Violence is fine. Sex isn't, because it's essentially never needed to communicate what was actually happening. Sex scenes are virtually always included for erotic purposes or both erotic and informative purposes. That's why it's wrong

That’s reassuring.

Christians who try to insulate themselves from the world in order to be holy are useless. Christians who embrace and love the world more than Jesus are less than useless.

@SaintHurtz Says:
"You have to see a naked woman or man in a movie like "Schindler's List" to see it"🤣🤣 Christians who refuse to indulge personally in sinful sexual activity will watch movies and shows, read books and articles, and visit Internet sites that highlight, display, promote, or make light of sexual immorality. It’s as if we’ve said to the world, “We’re not going to do what you do, but we'll gladly entertain ourselves by watching you.” It’s sick, this tendency that brings delight to us when we observe others in sexual sin or any other? This man says, "sure, depending the age of the audience" WHAT!? Here's what Yeshua says, Psalm 101:3 I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away; it shall not cling to me. Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” Romans 12:2  Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. James 4:4   You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

I Remember when I was younger and my interest for creating stories was growing. I wanted to write a horror concept however I didn't want to inspire fear like most Hollywood horror stuff do. I wasn't sure what I wanted to inspire honestly but I just had an anfinity for the thrill of horror. but I also wanted to write something Christian that glorifies God. So I asked my older brother who is my spiritual mentor and he said something profound that really shaped my perspective. He said " The Book of Revelations is almost entirely a horror, scary story. However it inspires the right kind of fear, the fear of the Lord."
@HartyBiker Says:
I think it depends on how graphic you want to be with it. For sex for example it is entirely possible to have 2 people having sex as part of a story and yet not actually show any explicit sex. You don't need to show any actual details. The bible doesn't tell us details about it, even uses euphemisms like "lay with" rather than a more common term. I'll stand by my conviction that sex vividly depicted in film is always pornographic to some extent, and I have a high enough view of fellow image bearers not to want them degaded like that. Violence is similar, yes it may be used as part of the story, but when it is there more for entertainment than story telling then we are essentially just enjoying watching fellow image bearers suffer and die. Hacksaw ridge, while generally a pretty good film from a narrative point of view, is, at least in my opinion, an example of a film that went a little too far into glorifying violence. Even secular reviewers used words like "war porn".
@MrBimirud Says:
It was fascinating to read the great film critic Robert Ebert refer to The Passion of the Christ as "the most violent movie he had ever seen." Squeaky-clean Christianity ain't really Christianity.
@simonejohnson-ramlakhan1724 Says:
I get sick in the tummy when I see any type of violence. I just block my eyes all the time. I do not know if it is something psychology but I remembered watching the old movie of Jesus's crucifixion as a child and I used to be bawling down the place in my bed, asking forgiveness for my sins etc. Not me again, I will read about it in the Bible, I do not need to see. Those things are very traumatic to me. Presently, I just watch biblical cartoons and documentaries. When I was pregnant with my son, my husband would watch Criminal Minds but even hearing the audio was affecting me. My siblings make fun of me for that. Maybe I should look for a biblical cartoon on Jesus's crucifixion. I watch Superbook lol.
@UninstallEverything Says:
The passion of the Christ?.. “Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any *likeness* *of* *any* *thing* *that* *is* *in* *heaven* above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:”
@nicholasahrendt9094 Says:
Ironic that even when people see they still will not believe. They say, "were is your evidence", or "show me proof." The proof is the dead sea scrolls, ruins of Sodom and Gomorrah, the shroud of turin, Noah's ark, and most of all the understanding that there is this existence.
@lh1673 Says:
Yes, something has to be seen rather than just TOLD you, my believer family and friends and pastors will TELL me there is God but as you say I rather SEE he or she exists (if does) to get sense of it!
@RedemptionMedia-USA Says:
No. The TV will send many to Hell and cause many to stumble. Why would you promote allowing sex scenes? And not mention the depth of the violent scenes and intent. Not good. Not good at all.
@RedemptionMedia-USA Says:
No to explicit images. No way. Not even a chance.
@almuel Says:
I'm glad that Frank and agree on so many things. I think intention plays a big role here. I love watching a lot of David Lynch and experimental films where sex, violence, gore and such frequently appear. I think it's okay for me to watch it because I'm not watching them out of lust or evil, my end goal is the art that the film portrays and I can clearly see that because I'm not morbidly curious or sexually aroused when I see those films. If however someone were to watch films that aren't about the art and actually about enticing the audience with violence and sex —which makes up most of the dumb films that come out these days— then that is most definitely wrong.
@IamKarimLyn Says:
I know every name of the movies he mentioned... Never watched one
@snowman4821 Says:
This is very interesting for me as a creative. I would love to one day create a Christian approved graphic novel, and I have been really juggling ideas for how to handle how to depict my characters struggles with their weaknesses/temptations. One character struggles with a strong yearning for female companionship (if you catch my drift), but I don't want to show his struggle in a way that is tempting to others with the same weakness. It's going to be a very fine line I may end up walking like a tightrope, but I also want to honor God in their character arcs, and not go against my conscience. If God wills, I will make it. I want to practice my art more and more to be prepared for the opportunity, should it arise by God's grace.
@honesttruth986 Says:
I honestly thought Frank would say absolutely not on all accounts so his answer surprised me...though he did not really mention the sex part at all at least not with the movies he mentioned...
@vejeke Says:
The moral lesson and the reason at the very end always get me... _Anyone who _*_beats their male or female slave_*_ with a rod must be punished if the slave dies as a direct result, _*_but they are not to be punished_*_ if the slave recovers after a day or two, _*_since the slave is their property._* Exodus 21:20-21

