Jordan Peterson Comments on the Queen's Passing

????

Dr. Peterson's extensive catalog is available now on DailyWire+: https://utm.io/ueSXh Queen Elizabeth II passed away hours before Dr Jordan B Peterson would give a public lecture. At this event, he was asked, 'how could the death of the Queen affect the boundaries between English communities around the world?' His answer was honest and thought provoking. He explores the weight and grandeur of the monarchical system, the legacy of its longest reigning Queen, and the great loss so many have to bear. // SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL // Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/jordanbpeterson.com/youtubesignup Donations: https://jordanbpeterson.com/donate // COURSES // Discovering Personality: https://jordanbpeterson.com/personality Self Authoring Suite: https://selfauthoring.com Understand Myself (personality test): https://understandmyself.com // BOOKS // Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life: https://jordanbpeterson.com/Beyond-Order 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos: https://jordanbpeterson.com/12-rules-for-life Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief: https://jordanbpeterson.com/maps-of-meaning // LINKS // Website: https://jordanbpeterson.com Events: https://jordanbpeterson.com/events Blog: https://jordanbpeterson.com/blog Podcast: https://jordanbpeterson.com/podcast // SOCIAL // Twitter: https://twitter.com/jordanbpeterson Instagram: https://instagram.com/jordan.b.peterson Facebook: https://facebook.com/drjordanpeterson Telegram: https://t.me/DrJordanPeterson All socials: https://linktr.ee/drjordanbpeterson #JordanPeterson #JordanBPeterson #DrJordanPeterson #DrJordanBPeterson #DailyWirePlus #queenelizabeth #queenofengland #news #britain

Personally speaking - there's two people who have been shining lights to me in life - the male inspiration is Jordan Peterson. The female inspiration is Queen Elizabeth II. Jordan Peterson being on British soil when the Queen passed away and speaking so immediately after the fact was quite deep for me on several levels.

People praising monarchies is wild. It's antithetical to American culture. We are revolutionaries. Jordan Peterson is a hack.

Watching this in 2024. What a great speech, off the cuff. Sadly many British people don't know their own history and the education system is not helping in this regard. The monarchy is not in great shape at the moment, what with the King having been treated for prostrate cancer, and the Princess of Wales being treated for cancer too. Queen Elizabeth was an excellent monarch and she genuinely cared about Britain and the wider Commonwealth. Her own mother had lived to the age of 101 and many of us felt that the late Queen would bring up her own century too. She kept her declining health a secret, there's been speculation that it was some kind of blood cancer that she had towards the end. Many believe that she had some concerns about her eldest son's suitability for the role of monarch. It does remind me of King Edward VII coming to the throne in 1901 after the long reign of Queen Victoria. He was elderly by then and not in the best of health. Is history repeating itself perhaps ? Dr Peterson made a profound statement here, as he always does. The world is a better place with him in it, he is a beacon of hope in a dark and troubled world.

Watching this again, now 2 years later, his words are the true more today than ever. The Beautiful Queen Elizabeth II, is gone, England has something special to guard, right now people are going to jail for freedom of speech. Laws of England and Great Britain are being thrown in the rubbish. something I am sure would not be happening with a strong monarchy. It is as if they waited for her to be gone. So very sad!!!!

For good and bad king Charles is not his mother. I do think the monarchy does need to update but I personally would have preferred prince William to be king rather than Charles

It's about time a senior politician stood up to praise our history. But the trouble is that nobody would because they're all a bunch of mealy-mouthed appeasers. Both Lab and Con.

I swore my allegiance to the Queen over god. Now shes gone, my patriotism is more connected to the land and traditional british culture instead of the royal family. I think there are many like me. I've changed into a man that wants a British republic. I'd love to preserve the commonwealth though I really believe in it as a force for good. Like an improved version of the British Empire of old.

