The title has no bearing on the conversation at hand I came looking for answers about the tree of life that is talked about in genesis 3... very unfortunate
@lancedooley7558 Says:
Simple to understand.
@Lucas-gm3bv Says:
How is this title/video not a non sequitur? (I’ll watch it a second time… nope, still a non sequitur.) The principle of evolution relies on the imperfections inherent to genetics being analog. The infidelity is the force that creates change; evolution would halt if it did anything more than approximated the fidelity of perfect digital data. For the “he who has an ear” crowd, I’ll see that Tree of Life non sequitur and raise you another non sequitur: Adam and Eve could not conceive their own children in digital form. If they could, we’d all be hermaphrodite clones of each other. (It’s a non sequitur, it isn’t meant to make sense.) But I can only raise like for like. I’m not willing to permit the mangling of (I’m presuming) [Richard] Dawkins’ theories or Bill Gates’ sayings to fit any narrative out of their original context. If you would so readily corrupt modern epistles to suit your arguments, on what faith should anyone take it that you do not pervert thousands-of-years-old texts whose authenticity is already questionable at best?

I wish there was no mention of the tree of life in the caption.

Why don't we in our day and age ever find DNA forming in it's infancy? You got to wonder...
@Matthew_Holton Says:
We know from phylogenetic analysis that all life on earth shares a common ancestor. Phylogenetics also allows us to determine the evolutionary history of every species for which we sequence its genome and mitichondrial DNA. This means not only do we know that evolution is true but that there really is a tree if life (though some of it has network features such as in horizontal gene transfer between single celled forms of life and cross breeding between extant species). We also know what a great deal of that tree looks like. The results from all this genetic analysis using many different markers also agrees and confirms the mountain of evidence from phylogeny analysis, the fossil record and observed speciation and evolution.

Why does Frank continue to talk on scientific matters that he has shown time and time again that he does not understand? We have plenty of evidence for evolution, no reason to believe in Intelligent Design

Speaking as a Christian, I don't mind so much just the "fact" of someone's belief in the tenets of Young Earth creationism. [contrary to what some "atheists" assert, it DOESN'T "hold back scientific advancement" to any appreciable degree; less so everyday] What I DO mind is the MINDSET that Young Earth creationism survives-upon: Uninformed, superstitious, stubborn "thinking"/"interpretation" of a book that most YEC's know only enough about to parrot, that reduces/degrades that book and the religion it promotes to nothing more than tossing spilled salt over one's shoulder, or circling the "holy" black cube, and kissing the "holy" meteorite in "May Ca." Alas; they won't free their mind from their fear-based "pair versions" of Christianity until they WANT-TO enough. I HOPE that today's easy access to such Christians as Dr. Bill Craig, Dr. Hugh Ross, and Dr. John Lennox will speed-up the process.....

So your answer is to misquote someone while making an appeal to authority fallacy? You guys really need to work on your material. Seems that fallacies is still the best you have to offer.
@tongakhan230 Says:
Shouldn't the question be: "WAS there a tree of life?" The design of things around us with the process to replicate itself was brought into being originally. Be it an apple tree, a butterfly, a lion or human.
@joshswicegood3253 Says:
Umm, that had nothing to do with the question of the tree of life. Or did I miss something?
@steelcity6420 Says:
Those same people like Dawkins really don't have a leg to stand on. The origins of life stump them every time.

