~@1:55 "It doesn't matter what you look at ..." This part made me hear my brides voice as if she had just said it again. Having done the postmortem of my 22 year long 1st marriage, a process that lasted 10 years during which I was also a celibate single father, before I met an incredible woman. She had traveled a similar route and had taken the time to finish raising her children before considering a new mate. We met, fell in love, got married and even to this day spend and incredible amount of time talking with each other, easily 3 - 4 hours a day. During a very stressful patch in our 2nd year of marriage (health, money, ex's creating issues and the like) she said to me "Sometimes you're too stern with me." She said it in a such a soft and calm voice that it hit me harder than any fight, betrayal or negative interaction I ever had with my first wife, high school or college girlfriends. From that moment on I have always paused, taken a very deep breath, then consciously chosen language that actually expressed what I felt, conveyed what I intended and articulated what I actually ment. Words are so sharp and meanings are so powerful, especially when trying to communicate with someone who gets you and is on your side. And that is the other point, what we say to ourselves, the tone of our internal dialogue, the real meaning of the words of our self talk verses the actual message we are trying to convey to ourselves, it's important to articulate them well.

I want to get out of a toxic work environment, but I’m scared because I have a disability and don’t know if I can do the new job. Is it better to stay put and feel abused or go through the trouble of learning a totally new job with all the energy that that takes and it’s an unknown if you’re going to get a better boss or better coworkers?

Cognitive behavioral therapy and scientific word salad. He is right on changing the way you think affects your overall body. This is called cognitive behavioral therapy, it's not magic, it's science. I was done when he started on the factory worker explanation. 2 workers together for 30 years, 1 gets cancer the other dosent. It's because of his thoughts. 😂 You can't think your way out of sickness or real medical conditions. The way he is selling this is as if you can think your way out of anything, this is a very dangerous idea. A placebo is literally your thoughts affecting your health. A placebo has never cured a disease that requires medicine. Go get ringworm and then try and think it away, see what happens.

Hey, Tom ... You say that, for you, if you have a strong desire to do or be something that's important (to you, of course) and the belief that you actually can get there and be there, then discipline (motivation) will automatically follow. What would you say to a person who has spent a lifetime putting off until tomorrow, or next week, or next month, all those hard things that need to be done to begin to get there?
@taylorcolonna457 Says:
It makes me sad that so many brilliant people feel in order to protect themselves they must suggest therapy. Something that is not an exact science and can cause more damage by keeping the person trapped in only exploring the problem and not seeking any new direction in a forward solution. Going to the gym. Setting goals are a guarantee for success. Therapy is very expensive guess work that can enslave a mind for decades with no guarantee of positive results. But in order to not be sued one must suggest therapy. I understand it. It still makes me feel sad it is the way it is. ☮️💪❤️😊☯️

Find out the times of day when your brain churns, and watch it as the observer and allow the negative emotions. Don’t tamp them down, but don’t feed the monkeys either. Gradually the repetitive thoughts are less and less stressful. Watch the monkeys, don’t deny them. Over time, you’ll heal and feel better. Takes patience but worth it

Sheesh man this all changed my life. I saw this video five years ago while working at Redhat and wrote an 2000 word article in a secretove and witty tone and my job found out about me making money online and they asked me to resign... Apparently this information is coveted and shouldnt be well known... Sad shit

I remember watching this months ago on the way to pick up my girlfriend. She's had a history of trauma which contributed to her negative thinking, which also had an impact on our relationship. I never really make anyone watch videos but this video I HAD to show her. Something clicked for her that day after I showed her this video. Our relationship improved dramatically over time since she watched this and always points to this video as the turning point in what made her change.❤️

I love all of this and it’s weird how somehow subconsciously after the trauma was over and the therapist all of them mind you, kept saying stop becoming my own therapist just because I was looking into cognitive behavioral therapy, retraining my thoughts before I knew really what it means and what to take and not take from it! They would say I haven’t processed the past trauma and until I did that I wouldn’t get better! What this video helped me see was that even back then when I told them well what was that even going to do. So you want me to relive all that shit that happened to me as a child?! What benefit really is that going to do for you on a hour session once a week going to do so now you opened up those wounds during our hour therapy session and now left me go with no coping skills really and expect a good outcome to talk about the next week I see you?! I eventually had to start putting on an act with the therapist! Since a lot was also riding on her recommendations, like my children’s lives literally. So I learned from watching this that that must of been the powers that be God whatever you believe or just my inner self trying to wake me up. But without having another belief to put in its place I kept doing the things my therapist told me to which mind you was not in anyway helping me if anything kept me in a state of constant depression and honestly I think sometimes some of those therapist who aren’t barely trained in basic counseling even and end up trying to keep ppl from achieving this higher state of consciousness so we forever stay in the matrix that has been created around us! I am still learning but just like the psychologist I had to see for an eval said, he said to the judge that in the 40 yrs he has been doing this that he has never seen someone goes thru as much trauma in their lifetime and he seen a lot. So he thinks statistically I MIGHT not have the ability to parent my then 3 ur old daughter! Just based of statistics my rights were involuntarily terminated and I am currently fighting at the supreme count level. This is not right!! And these are the people that are running our self help world that is recognized at least in the court system! This must change! It’s been on my mind y’all to come up with almost like a 12 steps in aa or na list, same concept but with overcoming trauma! That is creditable in even the courts system!! I have had this burning desire for quite sometime and I started to write down the things that are working for me and that’s what I will eventually use as the model! Because if it can work for me and I’ve been thru every and I mean every single type of trauma and abuse u can think of from incest by parents and grandparents for most your childhood and every other type of abuse ti kidnapped as an adult with my two boys and put into human trafficking and assault to escaping and having your own government that is supposed to protect u turn on you and even gave my one son away to one of my rapists his father saying I made it up when it’s now all over the internet he just was too lazy to check to domestic violence AFTER all that cuz I still hadn’t dealt with the real issues! To having another child my third and one and only daughter for the same courts ti find a way alto take her too which I’m fighting the higher courts now but nonetheless I think that about cracked my whole being!! Months have gone by and I’m sitting here listening to this today for the first time and it’s finally sinking in! So I said all that to ask this… is there a book or steps that you would recommend that starts from the time your feet hit the floor til ur in bed at the end of the night?? I’m trying to create my own but just wanna make sure I’m doing the right steps. Thank u again for making this video