The first time I ever came across anti-royalist thinking was when my family moved to Scotland in 1967: I was 15. It was part and parcel of 'ScotNat' beliefs that the royal family were an English imposition of power over the Scots..conveniently forgetting that there was an awful lot of Scots ancestry in the royal family, and the then Queen Mother was in fact a Scot. My instinctive reaction was to reject this notion, though with typical teenage cowardice, I said nothing. I am one of the youngest Brits to have been born before Queen Elizabeth's reign; the King died a month after my first birthday. I never realised just how much the royal family meant to me until the Queen died, and Mr Peterson's words have clarified it all for me.

Charles illness is both a catastrophe and a blessing. He's not seen as up to the job, but as a caretaker to prepare for William this could work. I personally thought Charles shouldn't have taken the throne, William in his forties made a much better potential continuation of the monarch than a 75 year old that we now know has health issues. The Queen was so stable because of her longevity. Continuity is the most essential element of the monarchy. It's the bedrock that the country recognises as both an unofficial authority and an independent soft power ambassador. The Queen was politically mute, socially neutral and relative quiet on most things. Which is why when she spoke out people listened. It wasn't about forcing compliance, it was about creating a dialogue and encouraging discussion. You didn't really ignore the Queen. Even though she had no real political power, even if she had it she didn't use it, she knew how soft power worked...
@daveofyorkshire301 Says:
If your chief executive has to go before someone, bow and answer to them - it is a very good thing. The monarch has no real power these days, but forcing your Primeminister to bow and defer to someone elses - that knocks hubris right out of them. It's essential to remind everyone with power that they aren't a supreme power. No one person has such power. I know somebody is going to quote special circumstances and historical powers. But they're rabbit holes to get lost down to shutdown the conversation. The most important part of giving someone power is to attach a collar and leash to limit their use of it. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and everyone would be corrupted no matter how much a paragon of virtue they believe they are. When people get power they always believe they are right and they can prove it by applying enough force to make it happen. But it never does happen just the way they want, so they become tyrannical in the pursuit of their Utopia, Nirvana etc and it's always somebody else that failed to create their dream. That's why you reign in people who have power. That's why you never allow independent executive power in one person's hands. That's why you limit and restrict through oversight and direct intervention to prevent tyranny growing... Tyrants can grow from the most peace loving people or the most evil despot they both think they're right and everyone will thank them when they've fixed everything. Nobody thinks they're evil or got it wrong. That's why you need more people to balance the hubris...
@daveofyorkshire301 Says:
This American myth of the separation of powers between executive, judicial and legislative is a myth. Executive appointment judicial and judicial restrain executive, that doesn't sound like separation to me. Legislative is bound to the political executive and judicial are interpreting legislative. THEN throw in the Supreme Court that steps on political, legislative, judicial, executive and a predominant pre-eminent power over all of it... Not to mention executive powers that are ment to control the federal authorities by executive order are actually creating legislative rules for the masses... Not forgetting the complete failure of the forth estate - _the Fourth Estate refers to the press, journalism, or the news media_ _The Fourth Estate is often considered a vital component of a democratic society, as it serves as a watchdog, holding those in power accountable and providing the public with information and perspectives on current events_

@copferthat Says:
It was not the power the Queen held that was important, it was the power she and her office denied politicians. A constitutional monarchy is a strange system designed by a strange and wonderful people It's the worst possible method of government, except for all the rest.

I think Princess Catherine is more than up to the task in terms of maintaining a squeaky clean image and upholding decency and so on, but I’m not sure she has the same charisma as QEII. Perhaps if she gets to that position and has the opportunity to shine, she will blossom.

I'm a Brit ... and a firmly left-wing one at that (although not 'woke'). . Even I have had a belly full of the current fashion for bashing my country. Mostly it comes from those who live here within it and benefit from doing so ... or people with a twisted version of history in their minds. This video is like a tonic. It's the kind of thing I find myself needing to remember and hear every once in a while. I think this is maybe the 5th time I have watched it? Britain IS a truly great country and (even today) most people around the world know it. Thanks for helping us remember, Jordan.
