Does being cured of a nervous condition that I had since childhood of biting my fingernails until they bled count as a personal miracle to me from God? Because I believe that it is.

How can we be certain that what we consider a miracle isn't an anomaly, in Frank's definition of the terms?

Magic is sleight of hand? Isn't that illusionism or trickery? Magic I'd say is closer to said demonic activity.

If someone who is a Christian is diagnosed with cancer, receives chemo and other treatments, prays a lot, and then several years later is cancer free, is that a miracle? If someone who is not a Christian is diagnosed with cancer, receives chemo and other treatments, doesn't pray, and then several years later is cancer free, is that not a miracle? I wonder about this because I know these two different people. One swears that God healed her. The other swears God did not hear her but modern science did.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Does anyone have any evidence of a miracle happening?

It’s a miracle we even exist in a chaotic universe.

I worked for 33 years in education for the handicapped/disabled. Severely intellectually handicapped, deaf, blind, and physically disabled. These institutions are heavily invested in religion. In 33 years of practical work and direct contact, I did not see and hear of any miracles of a disabled getting fixed despite all the preaching and prayers by institutions, staff, parents, and friends.

How can someone know if god can do miracles?
@Godlimate Says:
“You want a miracle? Be the miracle” This is only true when it’s voiced by Morgan Freeman.

I suppose for me to consider something a miracle, given that I haven’t been convinced of any so far, No possible naturalistic explanation would be plausible (and sometimes we just don’t know all possible naturalistic explanations) Case in point: When discovering CMBR, the two scientists thought it was aliens or God contacting us.

I remember one time I worked a horrific 12 hour shift at the hospital full of terrible suffering which I will not go into detail about. I clocked out and went home numb with so many mixed feelings and questions. I went into the shower fell on my knees and started weeping uncontrollably. I simply said out loud in the shower, " Why God, why?"....immediately as I was crying on my knees in shower Exodus 4:6 came to my mind. It's about when Moses went to burning bush. God told Moses put your hand into your pocket then pull it out. Once Moses did that his had was fully leprosy. Then God told Moses put your hand back into your pocket. So Moses did and when he took his hand out of pocket his hand was fully restored. God is God, we are not. The Lord gives and takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord Most High. I both shake and rejoice.

Dr. Turek says that a miracle is "a true overpowering of a natural law", so how can we know an event should be classified as a miracle in Dr. Turek's classification if we don't know all there is to know about physics? It seems to me that if we are confronted with an "unusual event", the most we can say is that it is an "anomaly" (in Dr. Turek's six tiered classification). I don't think we are able to determine if an unusual event should be classified as "divine providence" (the concept of which seems to deny free will, by the way), or as a "miracle", if we cannot exclude the possibility that the event was caused by some natural cause or even "law" that we simply don't know about yet. As it is impossible to exclude this, we can never classify any event as a "miracle" in Dr. Turek's classification.

Me - what evidence would you accept? Atheist - Jesus could appear to me like all these people claim happens. Me - but that would be a miracle. You will be mocked and scoffed at. Atheist - ...
@terminat1 Says:
Only one miracle is happening today, and that is the miracle of salvation. The Bible is a complete revelation. God won't add to it by continuing to perform supernatural acts. If a legitimate supernatural act occurs, it must be from Satan. People like to talk about miracles, but the Bible is clear that God's revelation is complete. What God wants us to know is written in the Bible. Unfortunately, those who are looking for miracles today are just like the Pharisees of old. They're not satisfied with the Bible alone for spiritual truth.
@cisuminocisumino3250 Says:
A miracle is anything extraordinary that is not explainable by scientific laws. It can also refer to unusual or timely events that do not occur often. I think the question should be how can we tell if a miracle is from God or of divine agency.
@theoskeptomai2535 Says:
The answer is simple. You can _know_ that an event is a miracle when you abdicate _all_ inquiry, reason, experience, logical inference, experimentation, and common sense for the desperate validation of an unsubstantiated and unjustified speculation that such an event had to have a supernatural cause for the _sole purpose_ of confirming the existence of a imaginary deity.
@gordo191 Says:
Miracles must be tested by the bible , Even satan can perform miracles , he will do many miracles when he impersonates JESUS,
@piijay14 Says:
A Miracle is an event that is scientifically inexplicable and/or defies nature!
@JamesRichardWiley Says:
A miracle is an event that deviates from God's Perfect Plan, unless the miracle is included in God's Perfect Plan. You decide.
@piegros Says:

@Kaymen1980 Says:
Miracle = An event ascribed to a supernatural cause in the absence of a natural explanation. Therefore, _the miraculous_ is an assertion.
@ladyceno14 Says:
No miracle has ever withstood rigorous scientific scrutiny.
@Doc-Holliday1851 Says:
An event isn’t a miracle without a miracle worker.

Miracles can't be explained by human means, scientific methods or replicated. Creation of the universe, life and the resurrection of Jesus Christ are examples of miraculous events.
