It’s a cult - tax exempt status under religion

Honestly, some of these apply to Christianity as well.
@Doc-Holliday1851 Says:
Scientology isn’t a cult of Christianity, but it is a cult.
@mandys6525 Says:
I applaud Lea Remini for exposing Scientology for what it is which includes her personal experience. If you have not seen that series check it out. She got pushback from Scientology about what she was saying.

Muslims do the same thing with their Quran and Sunnah, luckily they do or they would be all killing us
@andrewschaeffer8147 Says:
Why is he wrong? Because he starts off the wrong definition of cult. “a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister.”
@sarahbethlauritzen5105 Says:
There's no docterines in real Christianity. We don't need any, our God is alive and talks to us daily. Docterines are for the dead, not the living.
@SuperSynoptic Says:
A counterfeit religion trying to entrap the unsuspecting.
@joshualove8817 Says:
Where do you get your definition of cult? Scientology is a cult because they have a group of people who created their own religion, and that is literally the definition of a cult
@melleetheka Says:
Jehovah’s Witnesses are in a cult and sadly they have no idea and will shun you if you try to talk to them about what the Bible really teaches
@mattslater2603 Says:
Bobby doesn't even know what "cult" means.
@somerandom3247 Says:
Lol under that criteria Christianity is more of a cult than scientology.
@RangerRyke Says:
Dude you totally just made up your own definition of cult there.
@hansdemos6510 Says:
Sorry, but most of the things Mr. Conway lists here were going in the protestant church I went to as a kid too: - Total allegiance to the founder? Check. - Complete indoctrination? Check. - "Disconnection"; trying to avoid people with different opinions; my soccer club played in the Saturday league. Check. - Control; protestant schools from kindergarten through high school... Check. - Social penalties for leaving the church; not so common nowadays, but people sometimes had to move to a different town to escape the social isolation and disapproval, so yeah... Check.

Seems totally opposite of what Christ came to do. He said he came to set the captives free, cause the blind to see, and give us abundant life. In rejecring Christ, they enslave themselves, blind themselves and rob themselves of the joy and freedom of that abundant life.😢

Hmm, interesting observations on cults. Where have I seen that before other than scientology? People never think their beliefs are part of a cult.
@dantheman909 Says:
That’s not what the definition of a cult is. Cult: “a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing.”
@justingary5322 Says:
Scientology is definitely a cult, not true and unscriptural misinformation because it disproves itself. AMEN 🙏👊❤️. It's awesome seeing archeological, scientific and historical evidence of stories in The Bible having occured in reality. You should still as Christians love people enough to help them but also tell them The Truth. I'm glad brothers Be Bobby Conway and Frank Turek addressed this on Cross Examined ministry. I was an atheist and agnostic from 17-19 years old until I discovered evidence of God's Existence and Christianity myself. Creation requires a Creator we human beings would call God. Atheists seem to think that God cares if we know that He exists or not obviously don't understand why the last book of The Bible is called Revelation because He finally reveals Himself to the whole world. Jesus The Christ of Nazareth (Yeshua H'Mashiac The Messiah in Hebrew) is The Son of The Living God came to save us from the Eternal consequences of our sins. This has nothing and everything to do with the video but please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a 23 year old Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college graduate. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't. I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict. Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers. Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " On The Origin of Species" and I'm not convinced of macro Evolutionary biology whereas I accept micro Evolution like speciation and adaptation but not macro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word. Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