Matthew 6:22-23 The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! I believe this is the very Lie that is spiritually crippling the majority of Christians in America. The Bible tells us history in a way that does not cause a person to take pleasure in the sin. Thereby falling into it. Hollowood is most often the very opposite. It depicts sex and violence in way that people will take pleasure in it. Does that Pleasure come from God? NO WAY! Taking pleasure in something that does not come from God is a deadly form of idolatry. .... For example: if there is a movie with immodesty, And my flesh takes pleasure in "looking" at the immodesty; does that pleasure come from God. NO! If you say yes, then what's wrong with Porn? Almost all of modern movies will promote lies, that are contrary to God's Character Nature, and divine order. Taking pleasure in something that does not come from God is Idolatry. And buying (watching) this entertainment is funding the promotion of these lies. 2 Thess 2:11-12… God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie, that they all might be damned, those who believed not in the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. Psalms 101:3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes; I hate the work of those who fall away. Rm 12:9 Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 1 Peter 1:13-19 Therefore gird up the loins of your mind,... "BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY Ezekiel 6:9 I was crushed by their adulterous heart which has departed from Me, and by their eyes which play the harlot after their idols.

This is true. Would not reccomend watching reqium for a dream but it did an excellent job scarring me from my drug experiences. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. This answer reminds me of a Buddhist friend who “justified” the ideas of polygamy and polytheism by pointing out that many famous men in the Bible had several wives, and that the Old Testament talks about “other gods.” Of course, he failed to mention what the Bible TAUGHT about such things. Turek’s rationale seems very weak, especially as he bases so much on the agr of the viewer rather than how the subject is handled or what message is being communicated. The Bible does have “scenes” of graphic violence or disturbing sex, but it NEVER does so gratuitously or for the purpose of titillating the reader. Also, the scenes are left to the imagination, not graphically displayed (as in movies). Too few movie makers understand the power of imagination and their story-telling suffers because of it…as well as their audiences!

And when people have to see what is not true that is what's alarming when they don't understand the Bible that means only one thing holy Scripture is that holy Scripture and if you or if there is no teachers that can teach there's a problem that's why they're called false prophets because they cannot open ears for them to be heard you understand the difference now good teachers be good students.!!!

@cameroncombs1942 Says:
i would say no nudity = good, any nudity = bad, even if it's a good lesson :), which i'm guessing that frank was talking about the no nudity kind of sex scenes :) and the violence..well i play multiple violent video games, and that doesn't make me wanna go kill people lol, it really just depends on the person :) but in general i'd say that's fine
@bumstudios8817 Says:
Me having not seen any of them…
@WyWrD1 Says:
Beautifully put. I was struggling with a answer, as I am a film maker
@philjohnson957 Says:
Agreed... The Bible itself has some pretty rated R content in it so why wouldn't it be okay to watch a movie with violence or even a video game? However horror movies and movies centered around sex are completely different
@doublethebenjamin8185 Says:
Full agree, and want to add to this. You can depict sex without it becomes overly explicit or near pornographic like shows such as Game of Thrones tends to do. I will say that both of these things, sex and violence, can be used to provoke a very visceral response in an audience, which can often be a good thing.
@3luckydog Says:
We have pictures and videos and books, Professors and our Pastors for this. We don’t need Satanic Hollywood for any lessons. Turek will jump through flaming hoops of B.S. to not give up his burning lust for Hollywood and things of this world.
@franklinford9875 Says:
The Bible is a word picture book. It give graphic enough detail to put a picture in your mind.
@jordanwyatt4084 Says:
Yeah, I've been saying for a long time the religion needs to quit indoctrinating children. I would also like to point out that circumcision IS genital mutilation, and I view it exactly the same as trans surgery. Circumcision in and of itself is a contradiction. If you were created perfect in God's image and your body is a temple, then why would you remove a part of your son's temple without his consent?
@gracewatson6927 Says:
I haven't seen any of those movies
@gracewatson6927 Says:
No
@pamelamyrick5435 Says:
True romance has nothing to do with sex. Sexually explicit scenes have no place on film. IMO it’s glorified PORN! It edifies no one.
@SonsOfAnarchyReject Says:
I don’t have a problem with the violence depictions because it doesn’t create such a problem and it is not morally wrong to see it, while it is morally wrong to watch something with people having open sex, and that does create so many problems, so I either don’t fully understand what Frank said or I disagree, I think we probably agree there is just confusion because of the way the clip shows his answer
@DEVILLXX74 Says:
I've seen all of them but "the Passion of Christ" but that's by choice
@19nineteenthirteen19 Says:
One more thing. I say this out of love my brother, but it must be said nonetheless. Your Eyewear look like safety glasses. Really. That's constructive criticism. I'm just some random guy and you may love those glasses lol. But maybe you are curious or maybe no one has been honest with you. Everytime you pop up in my YouTube feed I always think it's one of my wood working channels because of your safety glasses! So there's my two cents. You need new glasses that are less distracting. Because I'm sure there are a ton of people out there like Me who may miss out on an important part of the gospel because they are thinking about why you are wearing safety goggles!😁 Maranatha
