Yeah as a child i was hooked to play the first one. I really never finished it up. Years later i played the second one. Oh dear it was pure love. The entire time I wad playing this game, I was missing that urgency aspect of the first one. That race against the clock really makes you focus and think. Put it down after beating the game but not really sinking into the Post Game. Finally picked it up again and stumbled on Olimars Shipwreck Tale. It feels like they made Pikmin 1 Master Quest. Pretty much the exact experience I was wanting. I've already played it through 3 times. First time I got tonthe last day with 5 parts left and I bailed because it didn't seem feasible (didn't realize you had infinite time to gather you pikmin before the hedgehog thing fight in the last area, basically lost a day because of it) hope Pikmin 5 has several sequences like that of varying length and difficulty. 5 things in 2 days, 10 things in 5 days, 60 in 30. Also would be great if you earned resources based on how fast you beat them, how many pikmin you grew, what percent survived, etc.

After the dumpster fire that was Pikmin 3, I'm more than a little skeptical of Pikmin 4. Honestly, the third one did have a few new and fun gameplay elements, but when the main story is only 10 hours long for a $60 game, that's when I have a problem with it. Seriously, I beat the main story in ten hours. I'm not joking.

I played Pikmin 3 Deluxe after playing Pikmin 4 (first Pikmin game), and it made me realize how amazing the new mechanics of Pikmin 4 are. Oatchi is a HUGE game changer for overall pacing and consolidation of gameplay. The Pikmin are “smarter” in Pikmin 4 in some ways (staying by the finishing location once they’re done carrying material stacks, better pathing around hazards, quicker response times, etc.). Also, I really am appreciating the segment-type levels in the pipes more — it’s a great break from the open worlds which can really pull your attention all over the place, so it’s nice to have areas with one clear cut goal.
Such a wonderful game. Both are great, but Pikmin 4 really is incredible