But the tree of life????!?!
@akoskormendi9711 Says:
Dr. Stephen Mayer clearly does not know what he is talking about, as there are no letters or symbols in DNA, nor is it digital. It's a long connected sequence of nucleotides. It's a molecule.
@akoskormendi9711 Says:
FYI that quote from Bill Gates is from 1995. That quote doesn't hold much water seeing how the effing phone I am writing this on has programs thousands of times larger and more complex than any program of that era. And btw the information stored in human DNA is about 1.5 GB digitally, while we have video games with above 200 GB of data.
@iBackshift Says:
Gal 4-24 which things are an allegory. Tree = being. Life = Christ. Mar 8-24  And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. The "tree of life"(symbol) is.........Christ.(Being).
@jesussavestrinahaifa5884 Says:
God invented love, He is the essence of love. It's the nucleus of life itself and it's the foundation that gives life meaning. But because of sin, great love can cause DEEP pain and suffering. Zechariah 12:10. 10 “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn. Never has this scripture had so much meaning to me like it does today. How I do grieve and mourn bitterly for the coming of Christ the way I'm mourning and grieving to be with my only child. Fasting and praying this sabbath I am overwhelmed and weeping with thoughts of the mothers and children of the Holocaust. They must have been consumed with UNBEARABLE ANGUISH wondering and grieving about their children! And the mothers that were buried alive with their infants and toddlers, HOW unfathomable and HORRIFIC!! This world is an ABYSS of wickedness and ingradititude!! Because my earliest memories as a toddler were those of grief, my heart was aching at a very young age for children that were suffering.  I remember crying myself to sleep praying for the children around the world. My heart is always sorrowful for innocent children and because of that I swore to myself growing up I would never get married and never have children and I would try to adopt but I ended up getting married and having one precious blessing of a son. I implore everybody that reads this please fast and pray one day a week at least for children and mothers around the world that are suffering. Isaiah 49:15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. Matthew 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing The reason the Lord refers to the bond between a mother and offspring in the scriptures is because other than the agape love that God has for his creation there is no love and no bond that is stronger than this. Having an amazing grandmother who taught me what agape love was before I even knew of the word agape, I thought I knew what love was but when I held my son in my arms I could not believe this new level of a spiritual transcendent agape love. That being said, I'm fairly certain that there are fathers that love their children with such a great love also!! How apropos that the entire sky has been gray all day and now it is raining. My outside matches my inside. Seek God while He can still be found!!

The Tree of Life is part of an ancient narrative that is supposed to explain human origins - but does not. Frank and Steve live in this world along with their followers.

1 Peter 3:15 "But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give a defense to everyone who asks you the reason for the hope that is in you. But respond with gentleness and respect, "
@zeddicuszorrander3599 Says:
The question is kind of a dumb one. What Frank Turek doesn't realize is we don't know what the evidence would be if God created everything. So, unless we see God creating a universe in action, there really isn't any proof of creationism. Now, if we knew the Biblical God existed before trying to prove Creationism, then that would be a little more convincing. Otherwise, it seems like getting the cart before the horse.
@saxmanjpr5092 Says:
I can guarantee you that there is a tree of life. When my Grandmother was on her deathbed (she died at home in her living room) She was pointing to things in thin air that I could not see. At one point, as she as facing the back huge window of the house, she said to me, "That tree! Do you see it? ITS RIGHT THERE!" - The only thing visible to the naked eye was a guava bush that was in front of her that that about 75 yards away.
@incredulouspasta3304 Says:
If you want to posit an intelligent guiding force behind evolution, you can... but all you are doing is adding a speculative philosophical conclusion on top of the theory of evolution. Interesting if true, but there's no way to test it, and it has almost no practical scientific implications. ... Unless he is trying to use this analogy to imply that evolution is false? If that's the case, his reasoning is absurd.

