@Classica2010 Says:
seriously dropping both Crazy Diamond AND Killer Queen in one video? Simon, pray tell, are you a STAND user? Also I was at my Junior High years when Spirit died, and when Opportunity died, it was Valentines day morning, me going home from work, where my heart broke
@sodoesrachael_ Says:
Not me crying over a robot.... RIP Opportunity, we still love you.
@Vollification Says:
I promised not to cry, I promised not to cry, I promised not to cry.... *crying* p_p
@briandoss9232 Says:
Absolutely breathtakingly enormous waste of time, brainpower, and money. But fascinating all the same. I remember checking on Oppy every day until the end.
@ehrldawg Says:
Youve obviously ran out of ideas. May i suggest General John J Pershing.
@fratercontenduntocculta8161 Says:
Crazy to think Mars is a planet inhabited entirely by robots
@GrayNeko Says:
That was beautiful. Goodnight, Oppy. You will never be forgotten. ^_^
@keith_5584 Says:
So does Red Planet have good producers, or did Nasa have the same idea about the bouncing fruit airbags?
@donsandsii4642 Says:
Opportunity getting 2 hour bio pic
@ckl9390 Says:
Like the Voyager twins, Opportunity is from an era where probes and rovers, assuming they survived the initial stages of the mission, long outlasted their intended mission lifetime.
@Braxxen1991 Says:
I'm actually tearing up at Oppy's end.
@draznin Says:
Thanks. I pretty much cried through that whole thing.
@Fourwedge Says:
Wow, this looks just like Iceland.
@Cheffe919 Says:
American congress be like: 800 million for science? How dare you! Also American congress: Trillions in wars that we started? Where do we sign. It always makes me chuckle when I hear congress
@playstation10able Says:
Always wondered why they didn't Install wipers on the solar panels to clear the dust lol
@shugadaddy4841 Says:
Wow. Great read. You made the rovers come to life and made me see them as more than metal machines. I actual feel mournful of them
@its_A_me_Njobe Says:
cool video and topic and all... but why isn't it on mega projects or whatever?
@MrCheckster2000 Says:
I was in the engineering team for the curiosity rover....what a cool, exciting project!!
@danimossi3625 Says:
Interesting yes, but has anyone else struggled to concentrate because of that unusual hair? No disrespect intended, but I struggled to focus because I couldn’t work out why anyone would expect to be taken seriously with that unusual choice.
@torbayfruitsandjackpots1678 Says:
Of course you can’t start the story from when the rover landed on mars.I was waiting for you to say,’ well,when NASA scientists love each other very much……..’😝😝😂
@NICOLAI_VET Says:
Mars. The only known planet populated with only robots. 👍🏽
@Darkstar..... Says:
If the earth is destroyed by an asteroid that little plucky rover will be some of the only evidence for our existence.
@stevenmartinek815 Says:
Simon Whistler jumped from a trampoline and landed on Mars long before the rovers did. He spent 2 days mapping the entire surface and collecting samples of the soil. He did this without a space suit and helmet. Among the samples Mr. Whistler studied while still on the surface showed signs of water and the existence of bacteria which Mr. Whister determined in his great wisdom that Mars was once teeming with intelligent life. Mr. Whistler kept this a secret so the explorers and researchers would always have a job.
@13thravenpurple94 Says:
Great work 🥳 Thank you 💜
@pastlife960 Says:
The first colony on Mars should be named Opportunity
@multiyapples Says:
Pretty cool and interesting.
@mattfissell3068 Says:
I always get a kick out of Simon reading the word conductive, when it has clearly been written as conducive. It's all the same to us, I suppose.
@ericwilder9892 Says:
Haven't watched Wall-E but have to now. You should do more movie reviews.
@Rathclav Says:
Thanks Simon, I needed that.
@TheMistersnoid Says:
I think it's also important to mention that at one point they used it to draw a dick in the sand
@bradlevantis913 Says:
This was a great biographics topic.
@willmfrank Says:
"My battery is low, and it's getting dark..." 😢
@BMW7series251 Says:
What a brilliant vlog. Thank you.
@AngryIrishMan Says:
On the brightside, Elon can pick them up while he is out there and keep them as souvenirs. I bet one of them would make an awesome desk
@tdjf81 Says:
conductive? conducive
@doomy_mcdoomerson Says:
Simon, there’s one feat you failed to mention: On March 11, 2004, Spirit pointed it’s camera upwards and took a picture of Earth. It was the first picture of Earth taken from the surface of another planet.
@wterlep Says:
New channel: Robographics
@Istandby666 Says:
Listening to this makes me happy to know, I grew up in the best time to believe. The kid's of today have no understanding what it took us to do,, so they can live a lazy life.
@Istandby666 Says:
When humans finally make it to Mars, these robot's will be collected and brought back for a history museum.
@yvindwestersund9720 Says:
And then IN an not so far future There she is and the coolest selfi will be taken by the visitors from earth Acknowledging the true trailblazer she was Opening up the landscape of MARS to humanity for all to see RIP opertunety well done Just saying 🇧🇻
@xx3868 Says:
Rovers dont last long and especially on Venus!, So you dont get attached to them but 14 years??? Yeah, that would have been close to losing another human you knew a long time or even family.....
@dylanstephens4075 Says:
I still don't understand how given all the money and thought put into these machines, no one could seem to figure out how to build in some kind of brush for the panels. Or maybe just a small compressor with small outlet ports stationed around the panels that could blast concentrated blasts at regular intervals to keep the panels clean. I dunno, maybe it's just me but if I'm sending something to another planet I'd want to take every step possible to increase longevity.
@Sir_Uncle_Ned Says:
Opportunity was an incredible machine. The little rover that could. It went beyond even the wildest expectations of longevity and slowly traversed its way into our hearts as it studied the red planet like never before. With the modern rovers having RTG power sources, we may be seeing that mars endurance record fall as ever more sophisticated rovers, aircraft, and eventually, human vehicles start to cover more distance. But Oppy was a true wonder of engineering.
@thcdreams654 Says:
Another awesome video. Thanks brotato salad.
@lewesc Says:
I absolutely would have voted for Marsy Mc Mars Face

If the robots ever take over just hide behind some sand
@wesleymorris6862 Says:
I'm sad this has so few views after a week.
@laurabrewer9131 Says:
I have never felt so attached to a robot/computer before. I'm practically in tears. But, it's a beautiful story.
@psyclotronxx3083 Says:
oh look, three toxic white men!
