According to Islam(Quran), the spirit is a command of God (that keeps the body going) whereas the central role of the mankind’s deeds (virtues and vices) in the world is assigned to his/her soul given a free “will” which has to keep learning during the life time (from the divine knowledge/guidance given thru His Books/revelations) as to what is right and wrong and good/bad for him/her in this world with implications for the hereafter.

Converse is true for the wicked/defiant souls with the final abode in hell with of course the provision of God’s mercy for possible forgiveness/partial punishment either within the world on repentance or in the hereafter depending upon the complete record of the soul in question over his entire life.

Well here is what the bible says i am... body and spirit/breathe of life. And those two together create a living soul. So it sounds like i don't have a soul but i am a living soul when both body and spirit are intact. If a light bulb never receives electricity it never produces light. The bulb is just glass and metel, the electricity is just power/energy But both together...is light. This shouldn't even be a debate. Bible is SUPER CLEAR on this. One without the other is nothing.

I've heard many speak of astro projection (how their soul left their body) I don't know how they did such and I don't want to find out. One such person said that they could only remain outside their body for several minutes, they were in the spirit world of darkness according to them. The Bible clearly distinguishes a difference.

Jesus told us who we are in answering the most important commandment. We should love the lord with all our heart, soul, and mind, strength. Heart is the intelligence of the body secularly know as the subconscious mind. The spirit is more or less the life giving breath of God; what animates us and makes us alive beings or alive "souls". All living things have God’s life-giving breath or “ruach” that returns to God once we die.

The simplest way to understand it is the spirit is what you are the soul is who you are.

Soul is emotional part that allows you to feel happy, sad, mad, etc. Even animal have this.

The heart is the core or center of man's being, it is the belly.
The spirit of man is located in his heart or belly.
The soul seems to be a bit more difficult to locate, because we feel things in our heart, but reason and imagine in our head.

Spirit sometimes refers to the breath of life, that which animates our bodies. In other instances, it refers to one’s disposition, one’s mindset, one’s thinking.
The heart metaphorically refers to the locus of one’s thoughts, emotions, desires, beliefs, etc. If I say, “My heart longs for love,” it is the same as saying, “I long for love.”
