The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror video game developed by Striking Distance Studios and published by Krafton. It was released on December 2, 2022 and is directed by Glen Schofield, who had previously co-created the Dead Space series. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Characters include: Jacob Lee, Dani Nakamura, Warden Duncan Cole, Capt. Leon Ferris, Dr. Caitlyn Mahler, Elias Porter, Max Percy, Kane Metzger, Prendergast Tanaka, Juniper Carol, Keller Lennox, Kroeber "Bald Gummer"
In 2320, Jacob Lee (Josh Duhamel) and his partner Max are contract freight transporters working for the United Jupiter Company, and co-pilots of the UJC Charon. They have recently been ferrying shipments of an unlabeled, volatile cargo between Europa and the UJC-operated Black Iron Prison on Callisto, and their latest run promises to be lucrative enough for them to retire. During the descent from orbit to BIP, the Charon is boarded by the Outer Way, a group purportedly responsible for numerous terrorist attacks on civilians, and the ship crash-lands on Callisto's surface. Jacob and Outer Way leader Dani Nakamura (Karen Fukuhara) are the only survivors. Both are recovered by BIP security head Captain Leon Ferris (Sam Witwer).
In The Callisto Protocol, players assume the role of Jacob Lee, an inmate of Black Iron Prison on the moon Callisto. Jacob is controlled from a third-person perspective, and most important gameplay information is displayed via a holographic HUD viewed from the same perspective.

Shame we didn’t see more deaths on the end boss. I play the game along with your videos. I play 30 minutes of gameplay and then watch you do the same part afterwards and if I die 4 times on a boss and you don’t show your deaths it’s not as entertaining.

Feels like it took the biggest inspiration from The Thing... A virus-like organism discovered frozen in Arctic gets unleased on unsuspecting workers. The facility gets messed up and then an evil corporation / shadow government / the elite seeks to profit from from the discovery. Which is where it gets its Alien vibes. Totally unoriginal and nothing like the Event Horizon, but good enough to build around the amazing atmosphere, gameplay, level design, and graphics.

As of october 21, 2023... I finally completed this game. That final boss was annoying af but I made it through. Tip (the explosives laying on the ground are helpful to throw at him.)

the trailer was terrifying and promised a lot more than the game delivered. once the game got going there were few changes and surprises ahead. the one thing i could not understand were the spiked panels throughout the game that you shot the zombies upon. they were only there to help out the game player. structurally there was no reason to have them. stupid
