Breaking Good | Michael Franzese | #302

????

Dr. Peterson's extensive catalog is available now on DailyWire+: https://utm.io/ueSXh Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Michael Franzese discuss being raised in a mafia environment, having a high-ranking father within the crime family, the schemes and successes of his career, and the ultimate reasons for why he walked away. Michael Franzese is an American former mobster once affiliated with the Colombo crime family. Most notable for his gas-tax scheme from the mid 80's, it is estimated that Franzese at one point was personally making eight million dollars a week. At his height Franzese had achieved the rank of Caporegime, or the equivalent of a captain or general within the mob ranks, and was nicknamed the 'Yuppie Don' as well as the 'Prince of the Mob,' by his contemporaries. In 1986, Franzese was sentenced to 10 years in prison for conspiracy charges, and despite being released early, spent the next decade in and out of jail. In 1984 he was finally released, chose to retire from crime, and bought an estate in Florida. Since then he has traveled the world as a public speaker, and has written many books about his life and crimes, such as 1982's Quitting the Mob, or his most recent 2022 publication, Mafia Democracy. —Links— For Michael Franzese Michael Franzese on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4xuh0pSLRLhzWGUnpOlvXw On Twitter https://twitter.com/MichaelFranzese?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor On Instagram https://www.instagram.com/michaelfranzese_/?hl=en Michael's newest book, Mafia Democracy https://www.amazon.com/Mafia-Democracy-Republic-Became-Racket/dp/1544530811 Franzese Wine https://franzesewine.com/ - Sponsors - Birch Gold - Text "JORDAN" to 989898 for your no-cost, no-obligation, FREE information kit Masterworks - Invest in art today with Masterworks at http://masterworks.art/jbp. In recovery, in the Big Book-of AA the release from addiction is said to be due to a psychic change. What an example of a psychic change and being released. Thanks be to God. Inspiring!

This is the most honest conversation I’ve seen in quite a long time. There was no ego or judgement, just honesty. Enlightening.

I know exactly what he meant with total respect with empathy when he speaks about the morality of government taxes. It’s like I used to hang out at this local coffee shop and they would bring in stolen items from many stores. Toothpaste, brushes, shampoos, etc. which at time I buy. I would never buy use iPhone, laptop, tv, even if it’s unlock and at a extremely cheap price. I loathed that behavior and told them if you hungry go to work of course. But if you are gonna steal do it to the cooperations and not steal from ppl personal belonging. Some ppl work hard to purchase that and the havoc and stress they have go through losing the items. That’s immoral and I tell all the ppl at the shop not to buy such personal items bc it’ll encourage them. It’s was COVID time btw. Some of you do not know but the COVID times has put lots of ppl in hard times. It just amplifies poverty hence some ppl steal to get by. Sometimes in life who you are and what you become as a person is based on the environment and what you experience around you. Especially at your adolescence stage until you mutual or grown up. Then you developed logic and sense which really depends on a person’s experience. The strong mind will come to the realization and shake off the bad cells while the weak will go on the destructive path. So deep down I think Michael core have a good and righteous manly heart. He has found his fate with what he has experience and went through. Knowing myself you have to go though a life’s changing event for such things to happen. Something that hits you really hard to the extreme that it wakes you up to the real you. The emotional pain that’ll shock you and to that it’ll your true character. You have to hit rock bottom in your life or a life changing event in your life though the process that you truly understand. In Michael event I think he underwent both. They says what ever doesn’t kill WILL make you stronger. He has an iron man stature

42:30 really got me, I went numb and cold for a minute there, thinking we just learned his Dad was a sociopath. I can’t imagine how he felt, if I myself died a little in my chair hearing it. Also the part where he tries to tell his little brother that it was his fault their Dad was back in prison… I hope he is one day able to understand that his brother was actually right and saw things more clearly than he did. This is a more common dynamic among oldest and younger siblings than you might think. I also think it was amazing how his loyalty ethos played out on all facets of his life- the ability to recognize that fear-based loyalty is superficial because you just follow whoever scares you the most and that can always change, versus love-based loyalty which endures all things. Simply fascinating. I also enjoyed learning that Giuliani, who mostly gets hate, really cleaned up NY in his own way. Wow. And lastly, I Lol’d hard when he said Catholics don’t read the Bible, just the Catechism. The Catechism is a book explaining everything the Catholic Church believes, it’s just helpful for studying the Faith for anyone curious. It could never ever replace the Bible, which gets read FOUR times, not once, on Sundays, and not only on Sundays but everyday because Catholics have Mass everyday, not just Sundays. Lol. Anyway, I’m glad for him that he found the faith even though he didn’t fully make it back home.