Did Adam and Eve story really happen or not?
@cnault3244 Says:
According to the claims in Genesis 3 "So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life." Find this flaming sword and you will find the tree of life.
@cnault3244 Says:
"Is There Really a Tree of Life?" How are you defining the "tree of life"?
@todbeard8118 Says:
I challenge Christians to research the history of their religion, especially the concept of hell. Hell didn't originate with Christianity. Judaism originally considered Sheol to be the afterlife, the permanent abode of dead for both the righteous and wicked (8th century BC)) Around the 6th century BC the idea changed to Sheol being temporary, the righteous would go on to dwell with God and the wicked would suffer in the fire and smoke of Gehenna. Christianity also adopted hell from the Greek underworld realm of Hades ruled by the god of the dead. Evildoers suffered gloomy imprisonment in an even deeper level called Tartarus. Christianity combined Hades and Tartarus with the Jewish Gehenna to create what we think of as the Christian version of hell. The satan was just an adversary in God's court in the Hebrew bible and Old Testament doing nothing without God's permission, not an evil deity. The story of Job is a great example. Christianity adopted the evil character of Satan from the earlier Zoroastrian religion and it's evil deity Angra Mainyu. As we know Christianity sprang from Judaism. The original Israelites were indigenous Canaanites. Judaism evolved from the earlier polytheistic Canaanite religion with El as it's chief deity, Asherah his wife, Baal his son and Anat his daughter. El was the original God of the Israelites. The word Israel is based on El. The satan was just an adversary in God's court in the Old Testament doing nothing without God's permission. The story of Job is a great example. Christianity adopted the evil character of Satan from the earlier Zoroastrian religion's evil deity Angra Mainyu. I urge you to watch YouTube and Pagan Origin of Judaism There are numerous sources on this history. Don't be the ignorant Christian who closes their eyes and puts their fingers in their ears to actual history. Research the history and make your own decision.

can't argue with that!

But we know that living beings generate novel DNA through mutation and selection. The DNA in you wasn't made by somebody at the moment of conception, it was made by a biological process. Don't you know that from biology you learned at school?

@hwd7 Says:
Information is not a physical property of matter, that tells you that it originated in a non-physical mind, DNA has start/stop codons, that is semiotic information. Please explain how mRNA reads and knows where to 🛑? Drew Berry has animations on this, and as he said that's not even considering the error correcting machinery in the cell. So the cell is full of information technology, kinesins, ATP Synthase,  mRNA,  tRNA, etc. Can Dawkins explain the evolutionary  origin of these nano-machines?

Did you guys put the wrong title on this video? It certainly appears so. Please would you be so kind as to fix it, as I'd rather like to watch a video with the title "Is There Really a Tree of Life?" please. Don't get me wrong, this is still informative, but still. Thank you.
@hansdemos6510 Says:
Dr. Stephen Meyer is very intelligent, and if anyone knows what the best argument for Intelligent Design is, it should be him. I am therefore very disappointed that he only offers an argument that is well known to be wrong. Dr. Meyer says that _"We know from our uniform and repeated experience that information, especially in a digital or alphabetic form, always comes from an intelligent source."_ But even if that is true (which it is not, but that is a different kettle of fish), that would still not warrant the conclusion that the type of information contained in the DNA molecule should also come from an intelligent source. If _"we know from our uniform and repeated experience that"_ swans are white, does that mean that all swans therefore must be white? Of course it doesn't. This argument is deeply and irreparably flawed.
@midlander4 Says:
So within 30 sec we get the tired old Gates/DNA/software quote out of context, displaying your own disingenuous pig-ignorance. And this really your "best argument"? Seriously? Just laughable.
@INTJerk Says:
It's pretty inexplicable that only one tree of life should emerge rather than many of them.
@ChuckBrowntheClown Says:
Digital information. Number information because numbers are digits. He knows the number of hairs that are on our head. So in other words numbers are the same as words that are formed and to make sentences. Sentences sum things up. Then we have those little code things where numbers represent letters then you figure out what the saying is?
@Wanderer24 Says:
I find it fascinating that so many people who see this will deny it and say it is false simply bc they don't want to, or even just bc they don't have to. God bless yall, and remember that doing something for God really doesn't affect you that much in terms of what happens here. We could sleep tonight and not wake up the next morning, I want to die knowing that my short time on Earth was spent with a fulfilling life in God. No better way to spend it, I'll relax when He comes to get me. God bless you who reads this, and to all that haven't

“If you declare with your mouth “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Now is the time to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. Obey His commands and repent of your sins because Jesus is coming back soon. Tomorrow isn’t promised.
