You fail to talk about the gameplay here at all. I agree with everything you said here, the storytelling is great, the characters, the environment, the attention to detail in the world. But I find the actual gameplay.... bad. Its boring, slow, clunky, feels unfair at times. I find myself often just wanting the combat to end so I can see more of the story... Did you still find this to be the case?

The one thing about the story in this game I will never understand is how Ellie magically enlarged the photo of Joel and Sarah that she got from Tommy. Also Joel increases the bullet capacity of his guns by rubbing them with a rag, kind of like how Sindri upgrades Kratos' axe in God of War.😂

It's amazing how well known concepts in the world of storytelling are revolutionary. Characters are plot. Settings are character. Back-and-forth, logical, and orderly dialogue is a compromise writers make for the sake of brevity intended to keep the reader invested: it's weird how so few visual meduims branch out from it. That's one of the reason so many RPG stories suck: they are just bad visual novels with boring gameplay.