This is the one interview I’ve seen with Michael Franzese in which almost appears nervous.

I just realise now that Prterson has exactly the same voice of Bob Odenkirk
@tapuout101 Says:
I think it helps knowing who you are talking with. We all have an internal dialog with ourselves(our soul). We also have 2 other voices influencing good and bad. Ok next we have to know the Tree by its fruit. You know its Bad if the suggestions attack yourself negatively, says self destructive things, or challenges everything Good. You can also look up sins of the flesh in the bible. The Good will suggest fruits of the spirit. The more you shut the Bad out the better you will hear the Good. I made a rule that I wouldnt allow myself to think negative things about myself. Which was really hard. lol I used the rule if I had nothing nice to say I wouldnt say it.

What an amazing interview!
@daveyboy_ Says:
Is he promoting his wine on the side ?
@brabhamfreaman166 Says:
Since discovering both of these gentlemen, I consider them upstanding examples not just of their gender, but more broadly of the human race. Having never watched one of Peterson’s interviews, I nevertheless expected that it would be of the utmost quality. And, in particular, that JP’s hundreds of hours of therapy practice would inevitably produce a deeply probing interview in which he would strive, maybe to Franzese’s discomfort, for the absolute truth at every turn. I was not disappointed and MF, once accustomed to the nature of the interaction, asked poignant questions of his own. I came away with the same heady respect for both men as I had always had.

Did anyone else catch Michael's slip of the tongue when he said 29 days in solitary?

Sorry but was it there Christian belief that made them stay by your side or was it the financial support and lifestyle that did? If the feds took all your millions and mansion would she still be there?
@KANSASCAVIES Says:
Franzese never directly answers the questions.
@flyjets Says:
Asked what he had to do to earn the trust of mob leadership... spends next two minutes tap dancing and never answering the question. Because, you know, some crimes don't have a statute of limitations...😂
@kevinb2844 Says:
The one thing about Michael’s story, which I always wonder about is, wouldn’t becoming a lawyer be a way to help his father get out of jail as opposed to entering the life?
@olevine45 Says:

@Shocker-lh6kn Says:
Why are you interviewing mob people. I don’t care that they got converted. You would do better to find a Christian that has raised a family right and put them in the lime light as a beacon to all “see! This is how you do it” instead your plugging this guys books. Shame on you Jordan.
@lucywanted2512 Says:
JP asks very interesting questions😮
@rokokni8767 Says:
The only time I've every seen Jordan Peterson be in a conversation where he didn't control the energy of it. Not that JP is domineering though, don't mean that.
@kentblock3407 Says:
I just love how they are able to listen and wait till the other is finished speaking. Learnt so much. Amazing men having a proper conversation.
@luismedina8502 Says:
The highest level of organized crime is government.....Get it right please!!!!!
@DanIel-fl1vc Says:
I'm fascinated by Jordan's mind games. Like he's trying to piece things together for the sake of it being logical rather than it being logical. Something is only immoral if it negatively affects someone else. The income tax is legal theft, nothing corrupt about taking it back. So in that sense Franzese is correct and Jordan is wrong. Also when Jordan talks about lies he's arguing for an ideal not practical reality. If everyone were honest and acted honestly in regards to everything. It'd be hell on earth, nobody would get along and we would revert back to caveman times. In a sense being moral means to lie about others and your own nature.
@Redmartian2000 Says:
The fact this guy is in his seventies is mind boggling. He doesnt look a day over 50. Really insightful and interesting man.
@mingxuanfan Says:
He’s older than Jordan, I thought he was younger
@ruicarvalho8768 Says:
I am literally loving this interview. Two very strong minded and grounded men, inteligent conversations... love this
@fasteddie9055 Says:
I knew about Michael long before THE GOODFELLAS (1991). He is ok. But, I don't understand how he approves of Rudi Fooliani (Guiliani) . Fooliani mounted his fugazy career using RICO to convict the mob. ''The Hero of RICO'' has now become the target of a RICO indictment. I know some mob folks in NYC that are tickled pink to see the ''The Hero of RICO'' in scalding hot water. Guiliani is an octogenarian alcoholic who needs to slow down his excessive drinking before he induces serious health problems.

That ending on living in truth day-to-day…I can’t quite put my finger on it but I just needed to hear that today. Our legacy is defined by the choices of our life, leading up to that moment in time so to speak. Wise words.
