I just finished his book and honestly, I can’t think of many leaders with Lee Kuan Yew’s level of wisdom, ingenuity, and grit. If he were Western, the narrative machine might have turned him into a near mythic figure. Instead, because he didn’t bend to Western pressure or approval, he’s often boxed into simplistic labels like “dictator.”
Whatever one thinks of his methods, the results are undeniable - transforming Singapore from third world to first world within a generation is extraordinary. I hope Singaporeans truly appreciate how rare that leadership was.

LKW proves what a lot of populists who can't see beyond their pathetic and feeble ethnic identities don't want to believe. That civic nationalism with skilled immigrants under a multiracial monocultural society works. This is a concept that has seldomly been genuinely tried throughout the world. Along with Singapore, I can only think of The UAE, Switzerland, and to a lesser degrees, Canada, The UK, Yugoslovia, and New Zealand adopting this philosophy. And ironically, Malaysia is starting to follow Singapore's blueprint in its recent economic rise.
