Nice! I never bothered with Base, maybe I'll give it a try now.

Thank you sir, in all the videos I had watched, only yours that made me understand the libreoffice base. May god bless you.

Beautifully done, as I would expect! No longer having MS Access, and having my work materials info in a Google Sheets sheet, I guess I have to learn Google API to query my data, but, this being YT, "querying google sheets as a database" also showed this, and I cannot resist an E.C. video, so I had to check this out, too. Reminded me of office jobs I had 25 years ago when Access was what everyone used to get queries/reports done. Still, as my info is in a Google Sheet, and even though I have Mint 21 so I have Libre Office Base, I want the fastest and easiest way to get my info. Thanks, you did a sterling job as usual.

nice tutorial - thank you! One question: in the Report Wizard you got a lot of layouts to choose from, how did you got them? I only have a few and only one "Layout of headers and footers" option. also I didn't find an option to save a layout I made in the report designer as a layout to choose from for another report. Hope you can help me with that :)

In the Forms section, I was surprised you have to save the record before the subform populates... is there a way to get live subform data as you select the SoC value? My immediate thought is to attach an event to the list box and write a macro to populate the subform -- is there a simpler method?

Very cool video that shows how to perform the most common operations in creating a database using LibreOffice Base. As a longtime Microsoft Access user, I find that both programs are largely similar and quite capable of delivering sophisticated end user applications. Thanks for providing this concise yet thorough tutorial on creating and using databases with LibreOffice!

@pinorinomoru7260 Says:
that's a good introduction. Just wondering is there a way to get filter in the form to jump from a record to another without the necessity of scroll all list?!

Thank you for showing us the wonders that we can accomplish using free & powerful software. I am retired and was trying to learn SQL for kicks. I spent half a day to create a table and get some entries in. Libre Base has the best of both worlds. The graphical interface, your great tutorial in simple terms and the mighty software behind helps us to understand the relationship between tables. Kudos for showing us how joining tables can be done in a jiffy. Thank you very much. You have helped me learn.

Hi, is it possible to add photos to fields?
@hatemkamal1682 Says:
A question please: You have shown us that we can edit the query using SQL language. But everything I read online says that the language for coding in Libreoffice Base is a sort of Basic language developed specifically for Libreoffice. Would you please clarify this? Also I read that Python can be used in Libreoffice Base. Would you please clarify that too? Can any of these languages be used in other parts of Libreoffice like Calc? Is it that many languages can be used in Libreoffice but each language does a specific thing that other languages cannot do? or how can we understand that?
@hatemkamal1682 Says:
Thank you. Can you please make similar videos for MySQL?

Very good overview of Base. I have already created some text files with fields separated by semi-colons. I wonder if I can use that to populate a database, so as to continue with the more sensible form-based input.

Phenomenal video. I do have a question, where do I find more report layouts? I followed along to create the same database, however, I only have a fraction of what was shown in your video, so my generated report looks terrible. I have tried searching for "report layouts" and "Report templates" with no luck. Perhaps I'm using the wrong verbiage in my searches?
@CCoburn3 Says:
Great video. I have never seen why people use spreadsheets as databases when actual databases are so easy to use and do the job so much better.

I got a problem with libreoffice, in the setup I selected A4 as main paper size but every time I go to print something, I still need to select A4 again. I also selected A4 in the printer settings in windows but I still can't have libreoffice remember that setting. Where is the problem?
