Brilliant conversation - this conversation was true dia-logos. It was beautiful to see them truly seeing and engaging with each other. There was a depth to this conversation that was only possible due to this quality of engagement. Thank you - you both shared some amazing things to think about and engage with on a philosophical and practical level (especially as I’m recently married and am engaging with Love at a depth I’ve never thought I could). Thank you Jordan and Tor 🙏

Fascinating Conversation, Jordan B. Peterson. I do think Tor Nørretranders has quite a naïve view of what Love is, as an opposite of Evil. Sure, the Love, specifically Agape, that is a consequence of Judeo-Christian Morality is diametrical opposite to (Satan's equivalent of "love", namely) Evil. But I don't see for instance Romantic Love necessarily as an opposite or opposing Force to Evil. I've "been around the block". I've been an Agnostic, Atheist and Buddhist (mostly for its Philosophical Teachings). But I realized: —Nothing but Almighty GOD can fill that GOD-shaped hole in my Soul. And when it comes to remedy Satan's own Evil — only GOD's Love and the generation of Love we get from practicing HIS Moral Laws can really fight and destroy Evil in the ultimate.

It seems to me the conversation is primarily about the contents of consciousness and not consciousness itself. This may be inevitable when consciousness is approached via a paradigm of scientific materialism: Everything has to be understood in mechanistic terms. The question becomes 'How does this phenomenon work?' rather than 'What is this phenomenon?'.

Why does the host need to talk so bombastically for so long!!? This is always a big put off and makes it hard to listen to.

46:13 OMG. With this, I understand my fundamental orientation or psychological bent in life, the hunter-gatherer mindset, and I understand my wife's mindset, the farmer, as well, and how differences in perspective therein arise.

Further to the discussion of agriculture, I am reminded of the 7-year cycles required in the promised land when the children of Israel returned from Egypt. The land was to lie fallow every 7th year, which affected farming practices throughout the 7-year cycle. During the 7th year the people ate what the land produced naturally, plus what they had saved from the 6th year (in which God promised abundant harvests).

Eating local naturally occurring food, as at Noma, was always a novelty the relatively wealthy could indulge in precisely because most of their daily sustenance came from reliable and relatively inexpensive conventional sources. Eating “Noma-style” is highly unsustainable. If very many tried it they would soon be traveling hundreds of kilometers daily to try and (unsuccessfully) find enough food. Not very local, not to mention the ecological cost of traveling all over the countryside scrounging for enough to survive on. I’ll leave that to the “Survivor” type reality show people and be very thankful for the abundant and relatively inexpensive food I enjoy from modern agricultural practices.

We’re dreaming while awake, and that’s by definition — running internal models that may or may not reflect reality properly. Starting to sound a lot like Hindu mysticism.

Thank you so much for this incredibly interesting information! At about 07:50 what comes to mind is the gut feeling, or seventh sense, could it be the unused information that beckons to our conciousness?

It was in watching Jordan in this video, especially around the midpoint when he brought in Jehovah placing Moses in the cleft of the rock, the Tower of Babel, and Cain and Abel, that I realized I should also be looking for opportunities to bring these and other Biblical stories into my conversations. He really has inspired me to push forward assertively but graciously with these illustrations that are embedded with rich meaning.
