I have always respected veritasium for its research. But Bhagwad Gita is not just a poem. The **Bhagavad Gita** ("Song of the Lord") is a 700-verse Hindu scripture in Sanskrit. It is part of the epic **Mahabharata** (Bhishma Parva, chapters 23–40) and is usually dated to roughly the 2nd century BCE.
**The setting:** the Gita takes place on the battlefield of **Kurukshetra**, just before a great war between two branches of one family, the Pandavas and the Kauravas. The warrior prince **Arjuna** sees his cousins, teachers and elders in the opposing army and loses the will to fight. His charioteer, **Krishna**, who is revealed as God, counsels him. The whole Gita is that conversation, in 18 chapters, narrated by Sanjaya to the blind king Dhritarashtra.
**Its main teachings:**
- **Do your duty (dharma) without attachment to results.** The best-known line is "You have a right to your work, but never to its fruits" (2.47).
- **The self (atman) is eternal.** The body dies, but the soul is never born and never dies, so Arjuna shouldn't grieve.
- **There are three paths to liberation:**
- **Karma yoga:** selfless action
- **Jnana yoga:** knowledge and wisdom
- **Bhakti yoga:** loving devotion to God
- **Keep an even mind.** Stay steady in success and failure, pleasure and pain.
- **Krishna's cosmic form (Vishvarupa):** in chapter 11 he reveals his universal form to Arjuna.
**Its influence:** it is one of the most widely read spiritual texts in the world. Gandhi called it his "spiritual dictionary", and thinkers such as Tilak, Vivekananda, Aurobindo, Einstein and Oppenheimer drew on it. Many people read it as a practical guide to acting rightly under pressure, not only as religious scripture.

I find the celebration of Oppenheimer deeply disturbing. Why should his so-called *"scientific brilliance"* count in his favor when it helped create one of the most devastating weapons in human history? Should we celebrate Hitler for his brilliance too, if he had any? At what point do the consequences of a person's actions outweigh their accomplishments?
I also question the manufactured success surrounding the movie, especially with speculation surrounding Hollywood and money laundering.
To me, technical brilliance is no excuse for mass destruction, and cultural celebration should never replace moral accountability.
