What should I do when a loved one deconstructs (leaves the faith)? with Alisa Childers

????

This internet age is full of trends. One of the latest is the trend to 'deconstruct' one's beliefs about Jesus and Christianity. If someone you love has done this, how should you respond? Alisa Childers joins Frank on this livestream to offer insights on how you can make progress, especially when your loved one now thinks you are 'toxic' and seems resistant to reason. Bring your questions!

Even if there was a writing on the sky that say I'm God that will last to the end of people life they will come up with simulation theory or advanced civilization credited it. Scientist will try to figure it out. If they even can.

Alisa's comments at the 56 minute mark is reminiscent of my experience. I know from personal experience that a prominent organization, which originated the terms Side A and Side B within the whole LGBT area that one holding to anything that even remotely leans traditionalist in a resolute way is not tolerated, despite claims of tolerance. (And let's just set aside that whole, is Side B orthodox or not, because this issue is whether or not one holds to even the most basic of traditional theological positions in general on most any area.) For the period that I was involved both within the proprietary platform and in a Facebook group that was unofficially associated with this organization, I held to a traditionalist position. I always tried to be polite and respectful, even when discussions got heated. I would try to contribute by noting areas, where we should be able to find some sort of common agreement. I was ostracized/shunned. I was ganged up on. Even asking basic questions, and expressing why you had trouble with aspects of transgenderism would get you called a troll and other nasty things, just for I have an issue with this and here's why? Individuals whom I thought were at least friendly, refused to come to my defense. I eventually left. Frankly, in retrospect, the fleshly part of me to this day five years later wishes that I left a very scathing departure post in both platforms. But, I simply quietly left, because honestly, nothing I said about leaving and why, even a very polite shaming, would have mattered, because many of these hearts are blind. I did send a group IM for the FB group to the ones I interacted the most, and those who obviously try to model Christ-like behavior on a consistent basis, even in disagreement, did respond in a very respectful polite manner. Those particular individuals I definitely pray that I will see them that their error is eventually corrected and will see them in heaven, given their goodwill, despite presently holding to some false theology.

Hey Frank, I know an atheist who says that God can’t be timeless and create the world because beings outside of time can’t do things that require temporal processes. How should I respond to him? Thanks!
@MegaAce54 Says:
Let the person know that GOD, in the spiritual realm, cares about souls and you sharing the good news of salvation to other non believing souls before they die. In the material realm, GOD cares about your behavior! HE wrote a book about how to behave. Get to reading and obeying! Remember, Since we are all Simul Justus et Peccators until we die and go into glory, human beings (Saved or Lost) will always screw things up. If all was well down here on earth, we wouldn't want Heaven!

Listen and learn from the one leaving. They may be leaving the faith because they clearly see Christianity as false. Be open to the truth that could be wrong.

My best friend since age 6 (had our first apartment together, we're in each other's weddings, worked together, the whole lot) completely shut me off 10 years ago and hasn't spoken to me since. He said he didn't want anything to do with God or anyone who believes in Him. I still text him every year on his birthday and tell him I love him, and I pray for him all the time. He had a close friend who took his own life, and I think that, along with hypocrisy in his family, drove him away.

@1:09:30 The guest says his son seems like he’s been brainwashed because he keeps telling them what they believe. Yet this is exactly what Frank and all believers do to us atheists. You tell us what we believe and get it so wrong. This is how we know you’re brainwashed. And that includes Frank.
@frankcardano4142 Says:
They simply leave the faith because they learn it’s all made up.

If any christian asked me if christianity was true, would I believe it. I would simply answere : If the God they say they believe in wanted me to then yes, cause I have no free will to choose otherwise. But I would also ask them if christianity was not true, would you stop believing it?
@steveprofiler Says:
Ask christians if the God they believe in is love if he create people that never wanted to exist.

