@23:10 His wife sounds like Apu describing Homer as his employee! Lol

17:32 Why does some of this part to the end of his presidency sound so similar? 🤔

My favorite Secretary Of State.

I feel sorry for his wife

Abigail, while I appreciate some things about her, I think she was extremely ambitious for her children.
@WillScarlet16 Says:
I see it as a failure of this country as much as him. The same thing has happened so many times since then - this country riles itself up over the state of things, and to solve it they elect a monster to lead them.
@garitboothe3413 Says:
Wow. Very inspiring. I think he was a man ahead of his time. Pretty much all of his policies and ideas that Congress turned down ended up happening in future generations.
@stevendrumm4957 Says:
Historians rate JQA's Presidency as the 17th best, so they do assess him as being a slightly above average President.

I'm descended from this awesome bloodline and even though not directly from John Q, I personally share much of his views.

I'll be honest, I know Eisenhower equally as a part of WWII and his own presidency.

Almost 200 years after his tenure Joe Biden broke that record as being America's worst president ever.
@pyromania1018 Says:
A good man with strong morals whose presidency was clouded by a baseless conspiracy theory that he had "stolen" the election created by a racist populist. Sound familiar? TBC, I do think Jackson is more accomplished than the orange idiot, but he was still a dick.

John Adams is often viewed as the best founding father cause he was the only one without slaves. In my believe he was by far the most immoral one care for your children more than your self
@jebhated2175 Says:
John Quincy Adams was not a bad president and I actually rank him at 18 all time
@RextheRebel Says:
Wow. Even in the beginning of the country, the electoral college was denying the popular Will of the People... And great projects being undermined to fund their own personal wealth. America has always been corrupt it seems..
@PresidentsForKids Says:
He dedicated his life to serving the US across numerous roles. While his presidency wasn't the most successful, he made an impact as a diplomat, secretary of state, and congressman.
@TruthFactsLM57 Says:
During his time in Congress, Adams became increasingly critical of slavery and of the Southern leaders whom he believed controlled the Democratic Party. He was particularly opposed to the annexation of Texas and the Mexican–American War, which he saw as a war to extend slavery and its political grip on Congress. He also led the repeal of the "gag rule", which had prevented the House of Representatives from debating petitions to abolish slavery. Historians concur that Adams was one of the greatest diplomats and secretaries of state in American history; they typically rank him as an average president, as he had an ambitious agenda but could not get it passed by Congress. By contrast, historians also view Adams in a more positive light during his post-presidency because of his vehement stance against slavery, as well as his fight for the rights of women and Native Americans.
@lanaethiadale3635 Says:
He was also a vocal opponent of slavery, a stance that earned him the enmity of many Southern politicians. In the end, Adams' presidency may be best understood as a "successful failure.
@lanaethiadale3635 Says:
He was often seen as aloof and out of touch with the common people, and his policies were viewed as favoring the wealthy and powerful. Additionally, his presidency was marred by political infighting and a lack of major legislative accomplishments.

Small correction: John Adams signed the Declaration of Independence on July 2, 1776. It's the reason why he originally thought July 2 would be the date that which would be celebrated by generations of Americans to come.

I thought that Sir Anthony Hopkins should have won an Oscar for his portrayal of John Quincy Adams in Amistad. Titanic ended up winning the Oscar for best picture for 1997. I thought Amistad was a better movie.
