn´t the incidents stop when the slum area was removed?

Lol so bad they got Al Capone in such little stuff.
@madcat789 Says:
In a just world, Capone would've been arrested no questions ask.
@Dave-gy1hx Says:
Elliot Ness was a true idiot, he slid out of ridicule only because of earlier tax evasion charges agaisnt Al Capone was the reason he was imprisoned. Elliot Ness would never have any other formal law enforcement jobs would be available to him, and it was due to knowing he was an idiot.

Only people watching this video are older people. My younger family members don't even know who Ness is or was. This video should have had more views.
@msba1228 Says:
Wow did anyone catch the misinformation in this video. If Ness was born in 1903 how did he become the head of the untouchables in 1913.

What a coinkidink. I have the complete Robert Stack episodes and yes, dated but quite fun to watch. All sorts of future stars had early roles on The Untouchables. Worth a look!

Chicago was safer under Al Capone's rule then it is today
@CJM-rg5rt Says:
That butcher case is so much scarier if you look into the PA swamp murders. It seems pretty obvious it was the same person because the MO is identical and this guy was known to operate on a train route attached to Cleveland, sometimes butchering Hobos on the train itself.
@CompelledFungus Says:
This guy had some sad existence, maybe he was a still a virgin, poor boy.

I liked him better than pretty much any gangster. I liked lots of gangster. Any cop that did what he did. Got to respect not just his job but the man.
@despitslo-fistudio7127 Says:
The main reason no one was caught was because elliot ness always told reports before the raid so they could gain fame so capone got tips off the reporters Just an interesting fact that shows how much fame can be gained over time just due to rumors
@bystanderbutch3509 Says:
Elliot Ness was not responsible for the downfall of the mob in Chicago. Simon Whistler put the fear of God in these gangsters. They knew Mr. Whistler was disappointed with their criminal behavior and the mob knew when Mr. Whistler was not happy with someone, the results could be catastrophic for them. They made sure the Untouchables reached them first, fearing the fact that Mr. Whistler could be on his way.
@solrinin Says:
We missed out on having official boi agents solving murder mysteries...
@deboraarena5668 Says:
Simon, you should make compilation videos where you put together past episodes on related topics (maybe even across channels). That would be awesome.
@bhavens9149 Says:
Maybe we just need to outlaw the name Sweeney? because hey, it comes up in the names of mass murderers way too often!
@mattolivier1835 Says:
Eliot Ness was truly an evil man.

“You think, eventually, that nothing can disturb you and that your nerves are impregnable. Yet, looking down at that familiar face, I realized death is something to which we never become calloused” Elliot Ness
@mattday2656 Says:
as I kid I loved the untouchables, the older I get I find myself agreeing more with Al Capone, lol. But Ness seemed kinda based in some respects.

I knew a man from Pennsylvania who claimed that Ness was living in a small town in north central PA, when he died and that he had Ness's service revolver. I don't know if any of that is true. I'm thinking that it was a false story.

@jessaphillips2846 Says:
Hey Simon, I was thinking since you have already done a video about the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II you could perhaps do a video about Princess Anne? I think she’s by far the most interesting member of the royal family, and has committed her life to serving others through her many charities, only to have much of it overshadowed by her reputation with the media and her then sister in law Diana getting all the praise. She’s done so much from competing in the Olympics to working sometimes over 500 events in a year. Perhaps you could even do a small introduction with some personal thoughts about Queen Elizabeth at the start of the video?