@ricksanchez3176 Says:
How can you say the term cult is dependant on Biblical belief?
@frankcardano4142 Says:
Third. Through various forms of control such as special schooling for parents and children. (Church) Memorising quotes. (Bible verses) Taking regular courses and three cheers as they face his portrait on the wall. (Singing hymns in front of pictures of Jesus every Sunday in church) How on earth can any sane person not see he’s describing his own religion? This is laughable. 😂
@Gek1177 Says:
Scientologists is definitely a cult. I know that some atheists say that Christianity is a cult too but it isn't. That said there are some Christian sects and churches that are cults but none of them really compare in size to Scientology.
@macmac1022 Says:
"The label cult is reserved for those claiming belief in the bible while denying essential doctrines of christianity." Where did you get this definition from, its not the one in the dictionaries? Cult - a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object. a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister. a misplaced or excessive admiration for a particular person or thing. They are a cult by the dictionary definition of the word, and so is christianity. I have no idea what you are talking about here as you seem to be redefining the word cult, or maybe your using some really old definition from somewhere else. Does christianity have its followers swear allegiance to its founder and ask for complete indoctrination? Yes. Do christians tune out anything or anyone negative about their beliefs? OH YES. I will give examples at the end. Do christians have special schools for followers? Yes, catholic schools sunday schools and I would even consider a church to be a school for christians. Do christians memorize bible verses? Yes Do christians meet and they pray to jesus on the wall at church? Yes. Is it hard to leave your christian group as a christian? The would depend I would think but from the mouths of ex christians who have had their families shun them for leaving in extreme cases that would be yes. In the cases where the person was still still as a friend and even still helps out at the church and is still accepted there then its no. This is just like the brainwashing short from cross examined where the lack of self awareness of posting something that totally applies to christianity as well but instead of thinking about that and consciously seeing it, we have classic case of denial and projection. The denial is not being able to see you yourselves are like this and the projection is saying others are suffering from this. Let me ask the questions from the brainwashing video and show you. These questions were the points brought up by stephen hassan about brainwashing that was used in the video modified like the ones above to point towards christians instead of others. A Does christianity/islam effect how you feel and act? B Is hell not something to fear, aka a fear tactic? C Does it tell you to listen to it and dont listen to others? D Does it promote dependency and obedience to a leader? E Does it undermine your ability to think? A. Yes a belief system is going to effect how you feel and act. B. Hell is the biggest fear tactic ever, its like the scariest thing imaginable. C. It says listen to it and dont listen to other, by calling atheists fools and other religions wrong. Galileo comes to mind as someone speaking the truth, and the church trying to shut down the truth as a perfect example of this. And today I would say evolution is the same thing still happening. D. Its core message is about obedience and dependency on god, the ultimate leader. E. Just like galileo being right and evolution being right, these are denied because the ability to think has been compromised. As well, the fact I can only get 3% of christians and muslims to answer these 5 simple questions while atheists and agnostics are at 100% speaks towards this as well. I will even call it that if christians/muslims respond to this, most will avoid the questions. I feel that confident that I can even say this and am sure this will still happen. watch. Now these are the questions that will show if you are brainwashed and go into denial with the judge questions and show you really are brainwashed. #1 If you were brainwashed would you know it? #2 If someone said they had a test for brainwashing, would you want to take it? #3 If they then said, if you cannot answer these questions, that means your brainwashed, would you be giving it 100% effort to answer those questions? All criminals are caught red handed of murder 100% guilty and show no remorse. The judges always apply the perfect amount of punishment. All things being equal and for arguments sake. Now I will give an example. There are 4 judges and 10 guilty criminals. Judge #1 orders punishment for all 10 criminals and does not forgive without punishment a single one. Judge #2 forgives without punishment all 10 criminals. Judge #3 forgives without punishment 9 of them and punishes 1 of them. Judge #4 punishes 9 of them and forgives without punishment 1 of them. #4 Which judge is the most/maximally just? #5 Which judge is the most/maximally forgiving? #6 Is judge #3 either most/maximally forgiving or most just? #7 Is judge #4 most/maximally forgiving or most just? #8 Is it possible for any judge to be both most/maximally forgiving and most/maximally just? Atheists and agnostics can answer the judge questions nearly 100% of the time, christians and muslims are less then 3% for answering them and often go into denial over them. The answers should be very simple, its pretty much done by definition. I will leave another comment explaining why this happens. They have eyes but yet they cannot see.

@bobcatpnw9123 Says:

@Ordanborniv Says:
This is fine, but the Religious Studies nerd in me has a historical context in mind with regard to "cult." The Romans thought of early Christians as a superstious cult. Etymology and hermeneutics drive my term usage personally, but usage of most concepts evolves over the generations. Fun stuff!
@tedwelton2912 Says:
Cult is a term, in most contexts pejorative, for a relatively small group which is typically led by a charismatic and self-appointed leader, who excessively controls its members, requiring unwavering devotion to a set of beliefs and practices which are considered deviant (outside the norms of society).[1]