Apologetics is fine, it's a tool and can be a good tool but it's not the best tool. I find the problem is that most Christians are biblically illiterate and have terrible theology. I think that apologists at times can have the worst theology which creates a greater conflict since the claim is to use logic, reason, and evidence to prove Christianity with apologetics but then their theology lacks logic, reason, and evidence. Many Christians' theology today is also very fragile because many of the Pastors are fragile. On numerous occasions in my 30 years of sitting with Pastors and Teachers, I have asked a lot of questions and in many cases they have gotten irritated and stern with me, ended the conversation, asked me to leave, or just talked like a politician to give me a polite brush off. I don't believe that the deconstruction problem is about evidence but about theology. The problem with Christianity as a whole today is that many Christians live by fear. The greatest falsehood that has been perpetuated by the Church is that people who die who don't believe in Jesus go to an immediate and eternal Hell forever. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE LIE!! And I hope to end the lie now. But if you believe this wholeheartedly and a loved one deconstructs, you'll never handle the situation correctly because you will be so gripped with fear, you'll lose your mind on them in fear of them going to Hell for eternity. I don't know where this started but this idea is a falsehood that too many believe. Hebrews 9:27 27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, Revelation 20 11 "Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." You can't have an immediate sentence to an eternal Hell at death and a Judgment day where the dead appear before God where eternal Hell is sentenced, it makes no logical sense. The logical belief is that judgment and sentencing to an eternal Hell happens at this moment and something different happens at death. Maye it's similar but wherever or whatever happens it's not eternal. Second point Matthew 25:41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: So here we see that Hell was created for the Devil and his angels. Are they in Hell? No. Rev 12 7 And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, 8 but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for [b]them in heaven any longer. 9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. So if the Devil isn't in Hell then why would we believe people are now? What we learn from Scripture is that Satan and the fallen angels (whom eternal Hell is created for)have been before the Throne of God and were there to see God create the universe. Job 1 and Job 38 Job 1 6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. 7 And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” Job 38 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? 6 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy? So do we actually believe that God would create Hell for Satan and his angels who were there at Creation and have been before the Throne of God, who have full knowledge of God and still choose to rebel and think God sends people to eternal Hell when they die?? Then we see in Revelation 6 Seal 4 is world war where 1/4 of the world goes to war and it says Death and Hades rides. 7 When He opened the fourth seal I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come and see.” 8 So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth. the reason Death and Hades ride here is because that's what happens to people and where they go and in Rev 20 they give up the dead. Luke 16 tells us about Hades. 19 “There was a certain rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and fared sumptuously every day. 20 But there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, full of sores, who was laid at his gate, 21 desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. 22 So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried. 23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 “Then he cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.’ 25 But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that in your lifetime you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things; but now he is comforted and you are tormented. 26 And besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.’ 27 “Then he said, ‘I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house, 28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.’ 29 Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.’ 30 And he said, ‘No, father Abraham; but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’ 31 But he said to him, If they do not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded though one rise from the dead.’ ” I think that this fear that many Christians have because of a lack of understanding causes huge issues. And this isn't the only one. There are a few big ones and they all revolve around fear. Fear of Hell, fear of Judgment, fear of loss. Too often the phrase "the Bible says" is used when there's very little understanding to the meaning. Christians often quote the passage in Matthew 7 "13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." Because Jesus was speaking to the Jewish people and at that time they would be few who find it through Him. But in Revelation 7:9-14 John says 9 After these things I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations and kindreds, and people, and tongues [k]stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with long white robes, and palms in their hands... 13 And one of the Elders spake, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in long white robes? and whence came they? 14 And I said unto him, Lord, thou knowest. And he said unto me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their long robes, and have made their long robes white in the blood of the Lamb." A number no one could count will be saved. The biggest issue with Christianity are Christians who as Paul wrote to Timothy in 1 Timothy 4:1-5 Now the (Holy) Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer." Sadly, everyone thinks passages like this apply to everyone else except them because they teach the Bible and they have sound doctrine. I just wish that Christians could simply acknowledge that after 2000 years of church heresies beginning in the 3rd Centuries and hundreds of denominations and numerous church splits of which all of them think they teach the Bible accurately that maybe we don't know the Bible as well as we think. Which causes unbelievers to not believe because of our hypocrisy and biblical illiteracy or cause believers to lose faith. Sadly, The great apostasy hasn't even begun yet, wait a couple more years and you will see massive amounts of Christians lose faith because Churches have very few answers to the world we live in today. Take care.

My deconstruction was/is absolutely about truth. I also abhor postmodernism. For many, there just flat out isn’t enough evidence to base one’s life on Christianity. Deconstructing is a natural byproduct of Christians having access to more information(internet). The same thing is occurring in Mormon circles.

I've seen how someone like Jordan Peterson "who was an atheist" come to a realization that none can come close a better role model like Jesus He quoted alot from Fyodor Dostoevsky But my favorite is this one Even those who have renounced Christianity and attack it, in their inmost being still follow the Christian ideal, for hitherto neither their subtlety nor the ardour of their hearts has been able to create a higher ideal of man and of virtue than the ideal given by Christ of old. Fyodor Dostoevsky

I've read the entire Bible cover to cover over a dozen times in a period of about 10 years and studied it 8 or 10 hours a day! I find it as poorly written bronze age fiction. Dashing babies against the wall, destroy the enemy but keep the virgins for yourselves, having bears come out of the woods and kill a group of kids for name calling Elisha baldy or empty head, you can beat your slaves and if they don't die in a day or two, you are not held accountable. They are your property and can pass them on to your children. I'm an atheist and for the right reasons. I will challenge any Christian ✝️ in a debate at any time..

I guess I did follow this trend although I never knew about it. I think it's worth to question dogmatic claims about faith presented without evidence. so yeah , i guess it's fair enough. I'm glad you have made videos on how to respond.
